2nd Tier France - It's worth a longer stay ?

nd Tier France - It's worth a longer stay ?
OK dude, what are your intentions in Nottingham? Are you going to study? Stay a short period, work or pass through?

For these reasons I can include places to live, so I will do that separately if needs be.

Introduction

Nottingham has a population of roughly 667,000 and is the seventh largest urban area in the UK. Nottingham can be cool if you know where to go and what to do.

It has nice areas and bad areas like any city and I would just advise to exercise normal caution as you would in any other major city. There are no-go areas that are to be avoided, I will mention those later.

Nottingham is one of the most popular venues in the UK for stag parties, with one of the most bars per square mile in Europe, it's easy to see why. But I will not paint it up and do not be under any illusions you will not be blown away as it is no New York or London, however if you make the most of it, it can be fun.

Many of my English compatriots will agree with me in that most of us try and escape the UK to find different women, as in all honesty English women aren't in the top tier of most desirable women in the world. They are similar in many respects to American chicks, celebrity worship, etc etc, not always the greatest looking. However their saving grace is they do have a good sense of humour, use this to your advantage. But don't be disheartened, with the plentiful supply of young, attractive female students in Nottingham however, you can definitely find something.

Nightlife
As mentioned Nottingham has pretty good night-life, and the city centre is very small and compact, subsequently you can easily walk from one venue to the next.

Bars
The best bars can be found in the Lace Market area of Nottingham, this is the more classier and upmarket area of Nottingam - part of it is also called Hockley.

Bar Eleven is fairly small and intimate but can find young professionals and some students like to go there also.

Tantra
I like this place, it's jumping on Fridays and Saturdays , also certain nights in the week (ask to find out which). Small and has bedding, lounging type areas...nice to take a girl, also can meet plenty of girls there.

Escucha
Located next to Tantra, nothing out of the ordinary, can have some good special event nights on, popular with fashionistas.

Pitcher and Piano
Converted church into a bar, very cool and worth going for a drink to see it. Nice place to take a girl, very big inside, so not as intimate in order to directly game..but can be done.

Dogma
Cool bar with 3 floors. More of a seat and chairs vibe, however can get busy at the weekends, has drum and bass on the bottom floor, plenty of girls go. Some special nights during the weekdays too. Round the corner from Escucha.

Market Bar
Not the best venue, standard bar/club with no windows, but I liked it because Jaegerbombs were cheap [Image: banana.gif] and the electro/house music is really good. Located opposite Bar Eleven. Good at weekends, but also has a student night in the week, find out which one it is.

Coco Lounge
Round the corner from Market Bar. Very cool, sleek Cocktail lounge, nice vibe. Good start place or equally mid week date night venue.

Ye Olde Jersualem
Not a place to find girls, but I thought I would include it for the nostalgia, tourist factor. Cut into the rock of the Castle of Nottingham. The oldest pub in the UK, dating back to the 1100s, has a museum upstairs, very cool and interesting. Take a girl there and woo her with your impressive local knowledge [Image: whip.gif]

Ride Bar
Small little bar next to the Corner House, brings in the women cos it's cheappppppp as chips, popular with students during the week.

BZR
Good for student nights during the week, very good and you can get triples for singles for drinks, i.e. a triple shot of jack daniels and coke for the price of one. Avoid it at the weekend, can get rough I think. Located next to the Robin Hood statue, next to the castle and near Ocean on Maid Marian Way.

Kookamaras
Cheesy shot bar, cool in the week as plenty of students. Located up an alleyway on Angel Row opposite McDonalds.

Saltwater
A must. Probably my favourite place. Located at the top of the corner house which is a restaurant and cinema complex. Nice views over Nottingham, fairly expensive, packed full of young professional women at the weekends. I've been on plenty of dates here!

Clubs

Plenty of clubs in Nottingham so there's always some variety.

Gatecrasher
Gatecrasher is one of Nottingham's biggest clubs. It's cool on the weekends, Saturday is a big night. More of an adult crowd in there, so you don't really get any chavs. Gatecrasher is renowned in the UK for playing Ministry of Sound/Dance type music and is a popular club.

Oceana
Cool club, has 4-5 different floors. Downstairs has 2 rooms - Cheesy 80s disco + Aspen Ski Lounge. Upstairs has R n B room, 'Sydney Bar room' and a Paris boudoir type room. It's cool, go on the student nights when it gets busy, if I'm not wrong Tuesdays are Nottingham Trent University night and Mondays are Nottingham University night. I would avoid it on the weekends as it has too many chavs.

