Power Plate Machine- Does Anyone Use It At The Gym?

I've been to a few gyms that have the Power Plate machines ( The machine that vibrates) and was curious if anyone here uses it when they're at the gym?

I rarely see people using it, maybe one or two guys during the week, I think it helps to include it in with your other lifting routines as I notice good pumps from it.

They've got something similar at my gym, looks like it works pretty well:

why do you think in your opinion? I think it stimulates your fast twitch muscles when doing push-ups, squats, etc; on it before moving on to your regular lift routine.

Post a picture of it, no idea what the hell this is.

Looks retarded, they also cost 12k a piece.

You could have over a dozen fine Olympic lifting setups for that price.

The only way to stimulate fast twitch muscle fibers is to lift very heavy for a few reps, lift explosively for a few reps, or lift a moderate weight to failure. Doesn't have anything to do with instability or vibration or whatever.

Your body gets good at what you use it for. Do you find yourself jumping and walking on vibrating platforms throughout the day? Squatting double bodyweight is going to do a lot more for your stability than hoisting little dumbbells on a vibrating platform.

Would bang both of them on the Power Plate then go back to the free weights.

Women fall for the stupidest fitness gimmicks. I'd expect a man to know better.

I'll put the Power Plate right next to my shake weights and Ab Master 2000.

My chiropractor has me lay on a raised mat and put the base of my spine on the power plate for five minutes. He says that the vibrations help increase blood flow and loosen up the area to get me prepped for my back adjustment.

Is it a gimmick? Probably, but it feels nice, like one of those massage chairs at the mall.

However, the workout in the video above can all be done on regular step platform that costs $12, not $12k. Retarded.

Basically everything Hannibal has said above.

Unless you have a special requirement or a specific medical application like in Eddie_Winslow's case it's just another toy for the gym.

lol, actually alot of college and professional athletes use this machine. not sure it compares to shake weights and ab master...

who cares what it costs, they have them at the gym where you work out, why would anyone go out and buy one for 12K.

Of course, you do your normal lifting and just mix this in for variety.

I'm not trying to be the spokesperson for the machine, I was curious if anyone else here had any experience with them. The photo of the chicks using the machine makes it look super cheesy.

I call them old lady butt jigglers. My gym has 5 yet only one squat rack. They're a useless machine.

Women love them, I wonder why. I only ever saw them in over priced commercial gyms but if you did leg-raised push-ups (your legs raised up higher than your head), and your arms on the plate it would kill your arms pretty quickly.

I want to see a source for this and not some astroturfed athlete who gets sponsored by the company to push them (like Arnold with the Bullworker). I'm willing to give it a fair shake, maybe the videos aren't representative of the tool (like pink dumbbells versus real dumbbells), but I am skeptical of their effectiveness for any kind of real application.

I've used it before. It's definitely different but I wouldn't go out of my way to work out on it.

I have never seen on.

If Arnold Schwarzenegger or Lou Ferrigno did not use one, then you should not use it either.

If you never seen one or tried it, how can you comment?

Using Arnold and Lou as examples is flawed, they both utilized Steroids, does that mean Steroids is the right choice for every man?

It works for me using it as a warm-up for heavy lifting.

An old man told me that it was made for women, they say that vibrating things make the fat disappear or something like that...

I don't know if it's true but I'm pretty sure that women can't sit on something that vibrate !

[Image: KySx5PR.jpg?1][Image: 41riK2QdvRL._SY355_.jpg]

It's weird to even find women meditating on it for hours...

There is something catchy with this... You should really try it if you don't mind geting kicked off from it by some obese woman

Tell them too much, they wouldn't understand; tell them what they know, they would yawn.
They have to move up by responding to challenges, not too easy not too hard, until they paused at what they always think is the end of the road for all time instead of a momentary break in an endless upward spiral

Upon further inspection, I've decided that this thing is designed for women to have casual orgasms at the gym.

Same reason why women ride horses.
