I just can't help thinking that in 2 weeks i will be back in high school (in this school you graduate at 19 and then forced to go to army, by the goverment, for 1-2 more years) and it's a nightmare. Everytime i enter the class, all my energy is sucked up by this huge zombie hypnotizer who pretends to give a fuck about my future and complains why i don't participate in the class because my mind travels in a universe that does not recocnize the word "teacher". How did you guys survive school?
They force me merciless to do boring homework [Image: sad.gif] They force me to listen to the teachers. Guess what is the best part. It's a fucking private school that my parents pay a lot of money and i can't quit now. That's right it's safer to kiss the boss ass for 10 years and pobably get a good position and work for 12 hours in the future. Also reading stories of nymphomaniacs will screw up my mind, instead, go figure out. And that book that an experinced millionaire wrote is useless to other people because they think that rich people are the exception

Give me tips please. Shall i talk to girls at the risk of getting punished by the teacher? One time last year in religious studies lesson the teacher screamed at me "If you touch her hair again i will exclude you from the lesson". I wanted to touch the girl's hair again because of the lesson itself but i was too afraid of punishments afterwards.

I could go on about bitching school for as long as a railway stretches. Even though this looks like a "please save me thread" i really didn't know how to express my feelings guys. Sorry if it screams too much of attention.

Forced to go into the military? What country do you live in? I only know of Israel and Russia that force people into the military.

Quite a few European countries have compulsory military service. Denmark, Finland, Norway, Germany, Switzerland and Austria spring to mind.

Mostly it's limited to a year though and there are loopholes that people use to get out of it.

Andreas: check out this essay, it's very good: http://www.paulgraham.com/hs.html

It's a bitch having to study things you don't see a clear use for, taught by uninspiring teachers. Since you have to study anyway, work at becoming more efficient at it so that you can get it out of the way quicker. I skipped classes a lot in high school but because I worked on my study skills I got very good grades from spending relatively little time studying. These skills (speed reading, note taking, memory techniques) are still very useful to me today seven years on.

You hit on girls outside of class. And you go aggressive, when the adults can't see you.

Damn dude isn't there a loophole or something you can use to get out of military service.
One thing I refuse to do is military service. I'm not loyal enough to any country to do that.
Fuck patriotism. I'd rather look out for myself than for an arbitrary piece of land.

If you really can't escape, then just get the most out of it that you can.

My advice is to actually intend to learn something in school. If you don't listen to your "zombie hypnotizer" teacher you're going to be out in the real world and be an ignorant and mindless zombie yourself that is a burden on society. Educate yourself while you have the opportunity. If you're at a private school I'm sure your teachers are above-average.

Stop taking things so seriously.

By the time your an adult, there will be little to no correlation between your high school experience and where you are. Some of the straight A'ers will be crackheads, others will be working dead end jobs they hate. Some of the drop outs will be broke crackheads, others will be millionaires. The hot chicks will be overweight moms with saggy tits, some of the average girls will be the hottest left in your class. Popular athletes with great looks will be overweight and have nothing going for them because they kept eating and drinking and stopped exercising.

The reality is, if your an idiot, your already an idiot. High school only prepares you for the workforce. If you want to run your life your way then you'll need to use your own brain. Once those 4 years (or 6) are over, you have barely put one foot in to the real world and your entire adult life remains. High school is annoying as hell because other people are telling you what to do and it doesn't go at your own pace, but thats ok and its certainly not going to be the most difficult part of your life.

As for the military thing, that's not a country I would want any part of, and I can guess the country your in.

Babelfish made some good points.

I'm 28 and still feel the way you do, kid. Education systems in generally are pretty rotten. They make you feel like an animal in a slaughterhouse. I don't think I got anything useful out of all my years in the education machine. My smarts came from focusing on reading things that were interesting to me and spending time alone thinking about stuff. Most of the lessons and books that I got forced through did nothing for me. I was celibate through most of my years in school because my parents and teachers never thought it was important to teach us anything about the opposite sex or encourage us to learn about it. I feel your pain.

Right now you live in a microcosm. The scope of the world right now is beyond you, it is to anyone that age. Life seems to move at a snail's pace as you crawl through the hoops that educators and parents put you through. I have no idea what the military is like but I'm sure it won't be much fun either. You do know however that this will all come to an end, and much sooner than you think. You'll be young and have plenty of time to pursue women and adventures. That microcosm of yours will completely fall away and life will be all yours. You'll be able to do whatever the hell you want.

How did I survive school? Dreams. That's what you need. You have to take this time to dream up the life you're going to live when your sentence is over. Think of the things you'll want to do and how you'll do them. Where do you want to live? What sorts of jobs would you like to try? Sounds like you're getting pretty interested in girls. Where can you get better access to them? What sorts of awesome things do you want to experience when you're free and able to take on the world? Write up a checklist of all the things you want when you're free. It'll lift your spirits for sure. You might want to browse the library for some books that might inspire you as well.

As for your current girl situation, I'd try to be more discreet. Try passing notes or something and find ways to isolate girls in situations where teachers aren't present. Good luck.

Thanks man, that's a light in the tunnel.
In my country we are forced to go to the military because we dont have enough people who are willing to serve forever and also because half of it is not exactly called using the name of our tiny small country

No offense but why is it so hard to say which country you are from ? i see this all the time on forums. keeping your home country a mystery , why ??

CupCake: Damn you got some pretty strong points in your post. Everyday i keep asking myself questions for what is worth doing and having dreams. It totally changed the way i think about school. I also read the essay that Caigula posted through a link and it says that school should be treated as a day job and that it would be a good thing to also read other useful stuff rather than only school books.

NeilSkywalker: Doesn't really make a difference whether i mention the name of my country or not.

Ya know, women love a man in uniform. You might want to take that military shit seriously and try to move up in the ranks. Become an officer. That'll help you out in more ways that you might imagine. Also, try to take the physical training seriously and give yourself a good head start in life.

In the former USSR, I've heard that men could exempt military service if they went into medicine or engineering. Is there something like that available in your country? A skill or a profession that's in shortage?

I'm not sure if you can get away with it with those proffessions. Even if you are super sports star you still going to serve the army in my country for some time. But it's not like a serious thing, just precious time wasted. There are exemptions to families with 4 or more kids or the younger male among 3 brother does 1 year only which is my case.

@Andreas: I don't know what's so 'special' in keeping your country name hidden, but perhaps if you could speak it out we may be able to assist you much better than randomly talking about USSR etc!

Anyways, the point is, about school which i think flips all the fun of the education around. I learnt more about biology in 5 hours watching discovery channel and national geographic than in 5 years of school. And it was more interesting and useful info
