Losing weight: When your body just refuses to

Losing weight: When your body just refuses to

I am not obese - far from there - but my BMI is around 26, which is too much. The problem is that I have a belly that extrudes around 6-7 cm. I am 175 cm tall, and here's what I tried to lose weight.

Starting weight: 82 kg

Attempt 1: No alcohol for 2 months, and for the second month, I used this basic training program: http://www.muscleandfitness.com/workouts...g-guide-0.

Weight after 2 months: 82.1 kg, belly still the same

Attempt 2: No alcohol for 3 months, 1 hour of running everyday, same workout routine than above, no sugary drinks.

Weight after 2 months: 82.2 kg, belly extruding 1 cm more.

Attempt 3: I was pissed at the results and got a liposuction at Bangkok's best hospital to remove my belly. The next month, despite wearing my compression garnment post-surgery, I did 1 hour of mild exercise per day, still no alcohol, no sugary drinks, and held this for 1 month.

Weight after that month: 82.1 kg, belly extruding like the beginning (6-7 cm).

Latest attempt: I tried a more radical approach: Maximum 1,700 calories per day, no alcohol, no bread (ate only 1 time), no pasta, everything "no sugar please", 1 hour running per day, 50 sit-ups + plank + dumbells + 30 push-ups 3 times per week. Drinking nothing else than water. Held this routine for 2 months straight.

Final result: 82.0 kg, belly still extruding 6-7 cm.

It just won't work. Even the liposuction didn't do a thing - the only thing that lost weight is my wallet. Before I start looking for "weight loss drugs" from the "boys in the soi", is there anything that I am missing out? I am not motivated to run anymore, because I feel I'm just wasting my time because of the above results.

Have you tried swimming? I always see swimming as a much higher quality exercise that running. Automatically cools you, no slamming pavement in your squishy "training shoes", works the upper body, much more resistance so you're burning more energy etc.

Also what about your T levels? Have you got them checked? If you decide to medicate, (which you effectively already have by having lyposuction), taking testosterone is usually the first step, followed by T4:

I don't know about you but the last time I swam a kilometer in the pool I felt anything but cool after. Your body gets extremely hot and the waters usually aren't going to be cooling you off while you go.

Not dissing swimming as an exercise at all.

The thing I want to know own is OPs diet, he says no alcohol but that doesn't mean much if he eats purely. And body transformation takes more than a few months, building muscle will help shape out your body where running isnt the ideal for what he wants.

I tried swimming a while ago but never really had results - and where I'm living now, access to a swimming pool is hard.

Haven't got my T levels checked - I guess I can try it.

I didn't try fasting yet - many reports suggest that your weight will come back as quick as it left when you start eating again, plus it's not good for health. Maybe I'm wrong?

I heard about "dinitrophenol" that seems to be a very potent chemical, 100% legal here, for weight loss.

Check out Jason Fung's book The Obesity Code, or sift through his blog posts on fasting at his site:

Also get you TSH levels checked as per that GLL article.

Were you swimming in a nice indoor heated 25m Japanese pool? Try swimming in an outside 50m Aussie pool and you'll be begging for a blanket when you get out [Image: icon_lol.gif]

OP, you talk about your belly "extruding" but not bf%.

Is it possible you're bloated and/or your abs are shot?

See it a lot in older guys that have that rotundness going on, made more significant by a shitty core.

If neither of that is the case, then I'd have to ask if you're truly being honest with yourself re calories in/out. It's not possible to not to lose weight if you're in caloric deficit.

And how about the rest of your body, are you losing body fat there?

You might want to see a doctor and get some dietary advice based on a blood test.

My sister put herself through hell with fad diets until she turned to science and found out that she had a certain type of metabolic system that responded particularly well to fish, fruit and vegetables while responding particularly poorly to red meat and processed grains, particularly pasta.

Which was bad news for her, since she was more in love with lasagne than Garfield.

To lose weight you need to be in a caloric deficit, meaning your body has to expend more energy than what it is consuming.

Just giving up alcohol is most likely not going to do that unless youre basically living off of it. Your two options are to incorporate rigourous exercise or eat less. Or both.

