This is a very useful story-- does anyone have any ideas how to change subjects diplomatically when a chick takes takes off on a buzz-killer tangent? Once they're really gone, it's too late sometimes; the mood is shot.

Wouldn't worry so much about being diplomatic... few times a chick started to go off like that with me, I told them, "no politics" or "my rule is I don't talk politics with someone I just met." Then they started talking about something else.

My approach was a little less diplomatic. I told her, "Some people came here to get laid, not talk politics.

This did nothing to shut her down. I had to walk away. And holy shit was she super cute. I mean stereotypical hot Scandanavian girl, just a little bit shorter than model material (which is hotter to me, since I'm not a fan of overly tall women).
