Dash does El Salvador & Honduras (Trip Report)

Im looking through Badoo right now, not alot but I did send out about 5 messages for San Salvador.

Gonna go back and send out ALOT more messages on facebook. Some chicks will have to take the bait! Fuck accepting failure and defeat, thats not in Dash's vocabulary.

Pipe-lining has become second nature now without local contacts/friends all ready in place!

just avoid the tuk tuks like the plague and you'll be ok.

The only reason I would advise avoiding them is because they are over-priced tourist traps. Taxis are much cheaper. Generally tuk tuks aren't dodgy and as long as you're not stupid enough to fall for the "free tuk tuk ride" or "only 10baht because its buddha day" or similar shit you'll be fine. You just got to be firm with them.

Ain't that the truth.

Good luck on your trip, are you limited in time restraints or just cash? I think if you can find a way to stretch your 9 day vacay into at least 3 weeks you'll have a much better experience.

Azulsombra,

Time is a problem bc I will be leaving for Korea at the end of August so i will need a week to get back state side and arrange to completely move.

This is solely a pussy hunting, flag capturing trip! Im throwing in some sightseeing though (ruins) and potentially a couple days to relax on a beach.

It sure is, I did the exact same itinerary about 7 years ago and it took about three weeks and it felt rushed. My info is awfully dated so I am apprehensive in dropping some science. However, travel distances stay the same. Although, Tikal is the shit it is just too out of your way and time consuming to get there in that short amount of time. Back then there was only one nightly bus that leaves from Guatemala City to Flores and it took about 10 hours. Therefore, There's no way in hell unless you have a gulf stream jet waiting for you that you going to make it from Flores to Copan in less than 2 days(Flores to Guatemala 10 hours, Guatemala to Copan 6 hours). Pick one Honduras or Guatemala.

I don't remember Tegucigalpa being that great, it was cold, dirty and felt unsafe. With regards to San Salvador, I also heard about the chicas being the shit and planned to stay there for a week but left after only 2 days. Not so much over racial shit(I don't remember any drama actually) but all the armed guards and electric fences everywhere made me very nervous. Also, No one was walking around the streets, I mean NO ONE. This couple with the fact that MS-13 was flexing their muscles big time in the region (Salavador and Honduras) at that time I decided to charge Salvador to the Game and go on to Guatemala.

With regards to the girls, imo although Central America region has cute girls you need to recalibrate your expectations because at least to me they aren't no where near as cute in both the body and face department as Colombians, Brazilians, Argentinians and even Dominicans.

Playawitpasport,

Ur right as much as I hate to I think Im gonna scratch Tegucigalpa off the list. Still kinda of want to do Copan, at least I can say ive been to Honduras lol.

(Thu) August 4th - San Salvador
(Fri) August 5th - San Salvador
(Sat) August 6th - San Salvador
(Sun) August 7th - Copan Mayan Ruins
(Mon) August 8th - Flores / Tikal Ruins
(Tue) August 9th - Flores / Tikal Ruins
(Wed) August 10th - Guatemala City
(Thu) August 11th - Guatemala City
(Fri) August 12th - Guatemala City
(Sat) August 13th - San Salvador

Only thing im iffy about whether to have 3 days in both San Salvador and Guatemala City or have 4 days in San Salvador and 2 in Guatemala City.

*About the girls, I dont have any grand expectations. I know they dont look near as good as the chicas in Colombia and Brazil. So its a good thing im not that picky. Looking to smash a 7-8, but best believe ill take 6 and even a 5 if it came down to ass or no ass. Bag n Tag em as we say! haha

This is a much realistic itinerary. However, The only problem I see is how you going to make it from San Salvador to Copan? As far as I am aware there's no direct bus between the two. You going to have to go thru Tegucigalpa that's going to add at least a day of traveling maybe more if the bus schedules don't perfectly lined up. Trust me on this, Copan is o.k. but it isn't worth wasting 2 or more out of your 9 days getting there. Also, it takes more than a day to make it from Copan to Flores.

If I were you I would split my time between San Salvador and Guatemala City(Antigua as well) specially on such a tight budget. If budget permits I would take a side trip to Panajachel(Guatemala). Sure, panajachel is tourist trap but those that spot is bursting at the seams with English speaking Gringo lovers and easy European and American Spanish language students that you can use as back up if you strike out with the locals.

With going to Tikal I suppose I could scratch Copan as well since Tikal is a vastly superior ruin site no?

Fuck bus money is gonna be a bitch. I wonder how much im looking at w/o Honduras.

