I have been doing standup for many years (much less now - dream crushed by career, wife, children).

I was in LA doing the circuit and I had a few black jokes in my bag - funny jokes, smart and clever (certainly not insulting). I had been telling them for at least a year and they almost always got a great response.

After my set, a black dude came up to me and said "you can't tell those jokes man, that's racist." He was serious.

I said "say what? If you can't tell the difference between a racist comment and a joke, you are in the WRONG place". And I walked away.

That black dude was a comic, named Paul Mooney (I had no idea who he was at the time).

I wonder if your comment gave him the balls to do Dave Chappelle's "Ask a black dude" segment.

Jokes about race dont bother me. I have a very diverse group of friends and all we do is make fun of each other in an way we can.

Of course what my sister would tell me is that I don't know what its like to be discriminated against because of my race cause I was born a straight white man... then explain to me why its not appropriate to make any types of jokes about people from different races.

Maybe shes right..... but I will never apologize for being white

Race jokes are funny if done right however what i've noticed is often times blacks and jews are like the sacred cows when it comes to race jokes. The usual scenario is some black or jewish comedian ragging on other races but then putting on a serious face when talking about "my peoples" I just think that is hypocritical and weak as fuck.

They can make fun of themselves but if you aren't black/jewish and say anything even slightly derogatory about blacks or jews then most get all pissy about it and run to twitter and the mainstream media. People on this forum tend to be more enlightened about this type of hypocritical liberal stuff but it's definitely pervasive.

Marlon Brando of all people pointed this out about Jewish entertainers back in the day and he got lit up for it in the press.

I find race jokes hilarious, especially when done correctly. Some of my best friends aren't black and make the funniest black jokes that even when my black friends are around can't help but laugh. The difference is that we know internally known of this shit applies to us. The problem is that women especially black and white SJWs have a problem with this and beta males follow suit. (Not saying all guys who have a problem with race jokes are beta, but you get the point).

Example: A few years back one of my white classmates made a soft black joke in front of these black chicks. They went all crazy after he left calling him racist and I just thought in my head Hmm: "My white friend, dated black chicks, text me all the time about seeing some hot black/latin chick at starbucks, loaned me thousands of dollars, helped me out plenty of times." I looked at the girls and literally said Shut the hell up. People take themselves too fucking serious and we have this twisted culture we do known because of this.

If done correctly racial humor is great...

Not really racial, I just remembered this scene from American Werewolf in London

Hilarious, if you're offended because you're of that race you need to lighten up and stop being so sensitive.

White people get the piss taken all the fucking time. Mexicans also. I'm half English, half Mexican and have always dealt with lame jokes about tortillas, sombreros, or border patrol from English people trying to copy American humour. They normally fuck it up.

Yet if you say the dreaded ..... 'n-word'

the lynch mob will be on their way with their pitchforks.

Stop being so sensitive people. Sticks and and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me, when did they stop teaching kids that? I can't even say that word here.

You can't even call someone a 'black .....' if you call someone anything and put black in front, thats some sort of crime and liable to get you badly beaten, arrested or worse.

But what about if you call someone a 'white ....' they would probably turn around and laugh at you and say yeah I'm white and?

So you can't even point out someone being black as that's racist, yet white people are constantly called white and don't care at all.

I don't give a fuck about some history of slavery, as there was just as many white slaves who were treated even worse.

Also, if you're offended on behalf of another race, you're a brainwashed idiot.

I was once with a white friend on his balcony. We were looking out for paticular car. I saw a car but didn't notice there was anyone in there until I saw his pearly white teeth. It was night time, the car wasn't moving and the guy was black, so I pointed this slightly humorous observation to my friend. It wasn't even a joke, just something that happened.

He looked at me like he wanted to kill me and accused me of being racist. I can't be bothered with people like this anymore.

Doubt it, Paul Mooney was Richard Pryor's road dawg/writing partner way back in the day

Meaning he was one of the father's of that type comedy

One of Chappelle's inspirations ironically enough

I used to work with a white South African and I trolled him by asking him where I can find a black South African because I’ve never met any. All the South Africans I’ve ever come across are white or Indian.

I went to the comedy event with a WASP, a Jew and Filipina..we were telling each racist jokes in the car on the way back. Somebody joked that Karen David must be the cheapest person in the world, because she’s Indian, Chinese and Jewish:

By the way fuck George Lopez – I challenge him to tell jokes that do not mention white people or Mexicans.

