Bump!

I am moving into a new condo soon and have a few cool things to hang on walls, I have mounted moose antlers from a hunt a few years ago, a sweet world currency piece framed up, a flag from a US Open golf tourney I went to that's framed... All neat pieces for a living room area or office. But WTF do dudes hang in their bedrooms? Anyone here have any ideas?

All I can think of is a nice world map, I can get one framed if need be. If you have any ideas post them up, or just shit you have posted yourself, can get inspiration from that. I looked on pinterest put they were either too extravagant or total pussy repellent...

Just moved into a new place. I do tend to think that I need to change some of my furniture that I used to have. I don't think that my twin will work for me any more, so that is the first to be replaced. As far as wall art. I was going to go for prints of some classic art. Other than that I like my setup so far. Barring a few boxes that need to be sorted and stored away.

Don't buy a "full" size bed, go straight to a queen or even better a king bed.

I have a framed poster of MJ's epic foul-line-dunk from the Dunking Contest against Do Wilkins in my bedroom. Best poster in sports for me.

I've gotten some cool art from Patent Prints framed. A buddy of mine builds frames and he made me a shadowbox to hold a print of a Colt 1911 which may or may not have a loaded 1911 inside it.

I like this type of art because it is simple and utilitarian. Very masculine.

Not on here much anymore. I'm either out on 2 wheels or trying to kill something.

I never hung up art per se. I get black n white prints of pictures of random moments in my life in my iPhone inside a nice thick black n white frame from Ikea. It gives me something to talk about and a story to tell.

Get a big chalk board or a big dry erase board. Then get a lot of color chalk and markers. Put it in a spot that everybody walks by. Have everybody that comes through write a message on it with their name. They love doing it especially women.

Here's a good example of the size and look of the board.

It's here

You can probably find cheaper and bigger ones for sale at schools.

Good bump. I was just looking into some wall art myself.

I moved to my place a few months ago and just finished furnishing it. I went with a minimalistic but warm vibe. Every one who has been so far loved it. Girls specially love it - they often say they feel cozy and at home.

Everything in the aparment is either white, black, grey/silver, brown (leather, wood finish) or green (plants, living room hammock).

This kind of vibe:

As for wall art, I've got a few photographs made by friends or my own - think "art" rather than family portraits.

I've been researching some new prints but it's so expensive. I ended up on Etsy, where I found some very cheap, great looking stuff - hopefully it comes out nice.

For my bedroom, I'm thinking of putting up this set side by side, same size, although maybe in B&W:

Other shit I really like for the living room and rest of the house:

What do you guys think about studio vs 1-bedroom? I've had both, but I've become very minimalistic in the past few years and much prefer a studio. Something I can fit a queen size bed and maybe a very small couch into or maybe just the bed and a two-seat breakfast table set. The only issue I remember from my last studio like six years ago was that it can be awkward with everything being in one room (bed, computer table, couch, etc). Also, futons are bullshit. Folding from couch mode to bed mode during escalation or even afterward is not a good play.

Logistics and view are king for me, so I think the most baller studio is the best bet. Is it worth it to you to pay up or sacrifice logistics/view for the separated space?

Also, how necessary are big TVs for you now? I mean, just the ability to watch a movie - forget cable. In Russia, it's normal to just sit at the kitchen table and listen to music, talk, and drink, but are USA chicks expecting the 'couch in front of a big screen' environment to feel most comfortable nowadays?

^^ I have a TV for my own pleasure but NEVER turn it on when entertaining women unless it's just playing music on YouTube. I personally feel you should be all the entertainment a woman needs.
As for the studio vs. traditional 1bdrm debate, that's a good question. A well laid out studio could be effective with a changing wall separating common areas.
I will always pay more for a view, it's such a conversation piece when entertaining.

Gonna have to disagree with the chalk board i have one because i used it for work, it looks tacky.

This thread is so much win http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread...=151159763 , better than any other reddit thread and such.

I decided i'm gonna turn my second bedroom into an office. Something like this desk with an ergonomic chair. And a black rug.

I want to put up a canvas or a painting made from the monopoly art guy against the wall behind the desk, i could buy them of ebay but it takes 2 weeks to get here so i rather have a DIY project. What's the best way to print them? I used rasterbator once on regular A4 papers but the edges are starting to bend and doesn't look as good anymore. Photographic paper?

Another great resource for a creative, cozy and unique pad is Freunde Von Freunden.

FVF features photographers, designers, architects, entrepeneurs, artists - and showcase their homes.

Some don't look as good, are messy. But they all have character and reflect their owners. Nothing worse than going into someone's house and feeling like there's something off. After a while you realize - this home is sterile. It was built by a decorator, not by its owners.

You can get a great pad by using decorators. But to make it excellent one has to give it their own flavor.

Could you paint over it with some kind of resin?

Anybody have a loft apartment?

This picture has me curious. A loft is great for bachelors because it's cheaper and you can easily move from one room to another. I like having a big open space where I can work or play in different areas, and move the furniture to have a small workout/yoga area. I also love banging on the couch. My one concern would be sleeping, I love having a pitch dark room, but something like below could be a compromise.

I was looking for pictures of Lapo Elkann for this post and ran into this:

Fiat Heir Lapo Elkann’s Provocative Milan Penthouse

Quote:Quote:

When he acquired the 3,100-square-foot space, which is in a severe postwar palazzo, a bit over a year ago, a primary objective was to banish the apartment's darkness. "It had to be packed with light," Elkann says over a breakfast of persimmons, brioches, and coffee on his terrace, where an Italia Independent flag flutters when he is at home, snapping amid potted kumquat and lemon trees.

Working with Milanese architect Natalia Bianchi, a friend, the sun-loving Elkann added floor-to-ceiling windows and moved walls to simplify the penthouse's formal layout. "Lapo had a hand in every decision," says Bianchi, noting that he deliberated over materials and hues for weeks, an attention to detail that impressed the job's army of artisans. The sky framed by the new windows is amplified indoors in multiple shades of blue, from Tiffany to Yves Klein. "Blue is my signature color," says Elkann, an avid sailor. "I don't really like houses, so this place has been designed to resemble a boat and evoke the ocean." Audacious zigzag-pattern floors and striped pantry walls follow chromatic suit, as does crockery monogrammed with his nickname, Laps.

Although I think the boldness of the colors and patterns would drive me crazy if I lived there, I love the concept.

The house mirrors the owner's style to a tee - and that's what we all should be striving for.

I had my bed and coffee table made for me by a local craftsman who makes all of his stuff out of aged timber from Barns.

The coffee table is solid as hell and has a hidden compartment. I typically keep an AK, cash, and a good whiskey in there.

Cost like 500 for the bed, but it's rugged as fuck. If takes two people to move just the head board.

I accesorized it with rigging rings on the head board and sides, for tying ropes to. When a girl walks into my room and sees this dark, solid wood bed with these bright silver bondage rings on it, there is no doubt in her mind that this is where smash happens.

If you rock the rustic style, then custom furniture can be had at prices comparable to medium quality furniture, but the overall product is far superior.