Tikal is my second favorite ruin after Machu Pichu. Copan isn't even on the same league as Tikal. Unless your Spanish is virgin tight and even then, I recommend only taking luxury or tourist buses(Tica Bus, etc) You don't want to be stopped at a check point in one of those local buses and the Bandidos take your laptop money. But this itinerary is perfect. Good luck!!

Dash, are you sure about Guatemala City being a good destination? I've never been, so I don't know for sure, but I've heard that it's dangerous and not as good as Antigua as far as Guatemala is concerned. Just wondering why you are sold on Guatemala City instead of Antigua?

Dash does El Salvador & Honduras (Trip Report)

Chaz,

Antigua is a popular tourist destination / trap. It Will be filled with gringos. I look for places thats the opposite. Places ppl try to avoid are the places I like to go to and spend the most time. An example is when I went to Costa Rica and spent alot of time in San Jose. Other travelers and ppl thought I was crazy for wanting to spend any extended time there. I hate seeing other gringos and tourists when I travel, I try to look for the local spots off the beaten path, "gems" as I like to call it.

How I define a good location and most ppl vary ALOT. I like places like Barranquilla, San Jose, San Salvador places with a bad rep and with little to no tourist value. Thats where I have the most fun partying and meeting local women!

As far as danger goes Guate City is no different from any other C/S American capital. Gotta use common sense and know where and not to go.

I will say this though, I am starting to get the feeling that the ladies in Gaute City are fairly conservative! This might cause me some unwanted difficulties. I just had one chick message me back on facebook saying she doesnt dance and go to clubs because it is bad and against her religion, WTF?!?!? lol I have yet to have ANY chick message me back on Facebook or CouchSurfing providing me intel on the nightlife on Guate City. And I have sent out a fuck load of messages. I guess I will continue to do so until I get a bite. Even in San Salvador I only have 2 girls from facebook im communicating with.

I still got a month to try and get more pipelining done before I arrive. Bout to get a month membership on LatinCupid so that will help some. If I can get in solid contact with 2 grls from San Salvador and Guate City from that it will be worth it. I will still be chatting up females at the malls and ish gathering more intel once I touch down.

My only concern is finding def cheap/safe hotels in each city that will allow me to bring back girls at night. Info is very limited on these cities, which is a good thing as they are untaped resources for young white stylish guys looking to swoop the local talent!

I found the talent on Badoo in San Salvador to be low. The handful of chicas that messaged me while there weren't too hot. The talent pool is better on the ground.

I found a reasonable hotel that is behind the Intercontinental:

http://www.hotelmiramonte.com.sv/index.html

$40 per night isn't too bad and the location is decent. I stayed in the Holiday Inn which was pricey, but was walking distance from the main mall.

AliB,

The females on Badoo and LatinCupid for San Salvador are fuking terrible. The talent will def be better on the ground. I saw a few cute girls on LatinCupid in Guate City though.

$40 a night is to pricey for my budget. I actually found a good hotel centrally located for $26 a night!

Im struggling with the decision to bring girls to the clubs/bars that I meet from daygame/online or go solo to the bars and clubs. Fuk it makes my head hurt.

I know what ill do, I WILL NOT bring a chick out with me at night unless I have madeout with her and know for a fact she is 110% DTF. Even still I like to go out on my own and make shit happen! We will see............

Dude I've been to Guatemala, only passing through Guate City, but everyone I talked to said to avoid the place like the plague. I've only heard really bad shit about it, it's supposed to be a nightmare, I wouldn't go there just because there are no tourists around. Antigua might be touristy, but it's beautiful and there are some amazing volcanoes to hike in the surrounding area. Go to Guate City, you might be exotic and pull some local talent, or you might get beat up and robbed by MS-13.

Don't be a chicken shit. They can only kill you once. LOL.[Image: angel.gif] The only place I walked around at night was across the street from the Holiday Inn. There's a McDonald's, Kreefs, Starbucks, Pollo Campero, and a strip of small stores. It was safe and had a decent supply of girls coming throughout the day. There was a lot of shit going on at the hotel too, including live music. Call the front desk when you arrive and see what the events are.

I was going over a map of san salvador and saw the holiday inn. it appears to be pretty close to the main square.

I am gonna get a hotel close to the nightlife, then I could use the buses to get the main square during the day and use the taxi for a quick ride at night.

Alib, you see any other gringos there during ur stay?

Met 1 gringo in the club the first night. Didn't trust the guy. He was living in Costa Rica. The biggest advice from my friends that lived S. of the border is: Do not trust other gringos down there. Talked to 1 "commando" in the airport on the way out. That was it. Solamente.

It was unnerving walking through the malls getting stared at. And girls would stop in the upper levels and watch me drink coffee. Now I know what it's like being a rock star......and I didn't like it. [Image: blush.gif]
