South America rent cost

Oi oi guys.
I haven't something like that here so let's do this.
Post your rent (furnished/unfurnished) and easiness to find a short lease(1/3 months).
In Porto Alegre:
Cidade Baixa (the safe bar/nightclub area) 40 m2 unfurnished 1100 reais, furnished 1500 reais.
Centro (not safe) unfurnished 1000 reais.
Here it is really hard to find some short lease.
I heard that Equator is super expensive.
Up to you now.

Since the thread idea is for all of South America it would be helpful if you include the current amount in USD/EUR.

Buenos Aires

Rent is the cheap thing here.
I rented 1 bedroom in Palermo for about $700 US (This is at the regular exchange rate of 9.50 to 1) for only 1 month.

The place is very old. Like the keyhole looks like its 40-50 years old. But the place is in excellent condition and everything works. A modern apartment would obviously be more.

Having a thread like this is tough. Unless you want people to go into a lot of detail. Its really hard to compare.

Palermo Chico, Palermo Viejo, or Alto Palermo?

I think you should put the rent in local currency, in case of crisis (example Brasil).
For me a cheap rent is around 250£/300$, with good logistic (but I'm reaaaallly cheap [Image: biggrin.gif]). Last post about Buenos Aires might be good for somebody else.
After being through a lot of agency/websites I know the rate of POA(unless you are lucky).
All the criteria are somewhat cheap, ok logistic, quite safe.
Us players don't really go to a city to spend days watching a 4K TV. That's why people like Roosh goes to hostels sometime, I got too many things of value, I can't do hostels...

@Merenguero ...or Soho? Hollywood? I cant keep track sometimes. I think according to the international law of Argentina. Im in Soho. But I am only about a Block from viejo.

@atlantic974 buy luggage with a lock. At a hostel, people usually go through your shit, usually not smart enough to break your lock or too much of a hassle to take your entire suitcase.

Most of Palermo "Soho" (God, i hate those new denominations) is basically what was called Palermo Viejo.

1 room for 700 U$S. I remember another RVFer getting a one room near Plaza Serrano for 450 U$S less than a year ago.

Anybody got some good tips on renting a temporada in Bogota?
Airbnb is a fraud...
Looking for somewhere safe like chapinero.
I paid 230£ a month in PAO : Lauraimmoveis at 3 min of the bars and clubs, no water and electricity bill. I overabused the oven ahah.
I think this thread should become more like a good rental tip. Let me know what you think.
Since PAO is supposed to be more expensive than Bogota I expect to pay the same or less [Image: sad.gif].

Google "Living 55 Bogota" I've been staying there for a few years and always recommended it to friends although since new management took over recently, things have apparently gone down hill. The jacked up the rates from 100.000 to 140.000 last January but I think that you can still get a studio there for about $700 USD.

Wow so classy [Image: biggrin.gif] (5 stars) and cheaper (650£/month) than my hotel in POA(3stars).
If i go lazy on finding an apart I'll take it thanks!
But for now I'm going to look for something cheaper.
But it's this kind of place/price that make us go crazy about Latin America [Image: wink.gif].

Paid $710 for one month in nice small one bedroom in Lapa in Rio. Keep in mind that the BRL has crashed against the USD so this same place probably ran around $1,800+ just a couple years ago. Airbnb is pretty legit in Brazil. I think they tried to recruit a lot of hosts for the World Cup and as a result there is excess supply. I've gotten some nice places in Rio and Salvador.
