Get to know cool/interesting people while travelling

I'm in Budapest since a couple of weeks now to pursue new business oportunities. Normally I post in here and in one other PUA community that I am in city x from y to z and find always a couple of cool people there. I'm in a relationship, so that picking up girls is not any more my (main) focus. Most of the people I've met in my previous travels were super cool and gave me some interesting thoughts on game, life, politics, business, ... But for some reasons (maybe because of the winter in Hungary?) I met only one guy here in Budapest so far.

I usually also try MeetUp.com, but this is also haven't lead to anything this time. To the guys who are usually travel alone: How do you get in contact with other, like-minded man? I'm usuall working during the day, but would really like to have some interresting talks at the end of the day every now and then. Can't be that hard.

One option would be one of the co-working places here, but (compared to Hungarian standards) I think they charge a ridiciouls high daily fee.. Any experience with that? Should I give it a shot?

I've made a lot of interesting connections by going out alone to a nice bar and asking for a cigarette. It is probably the most acceptable and non-threatening way to start a conversation since there is a guaranteed end to the interaction.

When you start talking you can guage his reaction to you being out alone. If he thinks its cool or normal he may be a good person to know. I've found that a man's reaction to the thought of going out alone is a decent guage of his mindset.

If you don't drink then the gym can also be a nice place especially if it is a nice gym in the right part of town. Go at a time when you would expect the type of people you're trying to meet would be there, like early morning. You can ask someone how many sets they have left in English or broken hungarian amd if they are interested in talking they might ask what you're doing in Budapest.

I actually have been living in Budapest for the past year, this is a huge drinking city as you know so just go out to a pub have a drink ask for s cigarettes and you'll meet people. To be honest that's how I've most of the people I know here. Also the meetup section here is good, try internationals events and there is another but I cannot remember the name now...

Couchsurfing meet-ups. Stay in smaller shared rooms (4-6) at hostels, for a few nights even. Local Toastmasters.

Thanks for this quote. I've always thought this way but could not vocalize it so succinctly.
