I've been doing this to help with my injuries from during boxing and judo,
has anyone else seeing any significant benefits from doing sauna treatment of 20 minutes at 165 Degrees F.
Also research behind the use of sauna:

Haven't heard about HGH being kickstarted by sauna'a but some of the crazy Scandinavians and Russians really do sit in the sauna, and then immediately after run outside naked into the snow. Or even jump into the water through a whole in the ice. Supposed to increase Testosterone.

I've been using saunas for a few weeks after seeing Tim Ferriss tout them (i.e., 20 mins @ 165, like you).
They've definitely improved my recovery from lifting, although that might be subjective.

I always sit in the steam room for 10-20 minutes after my workout before I shower. I can't quantify the benefits but it feels great and makes me feel better both physically and mentally. Sometimes I'll take an ice cold shower after to simulate an ice bath.

Working in logging camps some of the time they had no showers or bath tubs, just a lake and a sauna. After work I'd have a sauna and a swim in the cold lake, sleep like a baby and wake up ready to work the next day with no muscle soreness. It was awesome.
Also, for getting clean you'd use the hot steam to open your pores and then scrub the dead skin and grime off, then use the cold lake water to close them up again

sauna does help me in this case, I think mainly because it helps get rid of different toxins.
As for minor injuries, I prefer to swim in a relaxed way in the swimming pool and also jakuzzi

While I was in Ukraine, an acquaintance reported a friend had died after going in cold water after a sauna. I like saunas and feel god after them, but maybe shocking the hell out of your system with an extreme temperature change unless it has proven benefits doesn't offer a god risk reward ratio.

I know people who were super serious about sauna (one-four times a month). They died early. ~65. Suffering stuff lie Alzheimer's and cancer. And I think it's related. There were some other objective factors, but it's not to say that it had a lot to do with it.

It's been a couple years since I've stepped foot in a sauna, but I started recently after reading this thread, and let me tell you:
After a hard workout and huge pump, feeling tight and so forth, the sauna completely transformed me, body and brain.
I shed all my clothes but my underwear, no music, just the crackling of the coals in the wood chamber, 170 degrees of dry heat.
After 3 minutes, I began pouring sweat, my breathing focused, my mind cleared, I stretched and felt the toxins releasing, releasing, releasing, dumping out.
After fifteen minutes, I walked out totally calmer and present, practically in a meditative state.
My skin felt softer, healthier and more supple and springy after drying off.
Walked out into the brisk outside air, got home and took a freezing shower after my body temp stabilized, felt amazing.
Even while taking vitamins, zma, creatine, fish oil, piracetam, et cetera, hitting that sauna absolutely cut through everything, all the noise, and I felt really great.
Huge ROI for an easy addition to your workout routine.

Started going to a big spa/sauna place near me the last couple weeks. I do the super intense sauna to cold shower back and forth a dozen times, and also bring a magazine in Chinese to relax and study.
Muscles and body felt great. Relaxed is not the right term, way beyond that. Another benefit, the next time I had sex my loads were much, much larger. Great sex.

I've been doing cold showers after my sauna sessions. My sauna sessions are only 15 min's at 165 F.
I do notice after two month of using the sauna, 3x a week, I am more calmer, less stress, and more relax about life.
I do notice my skin feels smoother and nicer, but other than that I don't notice much.
I also do not feel sore after workouts.
I guess it is working.

I guess short sauna after workout is good ( sad that my current gym doesn't have sauna) , but if you stay longer you get really easily dehydrated, so remember to drink.

My gym doesn't have a sauna, it has a steam room though, I'm interested to give this a go but not sure if a steam room is less effective.
Are the same strength benefits still achievable or somewhat achievable from the steam room as oppossed to the sauna?
I know saunas are way hotter than steam rooms that would be one obvious drawback, but what about the difference between wet and dry heat? Has anyone come across any further info?

I've been studying alot about toxin elimination, and I'm convinced it is really what is fucking up most Americans. With saunas you can eliminate as many toxins through your sweat as through your kidneys (ie heavy metals). The other thing is that in an acidic environment(after excercise), some damaged cells are especially vulnerable to heat and they are destroyed. In fact in many countries they are starting to use heat therapy as an additional treatment to cancer. I unfortunately don't have a sauna near by. For me activated charcoal has done wonder as has diatomaceous earth. Best hangover cure is to take some activated charcoal before you go out. 90 percent reduction in hangover.
