Baking Soda for deodorant?

Hey guys, I read online that you can use baking soda with a little water for deodorant.... that its supposedly more natural than most stuff. Has anyone done this or heard about it?

As long as you don't use Antiperspirants you should be fine.

Funny I just started using this a couple weeks. And yes it works miraculously! Definitely worth a try. I'm never going back to deodorant.

wouldn't it just be easier to buy Arm & Hammer Deoderant since that has baking soda already in it? Never tried A&H, but Herban Cowboy makes good organic deodorant:

I use one of the "crystal" roll-on natural deodorants from Whole Foods. It uses a potassium salt to kill the bacteria that causes the smell. None of the nasty chemicals in the commercial stuff. It doesn't cut down on perspiration very much (maybe a little) but it's probably not a good idea to stop up your sweat glands anyway.

So you can attest for sure, that your armpits aren't frowsy from the baking soda, my dude? If so, I think I will try it as well....

Baking Soda for deodorant?

Really roosh? What a coincidence.... I´m also looking for natual alternatives to shampoo and I found a couple ways online...

http://lifehackery.com/2008/09/18/home-9/

So far I did the egg and beer thing but idk if its very practical for a daily basis.

BTW I like the whole baking soda doeodarnt thing because I can fill the same bag with more baking soda from the natural store nearby and I don´t create trash from the deodorant containers. I know its not going to save the world and I do plenty of other things that pollute but its nice still!

I'll have to give the baking soda a try. That crystal stuff doesn't come close to being effective enough. I was using Toms for a while, which is a good alternative, but it substitutes zinc for aluminum. They don't know what long term topical zinc will do, and there is a link between chronic zinc supplementation and prostate cancer. I only read the label recently, and immediately switched to some other natural brand sold at whole foods. It works better than the crystal, but not as good as Toms. My right armpit must have some kind of super pheromone gland in it, because stuff that works for my left armpit, more or less, my right armpit destroys.

So my current solution is to use the natural stuff from whole foods and to supplement it by spraying one spray of $60 an ounce Creed cologne under my right arm. It works for a while, and mixes sublimely with a mans natural scent, but its an expensive fix. Also, it barely lasts the day as a deodorant.

If anyone is interested in why baking soda might work, its the strongest alkalizer / acid neutralizer available as a food item. So, however it works, it likely as something to do with its alkalizing ability.

Really, it works.

In fact it works so well I'll probably write about it on the blog at some point.

Baking Soda for deodorant?

Thanks to you guys (and this thread), I stared at my deodorant/anti-perspirant stick for like five minutes this morning, thinking: "Fuck." "Is this shit giving me ball cancer?" "All these chemicals can't be good."

I already strive for a mostly natural lifestyle, but the deo was one of those few things I just figured I'd take the hit on. All the natural solutions I'd tried in the past had me kickin' like a New York City cab driver in the middle of summer.

So it's just baking soda and water? What are the proportions, 1:1? Do you just rub that paste into your pits or do you keep it diluted down in a spray bottle? How long do the effects last?

I keep a plastic bag of the baking soda (looks like cocaine, today I had friends over and took it out pretending it was coke and I was going to do a line, haha it was fun) and a glass near the sink. I put a spoon full of baking soda in the glass and add the least amount of water possible to were its more paste than just watery. I stick my index and middle finger in and just put it on my arm pits.... works all day!

I was going to try it this morning but it's relatively warm in my city today but I chickened out (still a bit skeptical, it may not work).

I didn't want to be the funky guy at work all day so I opted for regular roll on deodrant. I think I'll try it when I go to visit my hippie loving lizard this weekend...

I just put some baking soda around my balls. While that area has what I consider to by a normal crotch odor, I just want to see if baking soda has an effect down there. If so I can recommend it to women with smelly vaginas.

Cornstarch works wonders down there on a humid day. I worked in a kitchen with staff bathrooms on three floors, every mens room had two boxes of cornstarch in them and there was an unspoken rule against double dipping.

If baking soda works for smelly vaginas, then I'm going to keep an "open in case of emergency" baggy in my wallet. I'll just have to remember to remove it when I go through airports.

I used to use baking soda (actually a girl I dated used it and I thought why not).

Pros: it definitely works
cons: if you put too much it can start burning after long use.

Now I use arm and hammer (which has baking soda) and I use baking soda to clear up the smell in fridge, spots around the house, etc.

it can also be used to clean rough areas and bathrooms (i.e. like a soap)

Has anyone tried it out since reading the thread? I tried about 5 different deodorants before choosing speed stick. I'm a sweaty muthafucka and it helps the most.

Shaving your balls and trimming your pubs helps out with sweat a looooot. I've never had a girl say anything or make a face when she goes down so I think I'm good

LMAO!! It's like we are psychic! I was thinking the same thing this morning! I like to throw baby powder down there in general so when the lizards bo, they don't smell that phew-neek essence.

By the way, I applied a generous dose of arm and hammer to my pits this morning. I have my gillette clear gel as backup in case the shyt don't work.

But so far, so good, I have been sniffing my armpits all morning and it smells neutral.

Since you have also tried it on your balls, I think after a pit check tonight, I will also douse my jewels with soda and take it from there.

Cleaning the house, freshening up the balls, I feel like Macgyver in this..

Fcuking A!
