Bed Bugs

I'm in a low budget hotel in a place called Chung King mansions in Hong Kong. Everything about this place was tolerable: the loud backpackers, South Asians trying to hustle me, and general level of inconvenience at every step. However, I'm very glad I'm jetlagged and was able to notice this at 3 AM:

BED BUG INVASION.

I've had one experience with bed bugs and it was a fuckin nightmare.

There is a definite epidemic of bed bugs happening around the world in major urban centers. It's fuckin gross - the thing is they don't necessarily congregate in places that are dirty but they can travel by attaching themselves to your clothes and/or bags. I literally do not have enough space in this bedroom to repack but I'm going to move into a more expensive place later.

Any suggestions for semi-budget hotels in Hong Kong?

YMG
I stayed at HK Hostel on 47 Patterson....great location. The place is basic. Didn't have issue with bedbugs.

With regards to bedbugs, this is a now a global problem. The issue is that they return to your home in your luggage and once they set up shop, it is a nightmare.

Lots of websites giving advice on ways to minimize the risk.

Do you remember the name of your hotel?

Anyone else have suggestions for hotels in the 40-100 dollar range in Hong Kong?

It was a hostel. The name I believe is 'Hong Kong Hostel'

I still remember the address: 47 Patterson in Causeway Bay.

Rooms are small. Would be good only for a short period of time. Amazingly I was still paying some 75 USD for this place...perhaps because the SEVENS rugby tourney was in town that weekend....

I'm staying at Lee Garden Guest House in Tsim Sha Tsui right now and I highly recommend it. As far as budget Hong Kong hotels go, it is well located, well priced, spacious (for HK), clean, and the service is great.
