Supplements and foods that may DECREASE testosterone

Great thread. Scary stuff but no one is looking out for your health...you have to do it yourself.

As for my whey protein, I make my shakes out of this brand and for the price it's great: https://www.amazon.com/Grass-Whey-Protei...P062N2JK3E

I've been thinking of thinking of taking Calcium-d-Glucarate as well. I'll add that to my list.

Keep the good information coming fellas. It is appreciated.

@Hypno, all good points, I didn't even focus on the natural fruit and vegetable juice ways to cleanse but those are good things to note as well.

Once I use up my current supply of Celtic sea salt, I will be switching to Himayalan pink salt, because recent findings reveal- guess what?- microplastic pollution in sea salt. Come on motherfuckers.

https://arstechnica.com/science/2017/05/...oplastics/

wow, that is amazing, thanks for posting.

as for the salts, the idea is to get some of these trace minerals in your system, like iodine, selenium, etc. Himalayan sea salt is the most expensive, but you can get it for a reasonable price in the bulk section at health food stores. My local Sprouts (sort of like Whole Foods but less snobby) carries it for 2.99 a pound, which is way cheaper than Amazon.

I like to buy stuff like that and store it in mason jars. I poke a hole in the lid, and add a tab stop, and then pump the air out with a $30 pumpnseal. I also juice vegetables and store the juice in mason jars with the pumpnseal.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8taqrs0aL4E I have something similar for wine that cost about $10. Removing the air keeps it fresh and wholesome longer.

lmao I think it's because most meat is made up of poor quality and lab invested. There is some truth in what he says and some confusion. He speaks in "absolutes" Yes or no, right or wrong. I still eat salmon, chicken, and beef. More seafood. Beef in moderation. I believe in eat the food you kill.

This may be 100% broscience, but I believe eating a meatless diet is okay for women but not for men. Not as an image thing, but I think the nutrients gotten from animal meat is unequaled for promoting testosterone production and providing essential amino acids to help build strong able bodies.

What about Evian water? I always figured the plastic is thicker so it's safer to drink from.

Almost all commercially available plastic products we sampled—independent of the type of resin, product, or retail source—leached chemicals having reliably detectable EA (estrogenic activity), including those advertised as BPA free. In some cases, BPA-free products released chemicals having more EA than did BPA-containing products.

Many plastic products are mischaracterized as being EA free if extracted with only one solvent and not exposed to common-use stresses. However, we can identify existing compounds, or have developed, monomers, additives, or processing agents that have no detectable EA and have similar costs. Hence, our data suggest that EA-free plastic products exposed to common-use stresses and extracted by saline and ethanol solvents could be cost-effectively made on a commercial scale and thereby eliminate a potential health risk posed by most currently available plastic products that leach chemicals having EA into food products.

I went to the lab today to check my testosterone levels and the result had me surprised.

I checked them last year at a time when I had been 100% sober for months, 3 months on a strict high fat zero carb diet, no fap, lifting 4x week and martial arts 3x week, regular sleep patterns. I lived like a monk.

Now, I have mostly been eating like a veganvegetarian, low protein, and I have been partying few times a week. I even had a few smokes and been pretty sloppy with everything but I have been to the gym 4-6 times a week.

I went to the lab slighty hungover today and my levels have gone with 20% since last year.

You can only drink distilled water when you have absolutely no other source available and are about to die from thirst.

Distilled water depletes the body of nutrients by a great degree. Prolonged consumption will incur massive health problems. Never mind that most distilled water products are meant for industrial use mostly and the leeching of BPA related products might be x-times worse.

Concerning distilled water: yes, it is better than tap by a lot. However, it lacks essential minerals found in water in the state of nature, from which our body is used to getting them. If you only drink distilled water and do not supplement with calcium, magnesium, or the other trace minerals in sea salt, you will become hypo- in a lot of different areas due to deficiency.

Edit: basically seconding what Zelcorpion said.

Everything we know about affecting testosterone is really just a guess. The biggest problem is that you can't isolate for variables to truly find out if something is helping or not, so when someone says "My testosterone went up after I did X," you're just going by a hunch.

My personal opinion is that there are hundreds of factors that determine testosterone, and some are probably epi-genetically linked. If your brain has determined that there are no suitable mates or animals to hunt, it may shut down T production to save energy. Supplements and HRT can help for at least the short term, but they create dependency issues and possible side effects. I think they best we can do is to minimize exposure to man-made chemicals (particularly plastics), eat something resembling a "natural" paleo diet, avoid estrogenic foods, and surround ourselves with beautiful women who we want to impregnate.

Bottom line is why would our body create testosterone if there's nothing in daily life that requires its use? You don't have a family to protect, don't have to worry about getting food today, are not experiencing life-ending stress, etc. Banging sloots is fun, but may not be enough to keep T levels high.

^ Great point.

It might play a role that now I'm in Serbia and I have been enjoying epic spring weather with tons of sun and there are beautiful girls in sight as soon as I step out on the street.

When I did my last test I was in Finland and had I spent months in the winter darkness without much sun and not many girls on the street.

My favorite protein is True Nutrition's grass-fed whey protein. It's soy-free and it tastes great. You can also get bulk discounts.

Supplements and foods that may DECREASE testosterone

Solid info Swuglyfe. I researched everything way back and avoid most of the stuff. Europe is generally for now less toxic, some places even have high-end water that surpasses some mineral water. Also Europeans are nowhere near as medicated.

