Dash does El Salvador & Honduras (Trip Report)

I am happy to announce I just booked the flight to CA. This was a hella impulsive spur of the moment trip induced by Aliblahba! This trip is gonna be on a slight tight budget as I havent worked in almost 2 months! lol Thanks alot Aliblahba! Bastard! [Image: wink.gif]

I will use this thread as my trip report sharing ALL the details in real time. Well I wont have my laptop with me as I will be selling it for some extra cash for this trip! Yea..... lol Hopefully I will be able to find an internet cafe or something to keep you guys updated.

Lets get down to the details / itinerary [Image: banana.gif]

August 4th - 14th

I have the most retarded arrival and departure times imaginable. Arrive in San Salvador at fuking 12:20am on Thursday! Then I will be having to leave Tegucigalpa earlier than planned on sat August 13th to catch my departing flight at 1:10am on Sunday back in San Salvador.

(Thu) August 4th - Santa Ana / Mayan ruin of Tazumal
(Fri) August 5th - San Salvador
(Sat) August 6th - San Salvador
(Sun) August 7th - Copa Ruins, Honduras
(Mon) August 8th - Costa del Sol Playas, El Savador
(Tue) August 9th - Costa del Sol Playas, El Savador
(Wed) August 10th - San Salvador
(Thu) August 11th - Tegucigalpa
(Fri) August 12th - Tegucigalpa
(Sat) August 13th - San Salvador (leave late that night)

Not sure how I feel about this itinerary. Gonna feel like alot of traveling but not sure how else I would schedule it to see / do those things. Also worried about my budget, def gonna have to watch my spending with only about 600 dollars to last me 9 days.

Feel free to chime in and give suggestions or intel!

Damn. I seriously am floored by guys traveling on tight budgets. More power to you if you have the balls and smarts to pull it off, but I can't go anywhere I don't have an over-abundance of $$$$ to hold me down.

Selling your laptop dash? Jeesh!

Good luck and be safe. If you decide on some exclusive time with a local honey, check out the beaches of Tela on Honduras.

Btw, Honduras is named so because it has the deepest oceans of the Hemisphere.

The name in Spanish translates to "Deep places" loosely.

This is alittle under my standard 500-600 a week travel budget I normally travel with. Certainly wont be able to gamble money at a casino, drop alot coin at a strip club or for a chick, wont be able to eat at restaurants or stay at a nice hotel. I dont really need all this mind you as I can get along fairly easily on cheap accommodations and street food.

Mixx man we all dont have posh jobs in South Beach! lol I havent worked in 2 months, and before that I worked at a crappy ass Ruby Tue only bc I liked the manager and could get off work when ever I please. Ive been living like a college student for the past 2 yrs since i graduated, we gotta get by on the low if you know what im saying!

Im buying a new 13' macbookpro when I get to Korea soo parting with my crappy laptop will actually be a good thing.

Once I get back from this trip I will be leaving for Korea within 2 weeks hopefully. So im gonna sell my smart phone also. Phone + computer should bring me 400. Looks like ill have a budget of 700 for this trip (10 nights) soo not that bad......

Gonna look into actually coughsurfing some this time to offset expenses and then shell out money for a hotel on the weekend to bring a grl back from the club.

yeah i thought the same when i read that, selling your laptop to go overseas, damn.

Why dont you get a job and work till you are about to go on holiday? Even if you work for a month, you always have more money to spend when you abroad. I wouldnt sell my laptop to go abroad.

@ Pitt

I am leaving to teach in Korea in August for a year so going through the hassle of applying for jobs then when I find one train only to be quitting the job in less than a month isnt to practical imo.

This is my only window of opportunity to get some latin ass before I will have to go without for a WHOLE FUKING year. Thats why I went ahead and made a crazy impulse decision to buy the plane tickets last night on my credit card, then save up my tiny unemployment checks for a month and bounce to CA and make the most of it.

Dash you will be bankrupt in a few years. Also, you will never have enough money to buy a house in Miami if you keep collecting unemployment checks and teaching english abroad.

