Mess with Assad and Iran and your going to have to fight Russia, at least diplomatically. The White House is totally out of touch with their foreign policy and world opinion. I picked a hell of a time to enlist.

Yemen is about to go into meltdown, Egypt is going into meltdown in certain areas, we're leaving Afghanistan, Iraq is pretty much done, Libya is a failing state, Syria is an absolute hell hole on Earth, Iran is waging proxy war to prevent massacres by its enemies on other states;

And the congress of the USA wants to plant its collective foot up the ME's arse again by initiating another large-scale ground war and it wants to get rid of Assad "because he is bad".

This does not take into account the EU coming storm over economics and the Russian-Ukraine problem.

Are the US hawks this delusional or are they acting as rational human beings? How can this be allowed to continue? Where are the checks and balances?

My vote is against using ground forces. More drones, more bombs. I'll pay a hefty war tax to keep them living underground permanently.

It comes down to two things: money and momentum.
To a man with a hammer everything looks like a nail...so there is a natural tendency for the USA to look for military solutions as the primary option = momentum.
Also, the money is there. As Eisenhower foresaw, vast economic interests are not at stake in war, and create an incentive.

I don't want to misrepresent what you've written here, so I'm going to ask you this for clarification purposes.

Do you believe Israel created ISIS?

They benefit greatly from the existence and actions of ISIS.

That much is obvious.

An unstable surrounding region, justifies their massive military production. They have expansionist aspirations too(1967). All the turmoil surrounding their borders suits their agenda perfectly.

In October 1985, specialist operators from the KGB's Group "A" (Alpha) were dispatched to Beirut, Lebanon. The Kremlin had been informed of the kidnapping of four Soviet diplomats by the militant group, the Islamic Liberation Organization (a radical offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood). It was believed that this was retaliation for the Soviet support of Syrian involvement in the Lebanese Civil War.[9] However, by the time Alpha arrived, one of the hostages had already been killed. It is alleged that through a network of supporting KGB operatives, members of the task force identified each of the perpetrators involved in the crisis; once these had been identified, the team began to take relatives of these militants as hostages. Following the standard Soviet policy of not negotiating with terrorists, some of the hostages taken by Alpha were dismembered, and their body parts sent to the militants. The warning was clear: more would follow unless the remaining hostages were released immediately. The show of force worked, and for a period of 20 years no Soviet or Russian officials were taken captive, until the 2006 abduction and murder of four Russian embassy staff in Iraq.

Jesus Christ.
It's ethically dubious but the results speak for themselves.
The Russians don't fuck around.

The person who quoted that cut out part of the reference on purpose. But hey, what does truth matter anyway? It's a kewl story, go torture!!11!!

The Beirut hostage crisis[edit]
In October 1985, specialist operators from the KGB's Group "A" (Alpha) were dispatched to Beirut, Lebanon. The Kremlin had been informed of the kidnapping of four Soviet diplomats by the militant group, the Islamic Liberation Organization (a radical offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood). It was believed that this was retaliation for the Soviet support of Syrian involvement in the Lebanese Civil War.[9] However, by the time Alpha arrived, one of the hostages had already been killed. The show of force worked, and for a period of 20 years no Soviet or Russian officials were taken captive, until the 2006 abduction and murder of four Russian embassy staff in Iraq.

However, the veracity of this story has been brought into question. Another version says that the release of the Soviet hostages was the result of extensive diplomatic negotiations with the spiritual leader of Hezbollah, Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah, who appealed to King Hussein of Jordan, and the leaders of Libya and Iran, to use their influence on the kidnappers.[10]

Don't snipe. If you have an issue with something i've quoted or a reference please state your grievance. This is pretty low tier for alpha group ops btw. I don't find torture and murder to be sexy. However "murder" is often defined as an illegitimate killing of another human being.

A justified killing..what would you describe it as?

Well as it wasn't addressed to me directly, I took the liberty of going on a tangent. I don't assume correlation=causation either, so apologies for my poor articulation.