Ocean
Cheesy, dirty student sweat fest, plain and simple. Big place. Friday nights are Nottingham Uni night and Wednesday is a huge night for Nottingham Trent. Guaranteed student poontang.

Nottingham Trent Student Union
Located on Shakespeare Street near the Police Station. Only go on a Saturday night, downside is it's open til 2am, plenty of cheese and student poon.

Coco Tang
Best night time venue in my opinion, small but has plenty of chicks, no chavs or dicks in here. Strict on the door, be sure to dress well. My favourite club venue.

Daytime
You can walk around the city centre, and you'l find fly girls. Market Square is good. Shakespeare Street is where Nottingham Trent Uni is based so always always loads of girls around there during the day and next to Boots library.

If you are feeling adventurous, get on a bus or take a taxi to one of the Nottingham University campuses, which are green and big, but you can walk around take it in and game some chicks on campus.

Victoria Centre is great for shopping and always girls in there for retail game.

These places are reachable on foot.

Nottingham is very good for and renowned for its shopping and you have plenty of designer shops, i.e. Paul Smith, Replay and Diesel. It has the Victoria centre and also the Broadmarsh..Broadmarsh not great but has some things.

Living
If you can afford it, try and get yourself a city centre flat. Plenty of new, young professional type, City centre apartment blocks. Talbot Street has some nice ones, with sauna and swimming pool if you can afford it. Not 100% on prices but could be in the £500-600 a month region for your own flat.

On a budget, you could look to share with some people in somewhere like the Glass house apartment complex, or you can get on:

Gumtree

And look for a room share, I'm sure you could find one, or look for postings on the Nottingham Trent or Nottingham University student websites.

Nottingham Trent Students Union

Avoid
Avoid areas: St Ann's, The Meadows and Radford.

These are not nice places and not a place you want to be.

Avoid some of the clubs you find on a Saturday unless I mention it, as sometimes you do get chavs and locals just looking for a fight (just be streetwise). Walk in the park compared to the favelas in Sao Paulo though I'm sure.

Things to do
There are tonnes of things to do in Nottingham, the Universities have all types of societies and clubs ranging from Muay Thai to Sailing.

Nottingham has the Nottingham Panthers Ice Hockey team and its own ice rink. Definitely worth a visit and really cool!

If you're Brazilian you're used to skillfull, flowing football. I will not promise you that in Nottingham. However Nottingham Forest at the City Ground could be worth a watch. They're not in the premier league but one of the best teams in The Championship - the league below.

Notts County are the oldest professional football club in the world, they're in the lower tier professional leagues, and it will be scrappy, long ball, but could be an experience.

Gym

Plenty of Gyms, for me either pick Hoofers which is located inside the Victoria centre and is 24/7 gym. Liberty's gym is awesome, if you like martial arts it has a ring and a grapple mat, loads of punch bags and great free weight selection prices are roughly £25-30 a month.

Bottom line, go out in the week you can literally go out every night, apart from sunday probably because it's so student orientated, so to make the most of it go during term time September-June, be aware of student exam periods (January, May and June).

Make sure you buy a fake student ID (preferably one that has an NUS certified on it - NUS = National Union of Students). Just type in fake ID UK in google.

Given the right planning and preparation I think you could have a ball in Nottingham. I won't make any promises, and foreigners often tell me they find it difficult to break into UK social circles as UK people seem distant, reserved and cold at first, persevere but be cool, persistence is key.

Yes the UK has its bad points and chavs and what not, but go the right places and you'll be fine, don't listen to all the shit people talk, half of them just reel off shit they saw on the BBC news and don't actually have a clue. Sure you could go to France or Poland as Roosh is now, but if it's the experience you want of the UK, then why the hell not?

Any more info happy to answer questions.

"OK dude, what are your intentions in Nottingham? Are you going to study? Stay a short period, work or pass through?

I'm looking for cities in Europe to stay 1 month studying the language plus swooping chicks.Possibility of part-time jobs for EU citizens will also be a plus.

Great Dk, I think you should start a new thread about Nottingham.

-Talking about France again, Tresor , Pacman or anyone who knows France. Is there a good website to know the best bars and clubs in Lyon and other French cities?

Mr.GM,
When are you planning to go to France? If it's during the summer my recommandation is to hit a coastal city like the one recommended to you before: Biarritz, Hossegor, or the south west coast. You can also try South East Cities like Nice or Montpellier. Avoid Toulon and Marseille.

