6 Days in Costa Rica

This was my first trip traveling since going Red Pill without banging as my main purpose. I didn't choose Costa Rica, I participated only partially in planning the itinerary and generally deferred to my buddies for this trip. As a result, it turned into more of an adventure/beach type trip than gaming every day and night which I still enjoyed greatly. We went over xmas and NYE for 16 days total. Probably the most relevant information for you gents on this board is that it is not a good country for banging, unless maybe if you focused on San Jose and maybe Tamarindo. Lots and lots of couples and families. Regardless, all four of us did bang.
About us: Same guys as the Iceland trip and Estonia trip, plus another newly single friend who is pretty decent looking, loud and fun, and knows how to interact with girls. White dude who is very tall. So for ease of keeping track, there is:

Logistical Information: We flew into Liberia airport because we got a smoking deal for a flight ($590 RT) from NYC and we jumped on it. From the airport we arranged for someone to pick us up and drive us to our first airbnb in Playa Del Coco. You can get a SIM card from a mobile store, very cheap. Add credits by buying more from them or any little shack that sells it. I would suggest getting enough so you can have the "mes" data program so you can always have internet during your stay. The use of Google Maps was invaluable to us.
Moreover, we rented a car for our trip. You definitely need an SUV if you are going around to different cities to handle the unpaved roads. But be aware it was pricey as hell, almost $2400 for about 13 days. This included full insurance, and good thing too because our car got dinged a few times just being parked. Again if you are driving, I highly suggest Google Maps to get around from city to city.
Food: It was pretty good. Not Colombia good, but good nonetheless. I fell in love with gallo pinto (dirty rice and beans) and of course the coffee in Costa Rica. Absolutely amazing. Drank it black and loved it. If you can find places that use the wooden thing with the cloth pouch, try it. I loved it so much I bought one and now make coffee using it at home.
As for drinks, everyone drinks Imperiale beer. I liked the Silver kind but the regular kind is good too. Almost tastes like a Corona, we would cut and put limes in and couldn't tell the difference. Their alcohol is guaro which was okay. At least it wasn't disgusting like Aguardiente or Brennavin.
Costs: It's not cheap there. I wouldn't say LA prices but going to American style dinners and bars every night got expensive. I spent about $3300 excluding airfare over the 16 days. The cost of the car, our lodging during New Year's (see below), and eating good meals added up. To compare, I spent $1260 in Budapest over two weeks.
Guys: The local guys are no competition. However in the tourist heavy city (Tamarindo) you will have to work a little bit, but not much.
Girls: As you will see in the city to city breakdown, there were really only viable options in two cities - San Jose and Tamarindo. San Jose had the cutest girls in Costa Rica I saw, and Tamarindo had a mix of tourists and locals from all over the country there to celebrate the new year's. The locals vary from light to dark skinned, and can get very cute. Very thin to very fat, basically all over the place. But the ones that go out to clubs are usually light skinned and cute, and on the younger side. I was actually impressed and would rank them higher than Medellin, who I would say are the closest comparison in terms of the type of look they have.
I can see them fucking right the same night, we were just stuck with a holiday season where the main city that lends itself to ONS (San Jose) was empty while we were there, despite it being a weekend night. Personality wise nothing special. They seemed indifferent to us as foreigners. They definitely drank and tended to be in larger groups with guy friends. Also, lots of whores in every city we went to that we ended up going out to a bar or what not.
Pipelining: We Tindered the shit out of the country. Despite that effort, only one of us got a girl out via tinder and she was massive. I'm sure there may be other means online but again this wasn't our main purpose of the trip so we didn't exhaust all means available to us.
City by City Report: I thought this would be the best way to go about it rather than generalize across each city, because each city had its own nuances and benefits/disadvantages. Also a night by night report wouldn't work because there are several nights we took off or that were uneventful.
Playa Del Coco: We started our trip here. It was very cheap likely because it attracts the least amount of foreigners. There is one main drag, and there are basically only two big clubs/bars, Zi Lounge and Lizard Lounge. We went Saturday night and it was going off. People in the streets everywhere with mostly centered on those two clubs. Girls were not very receptive to us, and a few even scurried away when I tried to hit on them. Barely any tourists. The beach itself kind of sucked too. Really ugly, small and not to lay out on. Coconutz is a good sports bar to catch NFL games. No makeouts, no nothing during the few nights here. Sunday and Monday night were dead.
