MacGyver possibly coming back

One of my favorite TV shows as a kid might be making a comeback: MacGyver. He was one of the male role models that I liked on TV, other than Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, and a whole bunch of others.

Excerpt from CNN article:

Following word that 20th Century Fox Television is rebooting "The A-Team," CBS is bringing MacGyver back to the small screen, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Based on the Richard Dean Anderson starrer that ran for seven seasons on ABC, the CBS take is described as a reimagining of the television series of the same name, following a 20-something MacGyver as he gets recruited into a clandestine organization where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening.

If this one comes back, I'd watch it.

Except, don't expect this new McGyver to be a serious, thoughtful, conservatively-dressed alpha male...
this new McGyver will have a gay best-friend, live in a "liberal" hood dotted with trans neighbors, will answer to a lesbian, short-haired boss at his "clandestine organization", and of course be African-American and fiercely opposed to gun ownership.

First thing I thought of, was the narrative would be: "We need to encourage more women in STEM!"

I wonder what McGuyver creator Lee David Zlotoff thinks about a reboot...

First thing I thought was to expect 'Diversity Kittens'.

Concept art for one of the finalists, proving my point.

Classic narrative-shaping. I did some more research, wondering who is behind this, and found this section of an interview:

Quote:Quote:

Diversity an ingredient for innovation

A recent report by the National Student Clearinghouse showed a decrease to just 19 percent in the number of U.S. women pursuing engineering bachelor degrees between 2004-2014.

“When you see an engineer or a tech person on a TV show or movies, something like 90 percent of them are male,” President Barack Obama has said. “So if you never see you in that position, it’s hard to imagine, well, that’s something I should be doing.”

Added USC Viterbi Dean Yannis C. Yortsos: “The new face of engineering is not that of Dilbert in the cartoons. It is the face of bright women and men spanning societal, racial and ethnic divides. In this view, diversity is not a political slogan, it is an essential ingredient for innovation.”

Of course, no proof is offered, but I bet Joe Rogan wouldn't sneer about how disbelieving in 'Zombie Diversity' makes him a more intelligent person.

So, who are the people who help spread the narrative?

Quote:Quote:

The mentors who will be paired with the finalists are Clayton Krueger of Scott Free Productions (3001: The Final Odyssey); Lori McCreary, CEO and founder of Revelations Entertainment (Madam Secretary); Roberto Orci, writer and producer (Scorpion, Sleepy Hollow, Hawaii Five-O); and Anthony Zuiker, creator of the CSI franchise.

Female MacGyver?

I can give a formula for the percentage of female engineering students in a country:
female engineers % = 100 % - female privilege score of country %

One thing is for sure. Short of a mass lifestyle change.
They won't be bringing RDA back.

Just goes to show; the 'Red Pill' is a lifelong endeavour.
Not a short term trend.

Damn, he got fat. Last time I saw him was his guest role in Stargate Universe five years ago. Looking a bit worse for wear already back then compared to his last years on SG1, if I recall correctly.
He's 65 now, not really an excuse to pork up like that, even if virtually all men will be well past their physical prime by then. I always thought he looked really good well into his 50s on the Stargate shows.

Honestly his skin and hair looks great. He's just fat. If took testosterone, dieted and worked out he would look the same.

Evil bastards are going to make macgyver gay or a woman. No way he's a straight white male.

I seem to recall that he had a bout with cancer a few years back.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

The original MacGyver was a great show, why can't they just leave things as they are and die the noble death most shows from the 80's deserved?

This new show could be intresting for one reason:

Since the time of original series the technology has progressed a bit. It would be intresting if the new MacGyver would show some modern tecnology hacks that could then be facilitate the viewers understanding about physics and tecnology the viewer uses in every day by making him think outside of box and discover some cool hacks that maybe could be useful in real life, too.

I believe that if there is a show that is worthy of recasting that this is definataley it, because we haven't seen MacGyver in smartphone era.

Like everyone else I hope the show doesn't gets modernisied in the politically correct way trough.

I'm sorry to disappoint you guys but you may not even appreciate the older MacGyver series.

I doubt any of you guys had any red pill wisdom back in the late 80's early 90's. This type of database to create this type of philosophy took decades in response to a decline that is clear and obvious now only to those willing to resist modern programming. Even Predatory Female was published in 1992. In Roosh's word, "The Predatory Female may be the first red pill book ever written. It warns men about the dangers of modern women well before male-centered internet communities began to do the same." You either gained the Red Pill through some type of personal experience, most likely your own divorce or your father's divorce.

The only reason why I can comment on this is because I watched the MacGyver series for the first time within a one year period. While Season One displays a very alpha and seductive MacGyver, you'll find that season two, three and four to show his downfall from an alpha character. I have yet to watch seasons five to seven. I can tell you that he is very Blue Pill and a leftist. You may not want to watch any other season but season one. While Season 4 is better than Season 2 and 3, it is still very blue pill. I would even say to white knight proportions based on his relationships with Penny Parker.

Do not forget that Macgyver is still a byproduct of Mid-1980's liberal hollywood.

I like the idea of a female MacGyver. She can teach other women to "engineer" a sandwich or how to deaden a gag reflex.

If they make MacGyver a woman, they should keep her identity behind hidden the iPhone she's always scrambling on for answers to the simplest-ass problems.

Because Hollywood is full of shitty affirmative action morons and they haven't come up with anything creative since the 90's.

As an African American I hope the show will go "racist" and schedule someone else for the part if that's the case. We've already been emasculated by popular culture enough.