If you travel after the summer, then try Bordeaux, Toulouse, Aix en Provence, Avignon, Lyon.

I don't know the north and cities like Lille, Metz, Strasbourg.

Regarding a website to find bars, maybe try this one:
http://www.cityvox.co.uk/welcome_france/home#

Hope it helps

Excellent guys, those are two awesome links !

Be careful though, as a lot of the bars listed on the website that Julio gave aren't appropriate venues for going out at night. I made a quick search for my town and small bars that close early were also in the list.

Yes Tresor is right the website I gave is more general and you can find Restaurants / Bars / others venues. You can also look for clubs.
But from what I saw for cities I know, the best rated places (4 stars and above) are good places to go out.

Excellent guys, I'm definitely heading to Lyon.

Any imputs on good, cheap Gyms in Lyon/France ?

One thing that I realized though, is that the offer of Hostels in Lyon is very slim.Looking in Hostel world .com and HI.com there is just one hostel (with mixed ratings) and some cheap hotels.

The Alliance Francaise School is offering accomodation in the university residence CROUS(any info on this?).Its cheap but the problem is that is only available during August and I'll probably be able to hit town only on late August/Early September.

After August the school provides only accomodation with Host Family (off course very bad for swooping girls). There are some expensive Studios to rent but there is a lot of bureaucracy involved to rent one of those (you need a local sponsor etc.)
Any info on how to find accomodation (Rooms/studios to rent etc.) for 1 month ?

I'm not sure if Sept. Is the best month to go given that girls do not return to school until October . I'm guessing this based on my experience in Slovenia, and what I've researched from EU in general.

If you can hold out for a late Sept/Oct trip, I'll join you and we'll head to Poland cara. If you must leave in Sept. Then I'll meetup with you early October and you can have some fine garotas (no piranhas please) lined up for me [Image: wink.gif]

I'll be in Europe at least till the end of October/early nov and I don't have a 100% travel route defined yet.
I second that mid september till late October is the prime time for cities like Lyon (due to the large number of student population). Before that the gold is in summer EU spots and after Oct its fucking cold.

That guys is an alpha male with very cocky attitude towards reporters, and is not the normal response you will get from FEMALES. The French do have a grudge on their shoulders with the English ever since Joan of Arc days, and view English as "beneath" them and "snooty".

However, French women tend to be more relaxed about this. By no means am I saying NOT to learn French, especially if you already speak a Latin language, but don't worry if your level is basic-intermediate.

French women love latin men, so we can get away with it. I fucked a French girl in Miami who spoke ZERO English, and I spoke ZERO French. We got by with hand signals and smiles, and were fucking within 4 hours.

Once you get a grasp of basic verb conjugation and sentence structure, just get this book:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0133611...VXW8K1SGRS

I used this in school last year, has all the grammar you'll ever need for socializing and business. However, it's written entirely in french so you'll need some french to understand the book [Image: dodgy.gif] or a nearby dictionary or online translator to understand what it's saying. It's a bit pricey but well worth the investment, especially considering the higher tier of women you'll be able to pull with more, err intellectual and sophisticated speaking. I'm talking about both hotter chicks and more intellectual (but still hot) chicks. Any other verbs, words, or idiomatic expressions you'll need to know in addition you can find easily online. If you plan on doing the exercises in the book make sure to get the answer key, which you can probably find a photocopied version of online for like $5 or as a pdf for free.

Hi guys,
Lyon sounds awesome but alas I will be in Marsailles for 10 days. I got some info from Vacancier Permanent in another thread and it sounds like hell on earth.
I appreciate it's got a bad wrap but I am there on business so would welcome something positive (if anything) in terms of a decent looking guy swooping the local women. Places to go, etc...

Tresor and Pacman?

PS ( I don't speak French)

Vacancier Permanent has said himself he's never been to Marseille...

Oh and just as a side note, dismissing Paris during the summer months is just plain insane in the membrane, but that's another thread....

Mr GM, I lived in Nottingham 2011-12 and yes there is plenty of nightlife. In terms of quality you will be very disappointed, it's full of fat women who are being chased by loads of men. In most bars the ratio is usually 4 men to every woman and the women are simply not worth chasing. If you can find any attractive students then these will be your best bet for night game as chances are they will be drunk. Students rather than local women will be easier to pull.

Costs wise Nottingham is one of cheapest cities in the UK and the nightlife is geared up to cheap drinks to attract the student crowd. Good luck.
