Stockholm plunged into chaos by feminist-friendly snow removal

Just when you think Sweden couldn't get any more ridiculous...

http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/11/...al-policy/

Quote:Quote:

Politicians in Stockholm said the policy of “gender-equal” snow removal has failed after the weather brought Sweden’s capital to a standstill last week, with hospitals reporting a fourfold increase in broken bones.

The city switched to a “feminist” system of clearing snow last winter but last week’s burst of snow, which threw the city into chaos, has cast doubt on its effectiveness.

Hundreds of thousands of people were affected, with the majority of bus routes put out of service and commuters having to wait in queues for several hours.

Previously, fresh snowfalls were cleared first from main roads and by areas like construction sites before being removed from pavements and cycle lanes. As men are more likely to drive and women more likely to travel on foot, more women slipped on the ice which led to complaints that the system was sexist.

Vice-mayor of Stockholm, the Green Party’s Daniel Helldén, admitted that “equality snow removal” had failed the city, and apologised to residents who had injured themselves as a result.

When the Red-Green coalition, comprising politicians from the Social Democratic Party, Green Party, Left Party, and Feminist Initiative, were elected to City Hall in 2014 the introduction of a “feminist” snow clearance was high on the agenda.

But police last week said the system is so bad, with ambulances unable to make their way along Stockholm’s roads, it posed a danger to society. Officer Fredrik Ståhle branded the conditions for drivers in the city “deplorable”.

Opposition vice-mayor Cecilia Brinck called the concept of “gender-equal” snow removal “a little silly”. The Moderate party politician said despite the promise that feminist snow-clearing would make life better for women, its implementation made the weather “bad for everyone”.

Per Ossmer and Martin Westmont from the Sweden Democrats said that the city’s snow clearance plan should not be “characterised by a feminist perspective”.

Speaking for the populist party in a piece for Stockholm Direkt, the pair advised that politicians prioritise delivering an effective transport system over investing “considerable resources” in “gender certifying” various services.

I'm reminded of the element towards the end of Atlas Shrugged, with Ma Chalmers and her soybeans diverting rolling stock from the wheat fields, leaving a bumper wheat crop to rot and precipitating a mass famine. Not sure why.

I wonder how many women actually do the plowing and shovellin of snow?

And I have a serious question abnoutmroads and snow:

Why don't they just put some type of heating element under asphalt and concrete when they are building roads? Why haven't places been doing this for years?

Its not like three feet of snow just falls out of the sky at once, it builds up gradually. If the roads and sidewalks were warm, it would be like rain.

Please advise.

Haha from the title I thought it was gonna be that they had a mandate that required half of people paid by the government to clear snow had to be women or something like that. Still funny though. It would also be hilarious to watch what would happen if men decided to go on a snow clearing strike for an entire winter.

On a side note, I live in Colorado. Where in the fuck is the motherfucking snow? It hasn't even been cold once yet.

I had been wondering about that too, so I looked into it, and apparently, It takes a surprising amount of power to run heating elements to melt snow. But with that said, there are bridges that employ heating elements like that

La Nina year = dry and mild winter weather in the South and SW. IIRC wetter and possibly colder in the midwest and NW.

It would be amazingly expensive to run, yeah, and there would be all kinds of issues with drainage when the top several feet of ground was frozen. Lots of potential problems and it's just not worth the bother. They don't need that anyway. Just get the plows and salt trucks out at 3 AM and the roads will never be icy to begin with. It very rarely gets cold enough in Stockholm for salt to stop working, and if it does, the ice isn't that slippery anymore.

As to the gender equal plowing policy... these people are clearly mentally ill. They think they can rewrite reality by passing a law, and that is insane. What more is there to say?

Wooden posts marked with orange to denote where snow-buried curbs lurk are in fact a hostile expression of male supremacy?

I'm very proud that Sweden is the first country to introduce gender-equal snow removal.

Next up, we plan to bring gender-equal fuel subsidies. Since women earn less and drive smaller and more eco-friendly cars than men, the Swedish government plan to reimburse women the full amount when they fuel their cars.

In conjunction with this, there will be a government play at gender-equal investing. Since men invest more than a women due to privilege, any cis-gendered male will pay a Privilige Tax on stocks and bonds. This tax will be adjusted according to income level and race. Proceeds of the Privilege Tax will go directly into funding the gender-equal fuel policy.

Holy shit its expensive. About $6 a sqft for materials when building a road, and about $0.25 sqft to power annually.

This, however, is the only solution I see to Sweden's problem.

EDIT: They make fucking Volvos in Sweden. Those things are supposed to be unbeatable in the snow. They shouldn't need to do the roads at all.

I actually thought after reading just the headline that they mandated women to do half of the snow removal and the women didn't turn up.

Expected to hear that exactly half of the people cleaning up the snow would be female, yet found this nonsense instead. Swedish feminists at it again.

I think is in the order of $20 per sq. ft. so installation only for a 2 lane road (24 ft wide), 1 mile long would cost 1.27 million US$. That is I believe without installing a thermal insulation that would limit heat dispersion. Adding energy cost and one would assume it would start becoming too expensive installing it over a whole city.
I believe in Europe they use asphalt to pave roads. When the asphalt layer is scrubbed off to be replaced (more often than in warmer climates I would assume), the system would be very susceptible to damage from the scraping machinery.
The time to do all the work would be much longer than just replacing the asphalt. In case of major roads, you can't block traffic to let's say a hospital or a police station for that long.
How would you heat this thing, would you put a boiler every mile?! What if one of them breaks? Whole traffic is blocked because of one mile stretch of the road has 3 ft of snow. Not that reliable.

Would be easier to put a gigantic mirror/lens in orbit or use the space weapon from the Die Another Day Bond movie to melt the snow/ice. I bet there's a lot of money that can be done if one could pull that off.

Some nuance is in order here. Which obviously you're not going to find on The Local or Breitbart with their click-bait "LOL Sweden" coverage.

You're not either going to find a single real Swede approving of the idea of feminist snow removal. It's the machination of the Green Party whose only ability to achieve any amount of political power is by throwing their votes to the Social Democrat party and as a result being given some minor positions.

With this single action they've managed to alienated the entire populace from their luxury agenda fit for people living in the inner city with walking distance to the microbrewery or marketing Bureau where they work. It's a prime example of their elitist incompetence at gauging the will of the people. The nationalist party, which already has thrice their number of votes in the latest election, just have to twiddle their thumbs and welcome the new supporters as a result of the greens idiocy.

So in a sense it's good that these things happens occasionally so that people are reminded of what complete ivory Tower shut-ins it is that are governing them. It's not however any kind of active choice by the citizen of Stockholm.
