Some activist women are pushing a new workplace initiative called the “period policy,” an employee benefit that would give women time off for their menstrual cycles.

This “period policy” was launched recently by a company called Coexist, a social community group that employs mostly women in Bristol, England.

Bex Baxter, Coexist director, insists that giving women time off during their menstrual cycle is just good business.

“I have managed many female members of staff over the years and I have seen women at work who are bent over double because of the pain caused by their periods,” the 40-year-old businesswoman said.

Baxter went on to say it was “unfair” to expect women to have to function in society during their periods. “At Coexist we are very understanding. If someone is in pain — no matter what kind — they are encouraged to go home,” she said.

“But, for us,” Baxter added, “we wanted a policy in place which recognizes and allows women to take time for their body’s natural cycle without putting this under the label of illness.”

“I want us to break down that shame and replace the negativity with positivity.” Baxter concluded, saying, “If you work with your natural rhythms, your creativity and intelligence is more fulfilled and that’s got to be good for business.”

Not everyone agrees with the policy. Obstetrician Dr Karen Morton told the Daily Mail that the concept is not good for women’s status in society and makes them look too weak.

“There are enough medications and surgical options to help,” Morton said. “Offering time off is a blow to women in the workforce. Women shouldn’t be at home suffering in silence. If her working life is disturbed by extreme period pain, then she must demand help.”

Coexist is far from the first company to give women time off during their periods. Japan has had such a policy since 1947, but the benefit requires a doctor’s note to implement. Other Asian countries such as Taiwan, South Korea, and Indonesia have similar policies.

But women work as hard as men! Muh wage gap! Any man that works in H.R. who is smart, makes a point of trying to hire as many men as possible. Between the maternity leave, this new period leave, sexually assault allegations, sex discrimination lawsuits (paging Ellen Pao), not to mention female drama at work...need I go on? I fully support this.

If you have to hire women, get them out of the damn way when they act menstral. Trust me, they aren't going to do any meaningful work anyway.

Also, I believe pregnant women should be gone the first day they find out they are carrying a baby.

I would be annoyed to work with women getting extra time off. However, I think it this would be really good as it would destroy the myth that men and women are the same. Periods are their achilles heel. Notice how tampon adverts try and show women being really strong and unaffected by their periods. One I saw recently had a woman on a zipwire, over a massive drop, with a huge smile on her face. This type of policy might help to shatter the illusion of the strong unaffected woman.

I agree that women that are in a ton of pain, or are pregnant, make for more inefficient workers. They obviously have different needs from a health standpoint than men. The problem is, ones this Period Policy goes into place, you can bet your last dollar they will demand to be compensated at the same rate as the men who are now taking over their workloads.

Would this effectively mean all women getting an excused 5-day vacation every month? I don't see a problem with this if they don't have a problem being relegated to being stuck with second-rate pay and second-rate responsibility. I don't see how they could ever expect to hold any kind of position of serious importance if they are going to be MIA 25% of the time.

Exactly, they will have to admit being less effective than men. This would be a huge blow to feminism. Look at the criticism of the idea in the OP

Even a woman doesn't want this, because she knows the game would be up. Clearly this would be a huge blow to the idea of Gender Equality, and provide massive ammunition to those of us here who dont believe in the idea.

And add to that, I heard on sat radio that women want time off work for getting a new pet just like time off for a new baby.

We are living in an age where nothing can be identified or valued any differently than anything else. When a baby and a dog are the same level of event we are in trouble.

Things like this and 'meternity' leave are why women didn't get the vote.

Once the great deleveraging gets under way, all of this bullshit will go right out the window. A lot of people are going to realize that they were being compensated far above the value that they created...

loljk they'll just blame someone else.

These types of women can have some permanent time off from work, for free. I'll just hire more men. No quotas to meet here.

The entitlement that is a fundamental part of female psychology will never be satiated. There was even a thread on this forum about a woman who demanded that employers give 'find-yourself' leave.

At this point it's inevitable that some woman or other is going to start demanding a basic income grant for all females, regardless of whether they work or not. Because being female is hard and stuff.

They'd probably spin it as:
- Women have higher personal expenses, for example they have to buy sanitary pads
- They earn less money, allegedly
- So women are entitled to free money to compensate for their lower income and high expenses. It's only fair!

Here's a good idea. How about not work in the 1st place and be an SAHM instead.

Save our economy needless costs.

Did anyone know that it was an accident that women got equal rights as men? back when the north and south colonies were separate and abraham lincoln wanted to put the

proclamation to give equal rights regardless of race and the men of the south though they would add women so that the north would be out of their mind to approve the

ratification of it. And thus women's right was born. I think the creators knew not to give equal rights when across the board obviously in terms of productivity were at the head

while women support . But I feel like alot of people aren't even aware of even the history of women rights was an accident.

God says, "So that you will like them."
Adam says to God, "God, why did you make women so warm and cuddly?"

I disagree. Unfortunately, things don't work out this way. If feminism (and all other ideologies of the SJW spectrum) were susceptible to rational criticism and evaluation, it would be gone long ago. Hell, it would never have taken root in the first place. You said it yourself, initiatives such as this one provide ammunition only to those of us who don't believe in the idea. The majority of people however will believe in whatever is served to them from above by the elites and whatever elevates one's social status, be it feminism, genderism, homosexualism...

As much as I'd like to be spared having to deal with women in the workplace, even if it's only for one-week each month, I still think the whole idea is bullshit. Why? Because you just KNOW they'll end up paying these bitches for being on the rag because it'll be considered "sexist" not to.

A woman shouldn't be able to get away with working 75% of the shifts a man works and still get 100% of the pay. As this would, in effect, be the outright theft of 25% of a man's time. If they ever enact this "period policy" on a grand scale, men should start speaking out against a time-wage gap like feminists have been bitching about the supposed gender wage gap for decades...the only difference is, we'd actually be telling the truth.

This is a great example of feminists simultaneously holding two conflicting beliefs.

1. Women are equal to men in every way and any differences in ability or production are a result of social conditioning.

2. It's unfair and sexist to expect women to function normally in society while on their periods. Women face unique challenges because they have to deal with a natural body cycle that men don't, and society needs to allow for this.

You have to pick one or the other, feminist cunts. Which is it gonna be?

So a large group of women who work together will be in sync with their cycles. They'll all have to take off every 28 days, effectively crippling the company.

Anyone confusing the woman's-equality movement with the female-supremacy movement needs to wise up.

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.