I scratched that idea after learning about the crazy HOA fees and property taxes in Miami. On top of that its not a good market for real estate investing. Plus I think im gonna ride out the rest of my 20's in South America and Asia. Your only young once. In 3 years ill hopefully have about 25K to get me started in the Real Estate game if I so choose to at age 28.

Dash with all due respect, you planning on saving 25k by the time you are 28 to get into real estate? God have mercy, you may want to care more about your financial side and i still dont understand why you would waste a year teaching english in Korea.

Well you may know what you doing, good luck anyway.

@Pitt

Unlike many ppl my perceived success or failure in the future is not dependent on how big my house is, how many nice cars I have, a beachside vacation house ect. So I dont have the financial stress that burdens alot of younger guys "trying to climb the corporate ladder" per say. In the past 3 years I have already done more, and been more places than all my friends. Im doing what I want, when I want right now, and I wouldnt have it any other way. I wanna live and travel around Asia (doing that this yr). I want to live in South America for a year (doing that after Asia). You just cant have your cake and eat it to, most ppl have to make a choice as to which is more important to them (being happy doing what you want or building a career & climbing the corporate ladder ect) I want to make a living doing Real Estate Investing (gonna give that a try within the next 4 years). I have always done exactly what I wanted to do in my relatively young life (college, sports, travel, women, jobs) so ive been blessed in that regard. At the end of the day, as long as I got my health and family/friends im all good! [Image: smile.gif]

Also you say you dont know why im wasting my time teaching in Korea... well how else would you suppose I live/work in Asia and also be able to save 15k that year? I am all ears

Dash, have you thought about having YMG career hacking you into China? The potential to make money is better and IMO the girls are hotter than S. Korea. I've been there and the only thing I want from that place is a Galaxy Tab 10.1.

As for your trip check out La Libertad. It's only 30 minutes from San Sal. A friend said girls like to go down there and chase the Aussie surfers.

Jeez, Dash, slow down and take it easy on these trips.

Didn't we go over this on your Colombia trip? (Actually, didn't you end up making that trip way less "jumpy"?)

You don't need to see all of Central America on a weekend!

Good luck!

And go for it, you only live once. You are still young to make tons of CASH later on.

Aliblahba,

Im not interested in living in China for anything other than a year or two. ie I dont have any desires to build a CAREER in China which is what YMG thing is all about. Asia is not my cup of tea but I still need to travel there and check it out. Korea offers the best option for seeing Asia and making some money in the process for a short time imo.

Dash,
You have the right mindset, that is do what you're happy with. And you also got it right that the most important thing is not money but first and foremost, your health, then family. The rest is really secondary. Literally.
Now, I'd like to give you a serious warning about what you said about Asia when you said that you're interest in Asia is limited. Bro, I was exactly like that, all about Latinas and specially Brasileiras, but after I've been to Asia, I'm now totally Asianophile. LOL Yellow Fever to the max. Asia is a totally addictive region. Korea can be fun, but the real fun in Asia is in Thailand. The Phils can be fun and really cheap. I keep on hearing Bali is dope too and will check it as soon as I get back to Asia. Oh and if you want to be blown away like never before, go to Tokyo. Unfreaking real! So all in all, don't say you were not warned man.

Have a blast man.

VP,

Your right, Thailand, Japan, and the Philippines is where it is at! Lots of fun and women to be had in those locations. I wouldnt say my interest in Asia is limited, as im very curious and interested in exploring and experiencing all of what Asia has to offer. It is just that Im addicted / passionate about Latin America. I love the music, the dancing, and the women for me are the best looking hands down! (dont get me wrong, there is some hot Asians and I have a fetish for pretty much EVERY non American female) [Image: smile.gif]

btw are you in Thailand now? Ill be there in December most likely when I take my winter vacation!

Again Dash,
I was exactly like you said: all about Latin culture, the music, the vibe, the fun and the women. That is until I went to Asia, then everything changed. Do not make the mistake of judging Asians based on what you see around you in the US. The Asians in Asia are a different breed than the ones in North America, specially the women. The Asian women in Asia blow out of the water their Asian sisters in North America. Let me just say that you'll be extremely pleasantly surprised and once you have been with a hot, sexy, feminine Asian woman, then you'll be hooked for life. I can garantee you that. Just wait till you get there, you'll be in for a royal treat my friend. [Image: banana.gif]
I'm not in Thailand now and I can't wait to return. Let me know when you make it there in December and I'll show you the good stuff. [Image: biggrin.gif]

VP -

I love how "on message" you are.

