She has a certain innocence that can only come from a person of incredibly strong spirit. By living a life of suffering, you can tell that it formed her character. It is an interesting paradox. Those of us born into free countries are really spoiled into not appreciating everything that we have, while this girl who went through hell has such a sweet and gentle soul. Fuck! That stupid North Korean bitch is a fraud! I just watched a couple of her videos, and her stories are completely inconsistent.

In the following video, at 7:30, she talks about her father dying of cancer, and how she had to bury his ashes.

Then in this video, at 5:25 she and her mother talk about paying men to move her father's body into the mountains to bury him.

There is a big difference between burying a body and burying ashes - these are not small details that could be accidentally misrepresented. If she can't even get that part of her story correct, how much else is complete bullshit? Yes, I know this supposedly happened when she was 13, and memories from childhood tend to get muddied, but not something as significant as the difference between burying ashes and the body of one's father.

But hey, if she can smile sweetly, shed a few fakes tears and make people feel sorry for her, she can make money from the sales of her book (which she did). She's also become a South Korean TV star that makes fun of North Korea. Her lies - and based on the above, I assume there are a lot more lies - are clearly a very good career strategy.

Also, how the hell does she speak English so well (ignoring the accent) despite living in South Korea and only being exposed to the outside world for a few years? Very few Koreans living in Korea speak English that well. And of course it's a complete coincidence that the one English-speaking North Korean refugee just happens to be pretty. Something is very fishy.

I will never trust my gut instinct again.

^Good lesson you took for yourself there. Once I learned about some historic details, I made the decision to never go by what people said ever again. If they can't back it up somehow, I'll always remain very sceptical - no matter the amount of crocodile tears and alleged "details".
