Fairfax Media Falsely Accuses ROK Of Promoting Rape, Its Editor Resigns Over Groping

He apologized and took full responsibility, so I'm guessing that means the groping allegations circulating around every publication BUT Fairfax ones are true.

Avoid clicking The Guardian links if you can - I only included this link as a lot of Australian papers reporting on it require subscriptions.

The editor-in-chief of the Age, Mark Forbes, has resigned just days after he was stood down while Fairfax Media investigated a complaint of sexual harassment by a young female reporter.

The woman made a formal complaint to management after Forbes allegedly “groped her on the bottom” at the Age Music Victoria awards in November.

Forbes was stood down on Friday hour before the Walkley awards.

In an email to staff on Monday Forbes apologised for his actions and said he accepted that his position was untenable.

“The Age demands the highest standards of behaviour from our leaders, in the community, business and politics,”Forbes wrote. “As EIC of The Age, I must uphold all the standards which we would expect in others.

“I acknowledge and accept that I have not done so. Whatever the circumstance, even a single lapse of judgement in upholding these standards should have serious consequences.

“Accordingly, I believe it is untenable to remain as EIC.

“I again apologise to the person concerned, and I apologise to all of you as, ultimately, I have let you down.

Forbes said he supported the right of any employee who felt they had been harassed to report it.

“This is, I hope, a reminder to all that our dealings with all women must be respectful and equitable at all times.”

On Saturday a second woman made a complaint about Forbes, alleging he had sexually harassed her at a social function in February when he was news editor.

In a complaint seen by Guardian Australia, she said Forbes stared at her breasts and said words to the effect of “You’re looking busty”, before adding: “Not that I’m complaining.”

'[R]espectful and equitable' means 'defer to whatever they say'. Sexual assault is unacceptable, but I don't see much respect being given to gents in the lunchroom or boardroom.

Note the second woman coming forward. She will face zero scrutiny (one accusation = all subsequent accusations are proven) and zero consequences if her words are lies. Plus, I do not understand how women can be portrayed as such go-getters in the workplace by a fawning media when this second gal only comes along after the first girl's accusation has well and truly fucked his position.

That said, the first accusation appears to be true. OR he's been forced out, recognizing that he doesn't stand a chance in trying to defend himself against it.

Either way, the irony is delicious. The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald took great delight in hating on us, lying about us, and whipping up the high probability of violence against us in January/February.

Who's got the 'rape culture' problem now, Fairfax?

Gotta love how he somehow finds a way to lecture people after violating the very ethics that he preaches. I'm sure in his cognitive dissonance he still thinks he is a pure unblemished good little male feminist after all this. Who is he to tell anyone how to act, when apparently he can't even follow his own autocratic ideology? How often do you think he lambasted a co-worker for some innocuous comment while having no issue personally going full on grope. Typical double standard and facade.

And the absolute cherry on top:

“You’re looking busty”, before adding: “Not that I’m complaining.”

The dude thinks being "busty" is something one would complain about. Clearly this man is mentally ill.

This 'second woman' is another typist who's realised her days are numbered as such & is looking to jump laterally into HR where the power balance is stacked her way, I'll wager.

"Words to the effect of" !!!

"Words to the effect of" ???

The playbook these days means always having a backup misdemeanour to corroborate the veracity of the first instance, no matter how trivial/obviously made up bullshit. Duly noted.

On the upside, it's good to see Fairfax eating their own.

It's always those male feminists, isn't it? In a local community I'm involved with, the male feminist who, with help from the neon-colour haired kaiju brigade, brought us safe spaces and trigger warnings, was recently kicked out because apparently he sexually assaulted some woman.

Men aware of game or natural alphas know when its safe or appropriate to make a move on a prospective female. Men who follow the script and think if they do xyz assume as along as they did xyz it's all good without actually taking the women's body language, tone of voice, circumstances, etc. into consideration. Makes sense how male feminists would be more likely to be slapped with a charge such as this. He probably felt dishonored by her rejection so he acted out and groped or grabbed or attempted some awkward (latent?) dominance display.

Game aware or natural alphas know there's always another women around the corner so why get angry or act out if the one of front of you doesn't want to play?

As a general rule, I agree, but there are a lot of exceptions to it nowadays. There are so many, many alphas out there who have been accused of sexual assault, for example.

Calibration and frame are super-important, but they are not some kind of fail-safe against opportunistic and malevolent women.

You could be as alpha as fuck but ditch a woman or otherwise piss her off and find yourself the recipient of some slanderous allegation designed to ruin your professional reputation and even life.

The second girl is just jumping on the bandwagon now that it's safe to do so. I bet at the time she just shrugged it off as not worth complaining about because it wouldn't be enough to get him fired so she'd be forced to leave her job after complaining. However once there was a more serious allegation and he'd been stood down she felt safe to chime in and throw in a kick of her own.

Exactly. Its the female equivalent of a hater being too cowardly to throw a punch against a healthy target but all too happy to pile in on someone who's already been beaten and can't defend themselves.

This is where we are now. Spitting bad game is enough 'evidence' to get you convicted of sexual harassment in the court of public opinion.

Clearly, they don't practice what they preach or follow "do as we say not as we do".

Which is why I have never dated or had sex with anyone in the same sphere of work as me since a particular incident I had years ago with a colleague.

My experience didn't even include sex or a woman who was vindictive, she merely couldn't keep some stuff to herself from not only her friends but the rest of the company.
