Watch the first one, one of the main character works for a company selling home defense technology, which make him and his family rich, the tech is not your average ADT security, this tech is total lockdown of the house turning it into a fortress (borders works after all?) with a Tony Stark like control room. The family is upper class and is told in the intro poverty is down so is unemployment, but also in the intro you see people getting killed and massacred, these people look poor and homeless.

I watched the first one I was thinking, so rich people will be fine in their fortress while the common people will kill each other.

Few minutes later she goes ahead and says earnestly, like not as a joke, that the Purge would be a "good thing" because it lets people release all this "pent up frustration" so they don't have to be violent the rest of the time. And that it would "reduce crime" obviously not counting the fact that the Purge itself is all about letting crime happen. She actually thinks it would be a good idea. Literally. I haven't seen either of the movies, but I watched a review, and I saw the Rick and Morty spoof, and that's enough for me to be fairly confidant in my assessment of this film as r-type/Leftoid projection.

The concept of legalizing criminal behavior - whether rape on private property (as written in semi-satire by Roosh) or via a total free-for-all purge is just mind-numbingly stupid. And the SJWs assuming that they would come out on top over the people who bullied them is nuts as well. Nevermind that the 0,01% could wipe out 50% of the population if they ever wanted to. They could hire entire armies - heck even most of the US soldiers doing private gigs during the Purge and then kill off anyone they want. They could hire NSA agents and crack most security systems, so even your high end bunker would not work.

All those thought experiments of legalized violence are on idiocracy level of stupidity thinking that those things would ever be positive in any way or form. People would not go out and legally kill their dog and children and the next day forget that their neighbor just slaughtered almost all of them. There would be much more crime aside the Purge time. Also the ban on explosive weapons could not be implemented. You would have to have God's surveillence system to punish everyone.

I agree with Scorpion - while movies always had propaganda in them even in the 1920s, the input was minor and relatively balanced up until the mid 1990s. Resurrecting this old thread because I got roped into seeing the latest installment of this blatant propaganda reel. The First Purge looked like a cheap forgettable B feature so I went along for the ride, not realizing anything about this series of laughable leftoid fantasy. Needless to say, I left wondering whether it was funded by Soros himself or an SJW slush fund at the DNC.

They ticked every box with this ridiculous fantasy fest of bogeymen: the NRA, Blackwater, Eeevil white men, the KKK, conspiracies about white people deliberately poisoning black communities with violence, etc. Tactical (white, male, of course) operators gunning down innocent black folks while wearing black faced masks - give me a break! Fear not, they are saved by a crack dealer turned good guy and a homicidal maniac who shows up at just the right moment to kill whitey.

It's been my experience that good propaganda is somewhat plausible. Yet the reality check wasn't even perfunctorily performed on this dud - it's like they didn't even care. The bad news is the true mouth breathing SJW idiots out there will eat this up, but the good news is there were maybe ten people in the theater, tops - literally nobody is paying for this crap. I'm stunned it made any money at all, but no-name talent is cheap these days and neither the props nor the set were anything special.

Scorpion is right about the infectious tendency of entertainment, generally. This is what brought about the production code from the great depression until about the 1960s. Hollywood had to clean up their act or no bank would finance them. Alas, when their financial situation improved, away went the rules and with them, the subtle attempts to influences, replaced by much more overt and caustic messages we see in films today. Before they at least had to be creative, now they just pump the message right at the audience, who, generations removed from Leave it to Beaver, indoctrinated in public schools and sent off to (((college))), are beyond numb to the levels of manipulation thrown at them.

I'm old enough to remember in the early eighties when local network affiliate in Boston refused to show the airing of The Warriors because of so many protests from viewers over how violent the movie was. They complied with the wishes of the viewers and did not show the network premier. As a kid I have to admit I was pissed, but they were right - that movie had an effect wherever it was shown - fights broke out, kids got stabbed, real deal. Now, that film seems watered down and quaint, and it's difficult to imagine the controversy it created. Back then, a modern series like The Walking Dead would be an extreme R rated movie if anything, and definitely not a regular TV show accessible to anyone - regardless of BS ratings no parent pays attention to.
