Melbourne cinema cancels screening of 'The Red Pill' after petition

Another day in Melbourne and another example of an organisation bowing to feminists desire to curtail free speech.

A Melbourne cinema has cancelled a screening of a documentary on men’s rights activism for fear it could be “potentially damaging to our credibility” following online uproar.

The Red Pill, a documentary by film-maker Cassie Jaye, was due to screen at Palace Cinema’s Kino cinema on Sunday 6 November, at an event organised by Men’s Rights Melbourne. The film professes to take a “balanced approach” to the men’s rights movement, documenting Jaye’s “life-altering journey where she would never see the world the same way again”. But it has faced backlash from members of the feminist community and has been criticised as unbalanced and in favour of men’s rights groups. (I bet there'd be a similar backlash over a film that was see as in favour of feminism... oh wait)

The Australian premiere was cancelled on Wednesday, after an online petition calling on the cinema to abandon the “misogynistic propaganda film” eclipsed 2,000 signatures. (Is that really all it takes these days? 2000 keyboard warriors who probably aren't even from Melbourne)

Susie Smith, who founded the petition on change.org, said the film gave a platform to views similar to those of Barack “Roosh V” Obama, a self-described neo-masculinist whose planned visit to Australia caused a stir with immigration in February.

“This is the kind of disgusting, violent message that is totally out of line with Australian values and law,” Smith wrote.

“Please do not associate your cinema with the kind of people who teach men how to violate women physically and emotionally. Please stand with the women everywhere, and do not promote misogynistic hate.”

Bolding done by me.

Great publicity for the movie, Streisand Effect in action. The casual audience they are trying to reach weren't going to pay $13 to sit for a couple of hours on this documentary ayway, but now many will watch it online.

“Nothing is more useful than to look upon the world as it really is.”

Right, because a woman would never violate a man's emotions.

We have a thread for this movie, 'Feminist Filmmaker (ha) Starts Kickstarter For Documentary on MRM', though the title isn't very specific.

"A stripper last night brought up "Rich Dad Poor Dad" when I mentioned, "Think and Grow Rich""

Ah right, no wonder I couldn't find it. I did a quick search and nothing came up.

Yeah, kind of the main reason we need to enforce more accurate thread titles, versus the click-baity bullshit.

They mentioned Roosh name in the article, though I doubt he had anything to do with the making of the AVFM movie.

And isn't Australia where there are "Parenting" blogs where "mothers" pose fully naked with their 8-year-old sons to teach them "consent" by permitting their sons to finger their sexual parts, but teaching that the mother can change her "consent"? I'm not sharing any link or photo because even though it's considered "Parenting" & "Sexual Consent" in Australia, the same people will accuse men of posting obscene content.

Double standards in Australia for them to permit "mothers" to take pictures of themselves naked with their underage sons whilst banning a Red Pill movie, but the AVFM movie will be streamed online more often because of the negative publicity. Any publicity is good publicity.

^ I don't visit those feminist Parenting sites, but someone on another forum complained that while Facebook was busy enforcing bans on Manosphere FB pages, a few # of the Clementine Ford supporters post pictures of themselves naked with their underage sons "bathing together", which created a wave of findings that indeed, feminist mothers are "teaching" their sons "consent" by posing naked & then playing Orwellian with the on.

Orwellian because not only is FB not removing such obscene content which is borderline REAL child pornography, the feminist mothers are sick fuckers for playing mind games with their underaged sons by "teaching" them how to finer their feminist mother's breast, vagina or anus, but out of nowhere, she "revokes her consent" which traumatizes the child because he is at no fault when it was his mother who posed naked in front of him & "taught" him how to finger her shithole and fish-smelling cunt, but under Feminist Sheria Law, her son is now a "wapist" because the feminist mother revoked her consent while she was permitting her son to go fist deep inside her asshole.

It's not a myth, but I ain't sharing no links before the same feminists accuse RVF of hosting "obscene content", even when those same feminists justify their molestation of kids by labeling it as "consent" & "motherhood".

It's a fucked up world we live in these days because of the feminist movement & their depravity...but hosting a Men Rights movie? CENSORED FOR MISOGYNY!

I have never heard of this before. I cannot imagine that was allowed in Australia, no way.

I just need a couple more outboard motors before I cut the basslink cable and take my beloved redneck state a little farther east.

Hey there easy, easy.

The fact Australia started as a men's prison colony was, is, and forever will be the death penalty for Australia's reputation.

Am I missing something here?

How can an online petition shut down acts of a business (a private one [i.e. non-govt], from what I understand) that is doing nothing illegal?

I like to think I know more than the average Seppo about Aus culture, but please fill me in if this is an actual legal thing or just a business reacting to negative PR?

They can't force it, but they DID get the film censored from fear of a feminazi rage against the business.

I signed the petition, but as others have said, OZ is fucked, the country is cucked and the movie will not screen.

You only have to look at how they responded to Roosh trolling them to realise how hopeless it is downunder.

The disconnect between the mind set and beliefs of your average Australian compared to what comes out of Canberra is absolutely mind boggling.

The policies our government bases their actions on are so utterly out of line with the needs and desires of our country that soon we will be completely fucked. The industries, ideas, lifestyles, and attitude that made Australia a decent place to live and got us off the ground are being shunned as we attempt to make way for a more "modern" or "progressive" lifestyle that makes absolutely no sense in the context of our country and its citizens.

Australia has the potential to be the greatest place in the world

Too bad we have these stains running our beautiful country into the ground

We have a great tradition of masculinity that has carried us from a colony of mostly convicts to one of the richest countries in the world, even with such a tiny population . This bullshit needs to be stomped out before we fall even further into the deep, dark pit of hatred and despair that Feminism is creating for western civilisation.

From the article.

Quote:Quote:

A letter published on the counter-petition page states that Palace Kino was unaware that the screening would be a public event, and that the "overwhelming number of responses, many from regular Kino customers, has really resonated with us and has led us to reconsider the appropriateness of going ahead with the booking."

Basically they were scared they would piss off their regular customers (read feminists) if they showed the film so they cancelled.