I highly reccomend you take up lifting, and later incorporate high intensity cardio like sprints.

If you commit to a new healthier diet and lifting regimen (with effort and discipline of course) there is no reason for your body not to change. Your body is a reflection of your lifestyle, and just giving up alcohol and doing minor exercise is not an impressive lifestyle.

Good luck

It's really simple to lose weight and get shredded (note that simple is not the same as easy).

Train with weights, be in a calorie deficit.

This is the most effective and also the ONLY way to do it. Everything else is bunk.

I know this because I've been shredded before. This is roughly how I keep myself looking year round:

This is 100% natural. I could get a lot bigger/shreddeder if I got on test and did a few cycles.

First, get on a weight training program. Start with 5x5 then progress to something more advanced (e.g. RPT, bodybuilding style, Jonny Canditos intermediate training program etc) after 3-6 months when you have the basics down. Eat "clean" during this time i.e. watch your macros, get plenty of protein and fats and eat carbs only after workouts.

After about 1-2 years of this if you really want to get shredded then download MyFitnessPal or some other calorie tracker. Track every single thing that you eat. Find out your maintenance level calories then -500 a day so you would be at -3500 cals per week (equates to roughly 1lb of fat). Make sure you keep a close eye on your macros so you maintain as much muscle mass as possible. You want HIGH protein, high fat on rest days and high carb directly after workouts on training days.

Now weigh yourself every morning and track the average over time. If it's not going down then reduce calories even further. If it's going down too fast then bump the calories up a little.

I helped my ex-girlfriend lose 7kg over the course of 20 weeks using this method, down to a very svelte and slim body. Her boobs did get smaller though [Image: sad.gif].

Everything you could ever need to know about losing weight and getting shredded can be found in the leangains archive.

Can someone please explain to me what is 'belly extrusion' and how is it measured? I've never heard of it.

I thought the best ways to track belly fat are to measure waist circumference or to do body fat percentages.

You better post a pic so people know what the hell your belly extrusion is. Nobody says that.

I'm not an expert at fitness but "belly extrusion" is the word I used to measure the distance between a flat belly, and where my belly is at now - which means that it's extruding 8 cm from where it should be. Kinda of a "pregnant" look.

Ok but is it from fat or from jacked up posture? Post a pic bro.

Bullshit. You just haven't figured out how your body works.

Man I wish that was good advice. The vast bulk of GPs are fucking mailing it in slacker cunts. They've done their time, now they have the right to mumble at you and scribble on a prescription pad to get their cheques they're due. I've lost count of the times the doctor has been wrong, misdiagnosed shit, misprescribed shit, and been presented with requests for prescriptions they didn't even know about. This is the 21st century; in my opinion the more hostile you are to doctors the better results you'll get for yourself.

I am pretty much same messaurments as you, also I gain weight fast but loose so slow.
I was always fat kid with belly, my adult all time high was 105 kg so 82 kg now is great.
I had success with keto type diets but it is pretty much a lifestyle change which is too hard to follow for me.
If you switch back to ordinary food and beers your belly is back in no time.
So I am trying to avoid carbohydrates when I can and be around this weight.

Your liposuction sounds weird how much did they suck from your belly?

Volbesck has it. Go to youtube and look for John Rose. Try his juice fasting. You may have physical material that isn't being removed and is stretching you.

For a quick but less effective version you could try Oxy Powder also.

And then look at Ketonic diet for the fat. There is a thread.

"dumbells + 30 push-ups 3 times per week"

What exactly does doing "dumbells" entail? That can have an incredibly broad meaning.

When I'm cutting, I actually do more sets/reps of weights, and just decrease my calories by 100-200 per day. .. . once you figure out your body cutting weight should be completely trivial, since at the end of the day its basic math, calories in calories out.

So you thought doing 30 push ups was a great work out routine? Lol.

I feel like the OP is so fucked and uneducated on how this works and is unwilling to listen that he probably just needs to get a trainer and a nutritionist.

And don't try dinitrophenol. It can really actually kill you.
