Venezuela is collapsing

Venezuela is collapsing

A country of 30 million people is approaching failed status. They're seeing high crime, hyperinflation, protests, and low availability of drugs, foods, and household essentials like toilet paper. Reports are they starting eating their cats and dogs. When food is not available, it is a matter of days until there is full blown chaos.

Through the magic of socialism.

I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?

Its a perfect example of a government relying on socialism and OPM (Other peoples money) in regards to oil revenues. They were one of the countries begging OPEC to stop over production.

I've kept an eye out for this country since reading up on bandits robbing trucks full of supplies. it isn't a very safe place at all apparently.

The government is insane though. They have been blaming everything under the sun but themselves for this disaster, including foreign powers out to subvert their democracy. [Image: lol.gif] Ever since Chavez died its been getting worse.

That can't happen here in the U.S. My liberal cognitive dissonance prevents it.

While a tiny desert country like Israel which is barely the size of New Jersey (until the Jews turned it into paradise) is not only self-sufficient, but exports $3 Billion worth of food and fresh produce a year.

I say let 'em starve.

Every time someone vomits a "Bernie is great!" post, someone should show them a Venezuela report.

Maybe if they can export $3Bill worth of food a year, they shouldn't leach $3Bill a year off of US taxpayers.

Just another attack on the BRICS by the World financial elite of NY and London. They just operated a coup d'Etat in Brazil, they put a sorry-ass puppet in Argentina, and now Venezuela.
An these scenes could be any country, any day since the whole system in about to collapse.

I heard a story on NPR of all places, about five years ago, profiling the situation there. The NPR reporter actually explained that the Chavismo philosophy was irrational and obviously based on untruths, but a voting majority of Venezuelans was willfully unrational, and was prepared to believe the country's problems were caused by a foreign conspiracy, against all logic or reason.

At the time, i found this idea remarkable. The idea that unreason could have such a strong and pervasive basis in the electorate seemed impossible.

What a difference a few years makes. Now this spirit has spread over all of western civilization, most particularly among the governmental, academic, and cultural elites.

If Trump and the various nationalist movements fail, we all need to be ready to weather this kind of crisis.

Agree. Venezuela and Brazil were the front dominoes before the final one which is Russia. Putin knows that hence him tooling up. The ultimate showdown is all but inevitable. We better hope that the Judoka comes out on top.

This is my pro-globalist side. A failed country should be treated as an enemy to the world. Meaning joint forces go in, take it over, and rule it until order is restored. Constitution changed, laws, education propaganda, everything. All leaders cleared out. People of that country get no decision-making power until seen best fit which could be 5 years at minimum if not a decade or two.

If you let your country get to this point your culture has failed you and your values and ethics need to change.

Exception are Islamic countries.

What specifically did the USA do to speed this along? Particularly after their failed Chavez coup.

From the outside it looks like massive incompetence and corruption coming home to roost.

Hell, if anything, with Obama at the helm and his being respectful of Chavez in the past, I would have guessed we were trying to help Venezuela out, like we are helping out the murderous Castro brothers in Cuba now.

We Fu@#$ing Warned them. What is happening in Venezuela can happen to any country, including the USA. But I guess Cubans are not going to be the only one in South America to suffer for all these Big Government Ideologies.

There should be a couple of more countries in the western hemisphere such as Venezuela or Cuba in order for others to see what really can happen if a balance is not reached between government and the pillars of free market.

No, but recent events in Brazil and now Venezuela will be used as a springboard to attack and undermine states like Bolivia, Cuba and Ecuador who are outside of Washington's orbit. This is about consolidating the 'backyard' before the elites move onto the biggest prize.....Russia. It is all part of the globalists geo-political plan for world hegemon. Russia is endgame. They are just lining them up before moving in for the kill.

This brother. This. I grew up in Cuba and came to the US when I was a teenager though I was still able to finish College in the US. To my surprise, what did I see in all College Departments except Engineering and Science? That Colleges were a messed up place. Very liberal, in favor of big government, and anti-bussiness. To my surprise, High School Education is the same way too. So, my opinion enjoy the decline. I see it everyday. Young Adults that are not prepared to face the realities of the world and think the world own them something. Two days ago, there was this kid that work with me, 25 years old making around 75000 a year and talking about the one percent and 99 percent. The guy compared to the rest of the world, not only the US, is in the top 5 percent just because he was born in the US and the fucker is still complaining. Its all fucked and they not even see it. Either way, these people should feel the Venezuelan Bern.

I can agree with different opinions here about this. They brought it on themselves, conspiracies, socialism gone mad etc.

This doesn't mean they're after Russia because Russians are not like the people of South America, they've never had an easy ride or had the national demand to want free stuff regardless of where it comes from.

What interests me is that this can happen in every country so I can't look down my nose at humans doing what they must to survive. History tells us that these situations create inhumane conditions and if reports of them eating animals is correct then humans are not far off from that list.

Towns and cities in ages gone went through famine and the first humans to get cannibalised were children and the weak.

Simply put, there are too many humans around taking up food, water and medical supplies for something terrible not to happen. 30 million people are after basic supplies and the best way to get it is through violence or you just die. Simple as that.

UK has close to 70 million. A simple storm wrecks havoc on food supplies and in less than a day most shops are bare.

The US has 300 million or more? Europe a combined 400-500 million?

If our food chain breaks down you can place bets on the majority of people dying out.

Ignoring the political aspect of this situation (I know this is the Politics & War subforum, but indulge me a brief segue), this really demonstrates the necessity of keeping at least a few weeks' worth of food stored in your home. It's easy and takes zero effort. Just buy it and store it. Food distribution networks are extremely fragile in modern society. This sort of thing could happen anywhere for any number of reasons (natural disasters, epidemics, terrorism, martial law, oil disruptions, electrical grid failures, etc...). People turn into violent savages very quickly without access to food. You don't want to be around them in that type of situation, and you certainly don't want to be one of them.

Agreed.

I just want to add, for those in areas that allow it, I would recommend arming yourself. We can all see here how much trouble the world is in, in general. No need to not be prepared.
