Watch The Throne: Yay or Nay?

I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with the album, although Frank Ocean did his thing on the two tracks he appears in. Hopefully, he blows up after this.
The RZA produced "New Day" was incredibly underwhelming, and the Neptunes track, "Gotta Have It" shouldn't have made the final cut.
At this point I think "Murder To Excellence" is the best track.
I gave it one listen through my headphones and I will give it another one through the speakers before officially calling it "wack".

From a technical standpoint, it was well produced. Good sounds.
But the lyrics seem pretty void of any meaning or feeling. There's nothing I can identify with. They could've at least talked about banging hoes, but it's mostly about money and name brands I've never heard of.
They are taking themselves very seriously (don't blame them), but it's not a "fun" album.
I like Niggas in Paris and Ham the most.

Still letting it sink in.. not much for me to play in the club. I really loved BP3 and Dark Fantasy. I was hoping for a mix. I agree with Roosh, I am having trouble relating lyrically.
Current faves:
Why I Love You
No Church in the Wild

I feel like the point of this album was to boast how they are the kings of the music industry. They are telling us how they live like kings; doing what ever the fuck and who ever the fuck they want!
I'd give the album a 6/10. I'm surprised Rick Ross didnt have feature.

I thought the album was kind of underwhelming too. I was kinda hoping they would be more of a rap group like A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, or Wu Tang but they never really play off one another's lyrics or go back and fourth... With the exception of "Gotta Have It" It just feels like a Kanye song featuring Jay-Z. It was nice to hear some introspective songs on the CD though.
"New Day" and "Thats My Bitch" were my faves.
"Welcome to the Jungle" felt like the worst on the CD. Does anyone else think Swizz Beatz is terrible? He comes out with one awesome beat a year and the rest are complete garbage.

No Church in the Wild was hard as fuck. I don't see how Kanye deserves to rap alongside Jigga for that many tracks (even the new shittier version of Jigga)

Overall the album is good but doesnt live up to the potential of the two superstars previous efforts. It doesnt feel as cohesive as other recent collabo albums, such as Distant relatives w/ Nas and Damian (better content) or Bad Meets evil with slim and royce (better lyricism).
Standout tracks are : Murder to excellence, Niggas in Paris, New day and No church in the wild and the joy(from the delux,ed.)
"I'm not afraid of dying, I'm afraid of not trying. Everyday hit every wave, like I'm Hawaiian"
