Looking for breakfast ideas with my new Vitamix

Not long ago, I picked up a nice new Vitamix blender, in efforts to eat healthier and ultimately, lose weight.

This year I'm down about 30 lbs, but looking to lose at least another 40-50 lbs. (Currently at 250 lbs)

Lately, I've been in the habit of making one of 2 shakes. Strawberry, banana, and milk. Or banana, peanuts, and milk.

I'm not much of a vegetable eater, and usually prefer shakes that have at least some level of sweetness. I'm trying to get more fiber in the morning diet as well.

Does anyone have a favorite shake they blend in the mornings, or perhaps a link to a site with great shakes for weight loss?

I have not been lifting in the gym lately, but plan to join soon, and I just acquired a jet ski, which should also help with the weekend exercise.

It sounds gross but give it a try. It's very good and taste nothing like spinich
2 cups ice
2 cups spinich
1 scoop protein powder (I prefer vanilla or cinnamon graham cracker)
1 banana
1 tbs peanut butter
Unsweetened almond milk so that it blends without ruining the machine

I'm usually pretty loose with my measurements and just base it off looks but I'm also not trying to lose weight. You might want to be a little more exact.
In my opinion the banana and protein powder make it sweet enough but you can experiment with 1 1/2 bananas. However this is just going to make it harder to loose weight. Your current shakes are pretty much all sugar so i would try and avoid them. I can't stress this enough but GO TO THE GYM and give max effort.

At the moment I'm blending my breakfast aswell.
I'm throwing in whatever I have.

This week I've had this:
1 cucumber
1 large chunk of pineapple
1 banana
1 pear.

adding a little water and a bowl of ice, voila!

I'm enjoying this together with a jug of coffee and then I'm off to the gym.

Just general advice here: Mask your vegetables with stuff you like. As one of the recipes above says, adding spinach does not make a recipe taste like nothing but spinach. Slowly increase the amount of nutrient-dense vegetables and/or slightly reduce the amount of sweet stuff until you hit a balance that you enjoy to maximize nutrition. Think about replacing milk with almond milk, preferably unsweetened if you can tolerate it. When I'm juicing, half an apple and a chunk of ginger can cover the bitterness of a beet with leaves and 4-6 collard green leaves. I realize you're making smoothies, but the principle should work.

Congratulations on the weight loss and keep going.

Stay away from high glycemic foods.
Water, spinach, black and blue berry mix (fresh or frozen), avocado slices (good fats).
I'm 250 and down from 285.

Definitely some good suggestions going on in this thread.

Although you say you're not much of a fan of greens, spinach is relatively tasteless on its own, so you can easily blend in a handful (or more) without hampering the taste at all.

I personally like to throw in a lot of nuts in there: I add flax seeds, brazil nuts (would highly recommend buying a pack of these in bulk), and then some peanut butter. For some extra good fats you can thrown in some coconut oil, even olive oil works. Just make sure to buy as much as you can from organic or otherwise reputable sources, just to ensure the quality of the nutrients you're putting into your body. Personally I find the taste sweet enough as along as the banana I use for the smoothie is ripe enough, but like Crawb said, if you're using this as a post-workout smoothie for example, a scoop of whey protein will definitely make it more than sweet enough.

I also agree that you should try to wean yourself off the strawberries for your daily shake (due to the high fructose content), unless you add them in every once in a while just to change things up.
