If for instance time sped up or slowed (a nonesense idea btw) we would still perceive it the same as we are subject to the same rate of change of the universe.

Not quite. Time will indeed move noticeably slower if you move with a speed that's close to the speed of light.

Here is a Scientific American article detailing the reason time seems to speed up as we age. Boils down to the fact that people tend to not have as many new and memorable experiences. https://www.scientificamerican.com/artic...-with-age/

I feel like I've answered this question a few times before...

It depends. Are you thinking on the fourth dimension?

As far as history repeating, or it being cyclical, it does repeat until you figure out the proper response/reaction to it.

I'm trying to understand this.

I'm not very good at this physics stuff. Bear with me.

What does the relationship of time and life expectancy have to do with time speeding up? I understand the fractions, in terms of mortality and time you have left in regards to overall days spent alive but can't understand how this relates to time acceleration.

There is 24 hours in a day when you're 5 and also 24 hours in a day when you're 70.

Not arguing with you, just asking you to dummifiy it so I can understand from a time acceleration standpoint.

It has nothing to do with physics, just human perspective.

The only thing you have to be concerned about with physics is that, if you happen to be moving close to the speed of light, time slows down. This is similar to the doppler effect. It is known as time dilation.

My physics teacher taught me this several years ago through a thought experiment. He said, "Imagine three ships going close to the speed of light. They are moving in a straight line, one in front of the other. The ship in the middle says, let's have lunch. What happens?"

What happens is that the ship in the front receives the message at a later time because, at close to light speed, the message (ie the stone) gets sent/splashed at a certain time and it receives that message/splash at a later time.

Therefore, the ship in the front has lunch later than the ship in back.

My initial statement only concerns a man's perspective. A day in the life of an eight year old "feels" a lot longer than a day when you're 38 because one single day is a lesser portion of the total time you've spent. This isn't the only reason why people in their late 20's and early 30's start planning for things, but I'm sure it helps.

Time is linear. History is cyclical.

Was just going to post that.

Time is our meager minds trying to fathom the dimension above ourselves.

^ Yup.

I'm expecting the Alpha and Omega to be revealed all at the same time, when we physically cease to exist in this particular interpretation (how our material minds understand it) of the time construct.

Yeah but thats just because time blends together more when you havw the same routines, and older people are more likely to have set routines than younger people. For example as a kid every grade is a nrw experience, but as an adult if you work at the same place 10 years it will blur together. Banging new chicks, traveling to new places, and trying new things is the answer.

Yeah, but even short amounts of time seem to go by faster the older you are. For example, when I was 5, an hour felt like a long time. Now, an hour goes by in an instant.

I tend to agree with what Hannibal said.

Is time linear or cyclical?

Do you guys think that it is possible for different types of being to perceive time differently? For example, a housefly only lives for about 28 days (on average), but to the fly, does it feel as long as 80 years feels to us?

EDIT: That might be a shitty example, since flies probably don't even perceive time or have memories, but my point still makes sense.

A better example might be: If the human lifespan were 10,000 years, would those 10,000 years feel just as short as our current 80-year lifespans feel?