Arenal/La Fortuna: Where the big volcano is, and the hot springs. First the non-game stuff. One of our favorite spots was Tabacon hot springs. I highly suggest you visit it and pony up the $40 or so (add $25 more for meal if you want, which was good). Amazingly relaxing, very nice resortish feel, just high quality all around. We went at night and it was great.
Now onto the girls. Objectively speaking, very very very few opportunities. We were there midweek which didn't help, but I can't see this place being very good. Unless you get lucky. And as so it happens, we got extremely lucky...
We took a cab into town from our hotel (about 5 min drive) and tried walking around bars to find something going on. Nothing. So we go into a nice restaurant and sit at the bar and decide to order a ton of food and gorge ourselves. After about 30 minutes and right before our food comes, out of nowhere 4 white, decent looking girls walk into the restaurant and sit at the other side of the bar. Now realize, we are 4 guys here...what are the odds this happens in such a dead town?
Send in our opener (Buddy #3) he starts chatting them up. The other three of us follow after a signal, and we all start chatting with each other. The girls are from Delaware. They are drinking beers, so we start drinking beers. All of us are switching talking to whoever though there are some slight connections being made between sets of guys and girls. I focus on the quietest one, a very tatted up one with an absolutely amazing body (what a f'n shame to tat that up) and decent face. By amazing body I mean she is wearing a crop top and sitting with not even a hint of a fold on her stomach (straight down), amazing small bubble butt and natural D perky breasts.

Whatever. I convince mother hen to give us 10 minutes alone and we take off to my room.

We leave and go back into the room, to see Single Buddy with his girl there, and also mother hen. Wtf? Finally we fall asleep.
In the morning Buddy #3's girl comes in and starts yelling like a wretched American girl "you damn sluts get up I want to go home!" The girls get up and get dressed, mother hen actually changes in front of us so I get a glimpse of her tits which are nice as well, my girl kisses me goodbye and they leave. Rafting Trip: Our next step was a three day rafting trip on Rio Pacuare. We drove to their headquarters and took a bus to the start of the rafting trip. This was a very fun and interesting experience for all of us, mostly the rainforest jungle lodge we stayed at moreso than the rafting, which was still fun don't get me wrong. The lodge though was a great experience as we had no access to internet, phone or hot water. Tons of mosquitos and massive bugs, toads and frogs, random birds, and it would downpour rain randomly all over the place. Highlight here was hanging out with one of the worker's husband who took us fishing by the river, then gave us shots of moonshine from the mountains. We got drunk off ONE shot, and that is not an exaggeration. Mostly families and couples here, so we spent our nonadventure time drinking beers and playing cards. Good break in the middle of our trip.
San Jose: So I've been to about 85 cities outside the US. San Jose I think has to be the ugliest one I've ever been to. I could never imagine living in this city, I think I would kill myself. I rather live in Novosibirsk than here. Barb wire everywhere, dirty streets, whores all around, and so on. That said, there are some cute ass local girls here. We got in on Saturday night and went to Hoxton which was recommended here on the forum. It was a great place, lots and lots of talent. We chatted up several girls and got a few numbers, but nothing really stuck so we headed out to Rapsodia. There again cute girls, but not very crowded. Buddy #3 starts making out with one girl, and Single Buddy is chatting up another one of her friends. The other girls in the group weren't receptive. Eventually call it a night and go home.
Next night is dead, we decide what the hell let's see what this Hotel Del Rey is all about. Well we walk in and while it's not my thing to do P4P, I don't judge. The beach is very nice, we did some surfing, laying out drinking coconut water fresh from the source and getting tans. There are bars and restaurants everywhere on the strip. Just follow the tripadvisor reviews for food. You can probably easily daygame anywhere too as all day and night there are people walking around. Here are the good spots for night game:
-Sharkey's: The sports bar that always has people, and on Saturdays has ladies' night. Everyone knows this place and is good for the off nights as well.
- Pacifico: Where the locals go, and lots of cute CR girls go here. Young crowd, a bit more rough for CR standards anyway. Won't have any problems but it's not gringo'd out like the other spots.
- Aqua: The actual nightclub in town, didn't like it at all.
- Crazy Monkey: Unbelievable on ladies' night (Fridays).
