I used to think the BBC was a little biased but overall a good thing, but now I greatly resent essentially being taxed to be indoctrinated with lefty bullshit. I understand hiring more 'diversity', even if it is bullshit, but actually FIRING a man for being a white man?

This is what I don't get - white men are told how unbelievably privileged they are and how everybody is oppressed by them, but how many times does this affirmative action bullshit happen to anything BUT white men? Everybody else is protected from this shit!

How is the man's replacement going to feel, knowing that the whole cast and audience is viewing them as the pity hire, the one who cost their colleague / favourite presenter their job? It's fucking insulting of the BBC to do this to women/gays/POC/whatever! The soft bigotry of low expectations by Guardian-reading, upper-middle class, white tossers, what a fucking surprise.

This story is absurd and unacceptable. This is the kind of outcome that should be presented to any progressives who claim to be simply unable to understand how it is that people are becoming so anti-PC that a man like Donald Trump can seriously challenge for the nation's highest elected office. The answer is simple: people are offering an equal and opposite reaction to the current state of affairs.

I'm glad this was mentioned. It is clearly observable fact to anyone familiar with this topic and the environments to which it is relevant, but why is this so? I posit three reasons:

1. Politics. White women are numerous and they vote at higher rates than many other demographics. Calling them out is politically costly.

Do you really need the BBC in your life?

I haven't paid for a TV license for 5 years. I have a TV, but no facility for receiving live TV. The TV License inspectors are welcome to inspect my set up. I don't use iplayer or watch broadcast TV.

Being someone who worked in a fortune 500 corporation in a management role in the past, When they mean diversity, they actually mean white women and her gay transgender friends only. I have never witness or met a Asian dude that was promoted to a VP role, if they were asian it was a asian women, unless it was in the internet field. Where women cannot effectively work or compete.

Affirmative action has been proven many times by academic research to only benefit mostly white women. Period. Thats why colleges and university are full of them in Admin staff to students. 60/40 in favor of women.

Very interesting, I have often wondered if it is only middle to upper middle class White women who benefit from Western diversity because as far as I can see, Feminism et cetera is a form of sibling rivalry (i.e. the upper middle class and aristocratic Suffragettes wanted equal inheritance laws concerning Lord Daddy's estate).

I have wondered if debauched, young middle class women's 'bi' stage is just to get them into the LBTG victim ranks so that their corporate job applications will be looked upon favorably by HR departments. Once their career is set, they'll look for an even richer man.

When Obama beat Clinton for the White House in 2008, I thought that race trumped sex in the Diversity Top Trumps ™ card game. Maybe it does or maybe Clinton was just unelectable, which would mean that she is even less electable now post-secretary of state. I have worked on projects at a major Hollywood studio, and I can tell you that their diversity drive is all window dressing. Most of the upper management are white males, and the lower ranks are flooded with minority women, almost all east Asian. They tick two boxes, female and minority. The highest you would see a non white person was maybe a director...

I once went to a black event at this company and the highest ranked guy there was a director - that's pretty embarrassing ,because if there was any kind of other event, you may get guys who are C Level executives.

I remember one time being the only male in my corner of the office, with 7 women around me. 5 were east Asian.

Even though Los Angeles has a large Mexican population, there was only one in my team, and she was a dyke. The admin was a gay black guy. The only other black guy on my floor gave off a strong gay vibe too. I guess it would be too much for them to hire a normal masculine heterosexual black guy - white liberals can't deal with that....they'd rather deal with a bunch of quiet Asian women and effeminate faggots.

I'm originally from the UK and I noticed over 20 years ago that there was a fucking Indian on nearly every news TV show (I'm Indian myself). The minorities who work at the BBC are the "right" kind of minority - in other words they come middle class backgrounds and have been to Oxford of Cambridge. Working class people (especially whites) are shitted on by the elite - they're the first people to get fucked over when "refugees" arrive from another countries. The liberal fucks who OK all of this live in the whitest areas imaginable.

I once worked for local government in London, and my office was all women and half of them were dykes. The head of my office was a black lesbian. There was a woman in my office who was a black Jewish lesbian who had a Pakistani Muslim girlfriend - if this woman was disabled they probably would have made her head of the fucking department!

The BBC recently did a TV show where somebody travelled the world learning about religion and drugs - he was a gay Muslim! That guy's won the diversity lottery!

At my current company my coworkers are Sri Lankan man, Chinese woman, Korean woman, Vietnamese woman, Mexican woman, Puerto Rican woman, black male, Russian woman - notice who's missing? White male? Even after all that, my company wants to have "more diversity" - I guess I might see faggots and trannies turning up in my office soon..

I have noticed that the other accent they seem okay with on the BBC is a South Dublin accent. Dublin 4 would be the area. Maybe I just recognize it because i was in that area for a while. Definitely no one on the broadcast sounds like my friends from Essex, who are some of the most entertaining speakers I have ever been around.

It's interesting reading these comments. Corporations do not use affirmative action in any way that substantially increases the number of blacks, latinos, etc; who work for the company other than in supporting roles.

Most white men hire other white men or someone who closely resembles what they look like. I've worked for large scale corporations since I was in college and I've seen this play-out so many times. The statement, there are no qualified blacks and other minorities in the hiring pool is so rigged because most of the jobs posted on these sites, etc; they have already been filled from the inside or from a friend of a friend who knows the hiring manager, which is essentially affirmative action but people call those connections, etc;

My friend told me that people in Britain pay a television license fee so that BBC is completely free of advertisement - they would still make money even if people boycott.
