It is becoming a "regular" that high ranking officials are charged with sexual harassment as well as assault.

Maybe it is the rank, or maybe it is their enemies - but lately, Israel is experiencing a lot of claims on that subject.

The problem this time is (which is sometime the case) that both sides have credibility.

Buchris has undergone polygraph testing (came out that he is telling the truth about not sleeping with his accusers), and several people including his former
chief of staff (a female) who support him.
On the other side, there are now 3 female soldiers who are willing to testify. Two served together and another one is not an acquainted with those two.

Avital Ben Nun, the attorney of the prosecutors has her own little interesting story.
A decade ago, while being assistant district attorney she fell in love with a drug diller and lost her job.

Any time you mix masculine men with women closely together in military settings, you're going to have fraternizations. It's just inevitable.

And then, of course, when the trysts go sour, or when expectations fall short for one reason or another, the accusations come flying.

All of this nonsense is yet another argument for either (1) taking efforts to keep the genders separate in the military, or (2) having a strong "no fraternization" rule.

Neither option is very good, but that's about the best that can be done.

Not a big fan of Israel either but those Palestinians shot in the video were the ones running around and stabbing random innocent Jews a couple months ago. Same thing with the woman in bleeding out on the ground. She randomly stabbed an IDF soldier.

The little kid bleeding on the ground with a broken leg was even rushed to and treated at an Israeli hospital despite killing a young Jewish kid.

PErsonally would have let those animals bleed out and die.

I dislike Israel too but you have to consider what kind of enemies they are dealing with. Israel is the one exercising restraint in this matter. They could easily turn the Gaza Strip into a glass crater within a week if they wanted.

It seems that there was sufficient evidence to go to court:

Almost every few months you have a media blowout regarding an officer allegedly harassing a female soldier.

The IDF is not fully integrated, but is very close to it.

Settle down. Noone here is a zionist. The idea that anyone here is a zionist or has sympathies towards the Jewish elite actually made me laugh.

I won't speak for Samseau but it's readily apparent from his posting history that he's probably not a Zionist hardliner, a fan of mainstream jewish elite media, or has neo-con sympathies.

The fact is if you are talking about historical land the Muslim claim is non existent in Israel. Palestinians got dealt a raw deal for sure.

I know in the Marine Corps (at least in the 90s) this sort of thing was specifically prohibited, it was very rare, and when it did happen, people were seriously disciplined for it. Other US military units, sadly, are very lax about this.

There are no specific "anti-socialization" rules.
There is the common "sexual harassment" code. Soldiers tend to hookup or sometimes even LTR. Unless the ranks are not equal (-> sexual harassment potential) and there is direct/indirect relations.
It is mostly kept quiet, but the thing is that Israel is a small country. So every other weekend people go home. So there are options outside the army.

I'm not familiar with disciplinary actions regarding that. I'm still on reserve duty and have not seen anything remotly close to it.
However - most people tend to either hookup or form LTR outside their unit.

I will add a little more to the OP's response, based upon my experiences.

In some instances (some POG units, or jobnikim, as we call them), it is forbidden. For example,at the start of my service, at the military Ulpan, us soldiers did not know even the names and hometowns of our instructors (females, also military) literally until the last day, which says a lot.

In combat units (I was in one until recently, so it is a first hand experience) it is permissible as long as your performances as a soldier do not suffer.

A few years ago in Belgrade, I met an old Jew. He lived in the basement apartment in the block where I was staying. Nice guy who ran his own small business in which he employed a couple of Serb and Roma refugees from Kosovo. He lived alone as his wife had died a few years previous. I would meet him every morning outside the main entrance as he picked up his post and chatted to the postman.

One day he invited me into his apartment to drink some home made Serbian plum brandy. I noticed all the old sepia pictures on the wall, showing his relatives and immediate family. An extended family photo from August 1938 showed proud and prosperous family. When I asked about them, he pointed and said murdered by fascists. Grandparents, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins. One of the victims was a 4 year old girl, his youngest sister. It then hit me the extent of the tragedy that had befallen this man. He joined Tito's Partizans to avenge his family's murder at the hands of the local Ustasa who had marched into his village and proceeded to round up and indiscriminately kill every Serb, Roma, Jew or anyone whom they thought was a perceived enemy they could lay their hands on. It was savage, primeval, neighbour v neighbour. Only the Balkans could have produced it, yet here I was enjoying the hospitality that could only befit the same place. It felt a bit odd.

A portrait of Josip Broz hung above a late 1980s Philips TV alongside that of his wife. He proudly showed me his medals. It was his world. Anyway the conversation drifted towards Israel as it did and his remarks were quite sober, "We Jews have created the biggest Jewish ghetto in the world. This is how it was for mr in the US Navy.

When I was on ships killing terrorists I fucked the daylights out of a massive amount of enlisted women. When we were off deployment it was a huge ordeal and filthy gossip mill.

Rules change on all types of stuff during combat.
