I'd say worse than nothing. If he looks like that then he's depressed, and going to a trendy nightclub because of pity is only going to make him feel worse. You nailed it, OP. I had a dislike for this thing when I saw it on a few FB feeds (gotta stop looking at that shit) but I couldn't quite put my finger on why, other than the obvious fat acceptance angle. The attention whoring angle is exactly it, these girls will soak up the opportunity for their 15 min of internet fame by posing for selfies in front of the guy. They don't really give a shit about him at all, only the chance for attention to themselves and the feels that they're doing "the right thing."

I'm not too bothered about the women in this thing. men and women are doing it.

People grand standing on a guy because he was humiliated is the type of self-serving egotistical bullshit that leaves people feeling used.

I'm not saying the women aren't selfish cunts, but if a man can exploit his obesity for a plane ticket and weekend of partying in LA then why not?

The fact that they're using him and will likely poke fun at him is his problem. While ideally he would read this forum, get in shape, dress nice and learn game the odds of that happening are pretty slim.

I'm sure he's aware of the fact that he has no women in his life. I'm also sure that he's had multiple doctors tell him his life will end soon if he doesn't lose weight, but clearly he doesn't have what it takes to make major changes in his life. I've met people like this. You can't reason with them, and even if they get on a diet they're the type who will fail at it four days later and order a pepperoni pizza.

The only way for people like this to make major changes is to have an epiphany and wake the fuck up. Maybe when he realizes people from around the country are making fun of his fat ass he'll turn things around, maybe not. In the mean time, let him have a little vacation and enjoy the matrix he's currently stuck in.

Strongly doubt it. He looks to be late 30s early 40s, so he's been big for a very long time. Apathy set in a long time ago. He's probably tried a dozen "diets" only to fail them all. He has felt shame before, and will feel it again, so he's learned to deal with it.

I also don't see it as a bad thing. I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume that she felt some empathy for him, and wanted to do a nice thing. This to me shows the difference between fat acceptance for men and for women.

With fat women, they insist that you find them "beautiful" and "chase them" just as men do with actual attractive women. The irony of the phrase "fat shaming" is that a lot of these giant whales have outlets (XoJane, HuffPo, Jezebel) where they attempt to shame society (and men) into putting them at the top of the sexual market.

Whereas basically this guy was just minding his own business when people decided to make fun of him. I'm not going to say this guy shouldn't lose weight, a lot of it. Of course he should. But to just point and laugh at someone like that is childish.
