Medellin Apartment Location as Status Bump?

Medellin Apartment Location as Status Bump?

I'm looking for apartments in Medellin to stay for 1-5 months. I initially was planning to get a studio in El Poblado, but looking around, it seems like studios start at ~$900 in El Poblado. I can swing this if I really want to because I'm currently running under-budget for this trip, but I don't want to pay more if there's not a real advantage.

I've only been in Colombia for about a week, but I've read a bit on the forums about how important status is with Colombian girls. Is it a big deal to tell a girl I'm living in El Poblado vs. a cheaper neighborhood like Laureles (Mixx's suggestion)? Or is it insignificant enough that it shouldn't factor into my decision?

My criteria for location is just:
-Walking distance to a good gym
-Walking distance to a good supermarket
-Safe enough that I don't have to stress about getting mugged if I'm walking alone in the 8am-3am timeframe.
-Walking distance to nightlife (bonus) but I don't mind if have to cab/metro it to good night spots

Get an apartment that is within walking distance of where you'll be going out at night. That way you'll have zero logistical issues of getting back a girl since you live "just right there." This means more one-night stands and yes, the girl puts more value on you since you live in a good spot. But if you don't have ONS game, then it will offer you little benefit.

If you were staying for a long time, that amount of money would be a lot, but since it's short term where you'll be wanting to fuck as many girls as possible, go for the swank option. An exception is if you had a gf waiting for you in Medellin, then get the Laureles place since location won't matter.

Thanks for the advice, Roosh. What neighborhood do you recommend for good night life? I'm using Bang Colombia as my main guide (a big reason I ended up in Medellin to begin with), but in that you seem to discourage El Poblado for night life because it's overrun with gringos. Or were you just saying that Parque Lleras specifically is too overrun with gringos but other parts are worthwhile? The barrios in Bang Colombia you mention as good night life spots seem to be bad living spots since you say they're not walkable and more suburban.

Problem is every guy likes different parts of Medellin. If you're going for the first time, you should do 1-2 weeks of recon before you get an apartment. It may turn out that you love or hate Poblado.

Though with Poblado at worst case it's centrally located. Still don't fall asleep at other neighborhoods like Sabaneta. Even doing 3 days of research on the ground will make it easier for you to decide than booking before you've been there. In smaller cities like Cordoba, Reykjavik, Poznan, no recon is necessary. But Medellin, Rio, Bogota, stay for a week first before deciding.

I may be overplaying how important it is to have a place within walking distance, since I don't remember Colombian girls chafing at taking taxis, but in the past 6 months it has helped me quite a bit when I'm able to give a good answer to the "where do you live?" question that is sure to come early. There is something about "it takes about 5 minutes to walk here" that seems to help in the same-night sex department.
