Knee injury recovery

Hey all,

Last night, I either sprained or re-tore my MCL last night for the 2nd time. What are exercises that I can do to strengthen my knee?

Both times my knee slid out of place and popped back in almost instantaneously.

What can I do to prevent that from happening?

Well first of all don't you wanna get to the hospital and find other it's a sprain or whether you have re torn it?

Can't really give you specific rehab advice until you have had your injury diagnosed.

If its a sprain you won't need surgery. If it's a tear you probably will.

We can't really help you until I know what it is.

Yeah, I got that set up for tomorrow to see what's up.

But I'm asking in general, coinciding with recovery/physical therapy, what are things I can do to strengthen the knee in general? Not right now, of course. I'm off this till late June more than likely.

If you injured something non-muscular, the only thing you can do is see a doctor and get appropriate PT. A ligament is structural and isn't going to heal like a muscle would.

Stick to the plans by the physical therapist. Bonus points if you can get to someone specializing in athletic injuries.

Then, start squats. They will help. But your ligaments have to be good first.
