Cycling injury

About a year ago I decided cycling would be a good way to improve my fitness so I got a mountain bike and started riding it everywhere. The problem is I think one day I might have overdone it and damaged something.

I was riding up hill into a headwind and I was going to stop and walk but then decided to push through the pain barrier and make it to the top of the hill. A few days later I noticed a clicking sensation in in my hips. I can feel some ligaments moving over the hip bone. There is also a stiffness and a swollen feeling in my upper thigh. There was initially no pain at all but the clicking sensation when I walk has not gone away and it has been over a year. Now in addition to clicking there is slight pain in the ball and socket joint of my right hip.

I haven't gone to the Dr because I know they would just send me off for an X-ray, prescribe anti-inflammatory pills and then do sweet fuck all. Have I permanently damaged or inflamed a tendon? Has anybody else had something like this? Anybody have any recommendations?

Cycling injury

I've experienced the exact same.

From my research, it's an issue with the hip flexor.

Here's what helped me:
1. Foam rolling the area - bring a piece of leather to bite down on.
2. Stretching (check out numbers 6 and 8)
3. Slowly strenghtening the hip flexor:

4. Streghtening the glutes