I went to the Oddball Comedy festival yesterday and the host Big Jay Oakersen made a lot of black dick jokes. He was pretty terrible overall. He even said to the crowd, "You were supposed to laugh at that" on a few occasions.

Donnell Rawlings said a few racist things about Africans, Indians and Asians. Some of the stuff he said about Indians is similar to the clip of him here:

I like non-PC jokes if they have some basis in reality, but black dick and Indian accent jokes got old a long time ago in my opinion.

How do you guys feel about non-PC jokes? I think there’s a massive double standard in comedy, black comedians can talk shit all day about other races, but a white comedian is not allowed to say that.

Race jokes can be deadly funny with good placement and timing. But then you have comedians like ^Lampanelli and Russell Peters whose repertoires consist solely of racial humor and it just gets old real quick.

As NO_LIMIT_CRACKA said, her whole act is about banging black guys. This is scandalous in some circles in the US. In the UK nobody would give a fuck.

I don't see the big deal.

All of my friends are white and we make racist jokes all the time. None of us seem to mind.....

But seriously, who gives a fuck? Pretty soon there will be no race jokes, no income/class jokes, no rape jokes, no jokes about fat people, the only jokes we will have are ones about straight white masculine men, because we are free game apparently. If western society had more straight masculine men we wouldn't even be talking about this dumb shit.

As a matter of fact, all these guys are supremacists. George Lopez being a Mexican nationalist and Paul Mooney/Kat Williams being Black supremacists.

Minority comedians (even the militant ones) need to be careful of coming across minstrel though, the majority cross that line without realizing.

I think the biggest factor is intent. If something is intended to be funny, and is in fact funny, then that should be the end of it.

A couple other members have said this in one way or another, but this is it.

Comedy cannot be choked out by politically correct proof readers in rehearsal or in front of the mirror... A bold, confident comic that says his well planned joke with conviction will either get zero laughs or bring down the house. To me, this is what distinguishes the great comedians versus those that are simply trying to sell tickets. And it's ok to fail the first time you try and present a different way. Just have to punch the right combination for the audience. A lot of times, especially in the recorded specials, the audience really does anticipate the style of humor they are going to get and can appreciate the comic effort and that it is simply a joke.

As an example of what I mean... I am white, and I would have killed to go see Bernie Mac live. He doesn't hate white people, retards, or black women, he is just telling side splitting stories, and damn good at it.

There's a fine line between poking fun and all out malice.

That said, I'm pro humor and nothing should be off limits, but as a society we've gotten so fucking butthurt about everything the last ten years that we have greatly regressed the soft limits of free speech.

I'm preaching to the choir here, but goddamn, even in cinema, Blazing Saddles would not and could not have been made today.

I love humour, being born in the UK i think they have the best humour.

I have been called everything under the sun. The problem is, the people that love to dish it out usually cannot take it when it is dished to them.

In the Caribbean, they will insult you on any "flaws" you may have. I have never seen this in any other community.

I like that kind of humor occasionally - making fun of each other races, countries, religions etc.

Whites generally are the butt-jokes of every race, which in essence is racist as well since they are limited in their repertoire. Good comedy should have no limits really, but unfortunately they want to end it all and SJWs are out there to ban anything that could be offensive to someone. Sarah Silverman supported even that stupid right of "I have a right to be not offended." No Sarah - that way you literally eliminate almost all comedy, because then you find always some idiot who is offended by something.

Embrace the irony boys - as long as it's more or less done in good nature. Usually it was the gruesome terrible regimes which had no comedy because you could not make fun of anything that was of concern to the people - Nazi system, aristocracy in aristocratic system, Communists, Saudi style Islamic system etc. Now the SJWs want to usher in a new totalitarian anti-fun system where anything could be racist and anything can be offensive.

As a matter of fact we need more offensive stuff - against women, Red Pill - only then do we reach true equality. Think about it: When Whites in the future can use publicly the N-word and not one black person reacts to that, only then has the word become literally powerless, since it's so removed from the reality that they see and experience every day. It's like calling a German a former slave of the Roman empire (half of them were enslaved). It's utterly and completely irrelevant and over time I hope that all racial slurs will become so.
