Emoticons while texting?

I can't imagine not using emoticons in situations where there are major or sometimes even just minor language barriers. The foreign girl may still miss the finer point of a witty remark, but at least an emoticon at the end will let her know the general intention and likely keep the chat going (yes, I also don't subscribe to the idea that texting should be used for logistical purposes only) without her responding with something along the lines of "???".

I match my use of emoticons - from none to occasionally what I myself consider way too many (feels like you can even bring out the sappy romantic stickers with some SEA girls, with no ill effect, and likely the opposite) to the girl's English skills, her own use and style of wit and humor, what I know is common in the location, and how I know or think she feels about me.

Not much different from matching my writing style and vocabulary to her English level.
One thing I'll never do though is trying to make myself look like a lazy, illiterate fool by deliberately using misspellings or text speak (smart phones finish words for you these days for fuck's sake), regardless of whether it may or may not be beneficial with American women.

it's very acceptable to use emoticons, and not doing so can often be perceived like you're angry.

This has happened to me more than once.

Getting misunderstod because you're not using a smiley face.
That gentlemen, are the times we are living in right now.

The occasional emoticon can diffuse a potentially confusing text that can be interpreted the wrong way. I have had this happen more than once. If I feel my text may be misinterpreted, I'll throw in a winky face with the text to make it clear that I am just being playful and teasing them.

However, overuse of emoticons is pretty gay.

I use them all the time. Omitting them is part of my game. Withdrawing fun and sweetness or what not...will make the hamster fly! The rules about not using smileys or emojiis to me sounds silly. It is how one uses them that really matters. Smileys or emojiis will not cock block you, only how you use them.

The fart emoticon works well as a dismissive reply to anything a girl says you are not enchanted by.

I think the main reason is that ":" is hard to find if you switch to the Cyrillic keyboard.

I like the WhatsApp frog face as the all purpose mind-fuck.

It has a elusive quality to it...does it mean happiness, anger, pleasure, amusement, irritation? It all depends.

We are living in the Age of Pictographs. The Age of Glyphs.

Emoticons are part of civilization. I wonder how many lizards were attracted to this Mayan stelae, when it was fully painted and decked out? Hmmm?

That would make a lot of sense. Didn't know that.

I want to revive this old thread a bit and make a comment on emoticons.

A recent overseas trip last week has convinced me that mastery of emoticons has a place in your game.

Why?

1. Language is getting more visual than in ages past. The nature of language is changing, ever so subtly, into more of a visual form.

It's almost like we're going back in time to the Age of Pictographs, where Mayan, Egyptian, and other cultures' hieroglyphs played a part in communication.

2. Emoticons can express feelings that cross cultural barriers in ways that are very efficient. An emoticon can do in one picture what a phrase cannot.

3. Emoticons can enhance a feeling of lightness and playfulness that is sometimes needed when crossing cultural chasms.

4. Emoticons can add a dash of mystery to what is intended in a text. She will think, is he happy? Sad? Angry?

For example, think of what a WhatsApp "frog face" emoticon can do. What does it mean?

Planting a WhatsApp "frog face" in her field of vision is going to generate...emotion. And if you can engage her emotions, you can move the interaction along to your advantage.

Like anything else, emoticons can be overused. They can be used ineptly, clumsily, and inappropriately. Just like crushed red pepper. But placed at the right place and time, they can really light up the communication.

It's an art, like the entire seductive process. Emoticons are like humor, sarcasm, or heckling: a little is great, but too much is self-defeating.

I also think that they have more use overseas than here in the USA. Here, I don't use them as much. Emoticons play better with foreign women than with Americans. For a lot of reasons.

I know my brothers Roosh and Tuthmosis may disagree with me on this, but I and a fellow ROK writer just came back from a trip where we took notes on this issue. We don't believe we suffered any negative effects from using emoticons. When this thread was started in 2011, emoticons might have been of questionable value.

I think the time has come to reconsider this issue, and submit the issue to the council here for a second look.

So, it might be something for us to consider.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I don't use emoticons that much. Actually, I've cut back on them a lot since discovering the red pill, just like I cut back on too much niceness or too much emotional investment.

Women LOVE emotion. Emotion is a great tool to use for your purposes when pursuing women.

The reason women hate "nice guys" is because they are too loose with their emotions. Using a lot of emoticons is similar. You can get away with using none, but it can be a simple way to connect/pique her emotions.

Electronic communication such as texts are horrible for transmitting tone and so it's easy for something to get misread (without cues such as tone of voice, facial expression, and body language).

I don't like to overdo jokey texts but for dry or sarcastic comments it's good to throw in an emoticon to make sure it's not misunderstood.

Don't ever use them. I was reading some pick up forums and they all agreed that emoticons make you look beta.