All the supposedly crazy stuff about water making us gay - well it may sound crazy, but in a way it is true. Toxins and estrogen mimicker make men more feminine, depending on the dosage it is possible that almost only girls get born in some areas of the US and this phenomenon is even studied. Now if the chemicals are that strong to change a sex of a fetus, what does this say about sexual orientation or feminine nature?

It is close to impossible to avoid everything on the list, but you can always pick better water, better food, far less toxic cosmetics and soaps. I have been doing it for years now.

Another point which I might add is that high-dosage supplements like a good multi and the recommended doses of 2000-5000 mg vitamin C, 5000IU D3 - all of that speeds up detox process tremendously:

http://orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/v10n09.shtml

Now this study concerns detoxing after XANAX, which is hard to get off to, but similar programs can be done at lower vitamin doses for a variety of toxins.

I read that some heavy metals are detoxed at speeds of up to 50 times higher due to a higher vitamin C dose alone. With food you are lucky to get 150mg - I take 2000mg - close to impossible to get via food and studies show that even 5000mg per day is good.

So the more toxic the environment, the more important are supplements and not less.

Good additions Zelcorp, this thread is really rolling now. I like to adhere to the approach to keep it simple, stupid.

This is a list of the common sources of harmful chemicals, and what I use instead:

Seventh Generation Fragrance Free Dish Soap
Seventh Generation Disinfecting Wipes
Method Daily Shower Cleaner
Method Bathroom Cleaner
I don't use dishwashers, I hand wash everything.
African Black Soap Fragrance Free Body Wash
JASON Fragrance Free Shampoo
Puracy Hand Soap
Seventh Generation Toilet Cleaner
Seventh Generation Natural Glass and Surface Cleaner, Free and Clear
Tide PODS Free and Gentle (note these still SUCK and I am just using up my supply, I intend to replace them with Grab Green pods, Fragrance Free)
Bulldog Original Moisturizer
Bulldog Eye Roller
I used to wash my face every morning with Neutrogena Naturals Facial Cleanser but just use water and a scrub now.
JASON Sea Salt Mouth Rinse
Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil Toothpaste

Suggestions for improving this common set of household chemicals are welcome. I tried to find mass market ones without phthalates, parabens, SLS, preservatives, and even fragrances wherever possible.

An interesting fact about smoking:

Study:Endogenous testosterone levels and smoking in men.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17163954

Quote:Quote:

Smoking men had 15% higher total and 13% higher free testosterone levels compared with men who never smoked. Thus, smoking seems to be an important confounding factor when evaluating testosterone levels, and could possibly mask borderline hypogonadism.

I'm surprised you buy all of these mixes ad don't opt for Dr. Bronner's + ACV for everything. Shampoo, dishwasher, handsoap, can all be cured with Bronner's.

What's with the anti-dishwasher? Doesn't seem like it would be too much of an issue, it literally blasts boiling water on the dishes. If you use a clean dishwasher soap, it's the same thing as handwashing, no?

What about drinking Distilled Water?

Distilled water is fine minus the plastic bottle. But its literally only a drop in the bucket. Think about the water you cook and clean with, bathe with, etc; its not distilled. The water you drink at work, the water used at the restaurants you eat at. (bathing is important because you absorb chlorine through the skin and your lungs when you shower)

There is no perfect, complete solution.

If you own a home, a whole house filter is the way to go but they cost about $1500. But you still have work, restaurants, etc. You also have to supplement with minerals.

So chelating with natural substances is a good stop gap - stuff like carrot juice, chlorella, spirulina. The toxins bind to these and are removed from your body.

I think Bronner's + ACV is the final evolution of cleaning for sure. For me, it's the convenience (and smell, or lack thereof) factor. I also think it might be more approachable for people looking to transition from their Clorox wipes and Windex to have analogs, as it was for me when making this change over.

Anti-dishwasher is just because I don't have nearly enough to ever fill it. I live by myself, so the most I have dirty at one time is a fork, a pan, and a plate.

Timely thread. Great info.

I've decided to go off TRT. I'm doing a restart because I'd been on test for 2 years. My lifestyle was bad up to 2 years ago -- stress levels through the roof, bad diet, too much drinking, and no lifting.

Now I have my lifestyle habits dialed in, been lifting for 2 months straight, cut back on alcohol, eating clean(er) and effectively managing stress.

So I want to take the TRT wheels off and see how my body does on its own. We shall see how I feel 3 months from now. Lifestyle habits and this thread will have a positive impact I'm sure.

I got this filter, it's awesome. A little bit of handy work to install but pretty easy. Highly recommended. High quality water is so important.

https://www.amazon.com/APEC-5-Stage-Reve...B00I0ZGOZM

Mint decreases T so watch out. It's a shame because sweet mint tea is awesome, developed a taste for this after visiting Morocco.

Alcohol, marijuana, and opiates all crush T levels. Be very wary. Nicotine may actually increase T, there are conflicting studies. Nicotine also clearly improves verbal skills and concentration, however weighing that against its negative impacts on your erections and hair over the long run (obviously critical things for a man in the game), it isn't worth it.

I use all-natural personal care products when I can, but avoid tea tree oil and lavender as ingredients. They are anti-androgenic and estrogenic (check out the study below). Especially for toothpaste, something going inside your mouth will absorb to a much greater degree than things that only touch your skin.

http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/nejmoa064725

For a good toothpaste that is totally clean, I recommend this one. It is totally free of SLS which is a terrible ingredient in all commercial toothpastes.

https://www.amazon.com/Redmond-Earthpast...Q2TOG?th=1

Also, if any of you use the anti-fungal shampoo Nizoral (active ingredient is Ketaconazole), it has an anti-T effect. This is partially why it is often used as a hair loss remedy.
