Jack Ma, China's Richest Man, Says He Was Happier When He Wasn't a Billionaire

I strongly recommend that you guys read book "Delivering Happiness" from founder of zappos.

He too struggled with finding happiness while making millions. I think that on average millionaires are just about as happy(or slightly more) as people making normal wage.

I read few other books from very rich people and most agree that what brings them happiness is the process of getting to riches, not the end result.

I'd be happy to take a few hundred million off of Jack Ma's hands if he's trying to get back to that $12/month life.

I think Robert Putnam found social ties were the best predictor of happiness

The problem is for all of us is there's a physical limit to how much "Hoes and Blow" one can handle. I think many people have a "set point" of what they think will make them happy that they have trouble getting past, they get there, but have no idea what to do next.

I knew a blue collar guy whose dream was alway to get a Trans Am and party, well he won 4 million in a lottery, bought himself seven of them and pimped them all up and got bored out of his mind. To him, the idea of upgrading to a Vette, BMW or some other high end car and invest the rest was not something he seemed to be able to grasp... he was broke in two years.

The ones with money and fame that seem to hold it all together are guys like Clooney who do charitable work, it keeps them busy and they get exposure to a lot of high end ass. The big business Millionaire/billionaires work 80 hours a week and have thousands of people depending on their decisions to stay employed and get divorced raped for their troubles.

Some of my random stuff that just pop out of my head:

Hes not "the man behind the man"
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Ma...hindTheMan

And imho hes lacking some characters in his 5 man band to be effective and "fun"
(he might have gotten the 5 man band right pre his billionare success but not hold on to it, dunno?):

Notably the heavy and the dragon to take hits for him and to offload some pressure of any form from his work.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy (lol)