I am 100% sold on this trip.

Ideally, which month is best for Thai or Phils? Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb or March?

@VP- I lived in Okinawa for a year and saw close to a dozen countries. It was awesome but there wasn't anywhere there I would've wanted to live permanent. Japan is amazing for me due to the culture. And Bali? WOW. Mind you I haven't been there since the late 90's but it was by far the best party spot I hit. Man you gotta go there. Personally I'm far more intrigued by Latin culture....and the women. Have you ever seen those big ole booties? [Image: banana.gif]

G,
Thailand and the Phils are good year round, but to make the most of it, specially weather wise, it's between November to end of February as it's the dry and cooler season aka high season. One advice: when you get to BKK, you can roll as a true G and will be having a ball. However, in the Phils, I'd suggest to dress down and not show too much wealth as it's a 4th world country with an abysimal social disparity. In BKK, no worries at all, just avoid the tuk tuks like the plague and you'll be ok.
For Tokyo, you already know the drill, greatest, bestest, most amazing city on the freaking Universe. Stay at the Hilton in Shinjuku as it's a great area to base yourself for all the good stuff: smoking hot women all around, world class shopping and restaurants.

AliB,
I hear you about Latin culture and women. they're unique and I kind of miss them now. I think I badly need to return there again before returning to Asia. LOL
I heard about Okinawa and it seems a great place for natural places to visit (great beaches, lush tropical forrests) but I also hear/read/seen that it's a place with the most elderly people in Japan. Nothing wrong with old folks but also like to be around younger people to party and of course, hot tail. Did you notice a lack of youngers there? Oh and have you tried goya? How is it? I saw a documentary where that fruit/vegetable (whatever it is) is the secret for keeping those 90 and 100 year olds in great shape.

I still cant believe not a single chick has responded to my message on facebook. That is just unfuking real. Not one in El Salvador or Honduras. They must be super paranoid about strangers on the internet or something! Never experienced anything like this before. Even on couchsurfing only 2 chicks have responded. I really need their feedback for my nightlife sheet/guide! ughhhh

Dash,

Have you considered borrowing some money from family/friends?

It would be nice to have a bigger bank roll in CA. You can always pay them back when you get home.

It sucks to be on vacation with limited funds.

Giovonny,

I dont like to bum money off my friends to go on "vacations". Generally speaking i will only ask a buddy for money if I really need it for something important.

I actually owe my mom 500 right now from my last trip so I wont be hitting her up again. Plus she is against my lifestyle of leisure travel and wants me to get serious about life and get a "real" job.

CA is pretty cheap from my understanding. I got by pretty good on my 500 week budget in Cartagena. El Salvador & Taguicigalpa is alot more cheaper than Cartagena from what I gather soo $700 bucks should be plenty for my 9 days. Like I said I dont mind eating and lodging on the cheap. I just need money for going out at night and seeing the ruins. Ill have my credit cards if I need em.

@VP- Oki is a beautiful place, especially around Nago in the north. I spent many nights camped out on the beach. Don't remember trying goya, but did take more than a few shots of habu sake. The U.S. military presence ruined it as a place to swoop, and the girls weren't near as hot as the mainlanders. It's like their West Virginia. I'd stick to the mainland when you go back.

@Dash-I changed my Badoo profile to there the night before I left. Didn't get much for response.

Have you tried dating sites and perhaps badoo (even though it's infested by prostitutes)? Facebook would not be my first choice for contacting local girls as I can see how they might be creeped out by being contacted there out of the blue...

Wish you good luck with your trip! I don't know how expensive Honduras is, but the budget talk had me laughing - I just came back from a trip in Czech Republic/Poland that lasted 20 days on a total budget of 800$. I could have certainly used this kind of tight budget [Image: tongue.gif]
