"Maggie Goes on a Diet" stirs controversy

http://news.yahoo.com/video/health-15749...88352.html

Our society is ridiculous, particularly fat-acceptance people. This dude writes a children's book that seems to actually accurately reflect society. A girl is made fun of school for being fat, so she goes on a diet, becomes a sports star, and gains friends. Moms go bananas.

Since when is it a NEGATIVE thing to encourage kids to not to be OBESE. They bring up eating disorders but this totally misses the point of the book. Isn't being overweight a result of the main "eating disorder" in America, stuffing faces with processed and non-nutritious crap? If the girl in the story stopped eating completely or nibbled on carrots all day, that would be sending the wrong message (though I HIGHLY doubt this was depicted in the book). He probably said poor Maggie started eating more fruits and veggies and exercised!

The world isn't a fair place. I'm sorry to say, mothers, but this preoccupation with looks will continue into adulthood. I don't understand people who live in a lala land and pretend that real life isn't out there. Congrats to the author for having some balls.

I agree completely. I heard about this on the radio the other day and it pissed me off.

I think the whole concept of "dieting" is terrible. LIFESTYLE choices need to be made. Diets are temporary, pointless, and worthless.

This is just a North American thing. Men AND Lizards in other countries look down on fat people. It is a sign of indiscipline, indolence and most likely will lead to other undesirable behaviour.

Girls who work out are the biggest fattie haters. Whether talking to them or chatting online via online dating, they are the first to say no to a fattie and laugh at them mercilessly.

I saw this article about plus size "models." The sickening thing part of it is the comments: some of the highly rated ones feature compliments for the fat ones.

Even more pernicious, some tout the idea that there is skinny, and fat, and then there's healthy in between. Fair enough, except that skinny (and thus not "healthy") is defined as anything under a size 8.

Take this woman:

She is a size 1, and 5'7" 107 lbs. We're supposed to believe she is the image of poor health.

This woman is "healthy," at a size 8, 5'7" 148 lbs.

I found this site: http://www.mybodygallery.com/ . Kind of interesting how women of the same height and pant size/weight can look dramatically different. Even some of the size 8s look pretty good. Like this one:

And she's 5'7" and 150, heavier than the other one. She must be hiding 20 lbs of muscle somewhere.

I don't know how these last two women are the same size.

It's sheer lean muscle and bone.

I've met many lizards that look amazing but when you feel their body, it's solid. Muscle goes a long way.

Girl #1 is my type of figure, or 10lbs or so more. I think the main difference between girls #2 and #3 (other than that #3 looks much better) is the clothing and the angle. I think they both have big bottoms/hips, #3 hides it well with the dress and also the sideway camera angle.

I'd also like to introduce the "arm test" (sorry if this has been covered before), which a friend introduced to me.

It really hasn't failed me. If a girl's arms are thin and toned, its 99% indicative that she has a pretty good body everywhere else. This is a good test when the clothing is hiding a lot (as in girl #3). It makes sense. If she has low fat on her arms, chances are elsewhere its low as girls carry fat on their arms easy. Furthermore, a toned arm almost always suggests a girl works out or at least plays sports.

With the above analysis, girl #3 passes the arm test well. She probably has muscular legs and a strong butt. Strength in those areas can weigh a lot.

Hmm this is very interesting and a valid litmus test when fcuking in North America as these lizards have deceptively rather pretty faces and sloppy frames.

It's nice to see that size 1 picture and then go out and see plenty of girls with that body type at the bar. In DC this was not possible.

Are you ever coming back? I don't blame you if you're not, I might head out soon myself.

It pisses me off when I get off the train at Courthouse or go to the Whole Foods in Clarendon. If those sames girls would go out, have a few drinks, and be at least somewhat DTF, DC (esp. Arlington) would be a pretty good place. These girls all pretty much have the "bitch face" though. I'm not sure if they hate they're jobs or maybe they just hate DC too.

I was making out with a girl with body-type #1 in my bed the other night. In fact, she may have been even thinner. She had subtle curves that made her feminine, but definitely skinny-looking. My boner was raging through my jeans. By contrast, the last time I was with a #2-type of girl, I was at 3/4s mast while banging her.

My mind sometimes tells me that a little fat is better than being scary skinny, but boner don't lie.

I have a thing for scary skinny, it's like I'm a big hairy bear taking her to town. I love it.

60% of the girls in the club tonight were huge. It was like a few cute chicks, a few more okay chicks, and a hundred tubs of lard jiggling to "this is how we do it." Blubber on the dance floor! It got really hot in there :\n
There was one in shape girl with her 4 fat friends in tow. There were a few other thin girl-fat girl pairs. Other groups were just fatties with other fatties. By fat I'm referring to big sweaty chicks with bellies so huge, it would make the michelin man feel good about himself. There were 3 groups of just in-shape girls and you could just smell their haughtiness in the air.