As to the Tamarindo stories:
Night before NYE: We head out to Sharkeez and it is packed. I start talking to a girl who opens me with "hola" and is sexy as hell, I get her to grab her friends and come make intros to all my friends. Five minutes later she realizes that I don't realize that she's a whore, and tells me "she is a working girl." I say thanks but no thanks and she walks away. Get on the beach and there are thousands of people there setting off fireworks right next to us all over. We drink, midnight comes and goes, and we go back into the club. Somehow we lose the 4 girls, and I see another group of girls at a table in the back and start chatting them up. All are Canadian and on some group trip with several families. One girl gives me a cigarette, so I start smoking it and a bouncer comes up to me and asks me if I understand Spanish which I do, and he tells me in Spanish that he is warning me about smoking. For some reason after another 10 minutes I light up another cigarette, see him coming towards me and ditch it, but too late. He tells me this is my last warning (mind you, other people are smoking but I'm being singled out). Whatever, I'm not going to risk my NYE night on a cigarette. The hotter girls all have boyfriends who are there. Eventually one girl who is a 6.5 at best sits with Single Buddy and they start chatting. Her sister who is a 6 at best hits on Buddy #3 but he rejects her. Then she comes to me and starts hitting on me and I reject her too.
In a drunken state Buddy #3 and I decide to go venture to other bars, so we leave and head to Aqua. Go there and it's terrible, we try a few other spots and give up and go back to Pacifico. We return about 2 hours later, and our other buddies are still there and haven't moved, talking to the same girls. Russia Buddy and Buddy #3 start talking to two Danish girls now, Single Buddy still on Canadian girl. Again her sister comes up to me, the 6 (at best), and tries to makeout. I push her away, but she keeps persisting. Conclusion: Costa Rica has nice beaches and amazing jungles, world-class coffee and pretty good food. I would recommend people do visit it once, but I would not repeat. And don't do it for the girls unless you can handle San Jose. I'm glad I went and had a lot of fun, but don't see myself going back in the future. The lodge though was a great experience as we had no access to internet, phone or hot water. Highlight here was hanging out with one of the worker's husband who took us fishing by the river, then gave us shots of moonshine from the mountains. We got drunk off ONE shot, and that is not an exaggeration. Mostly families and couples here, so we spent our nonadventure time drinking beers and playing cards. Good break in the middle of our trip.
San Jose: So I've been to about 85 cities outside the US. San Jose I think has to be the ugliest one I've ever been to. I could never imagine living in this city, I think I would kill myself. I rather live in Novosibirsk than here. Barb wire everywhere, dirty streets, whores all around, and so on. That said, there are some cute ass local girls here. The beach is very nice, we did some surfing, laying out drinking coconut water fresh from the source and getting tans. There are bars and restaurants everywhere on the strip. Just follow the tripadvisor reviews for food. You can probably easily daygame anywhere too as all day and night there are people walking around. Here are the good spots for night game:
-Sharkey's: The sports bar that always has people, and on Saturdays has ladies' night. Everyone knows this place and is good for the off nights as well.
- Pacifico: Where the locals go, and lots of cute CR girls go here. Young crowd, a bit more rough for CR standards anyway. Won't have any problems but it's not gringo'd out like the other spots.
- Aqua: The actual nightclub in town, didn't like it at all.
- Crazy Monkey: Unbelievable on ladies' night (Fridays).
As to the Tamarindo stories:
Night before NYE: We head out to Sharkeez and it is packed. I start talking to a girl who opens me with "hola" and is sexy as hell, I get her to grab her friends and come make intros to all my friends. For some reason after another 10 minutes I light up another cigarette, see him coming towards me and ditch it, but too late. He tells me this is my last warning (mind you, other people are smoking but I'm being singled out). Whatever, I'm not going to risk my NYE night on a cigarette. The hotter girls all have boyfriends who are there. Eventually one girl who is a 6.5 at best sits with Single Buddy and they start chatting. Her sister who is a 6 at best hits on Buddy #3 but he rejects her. Then she comes to me and starts hitting on me and I reject her too.
In a drunken state Buddy #3 and I decide to go venture to other bars, so we leave and head to Aqua. Go there and it's terrible, we try a few other spots and give up and go back to Pacifico. We return about 2 hours later, and our other buddies are still there and haven't moved, talking to the same girls. I had a blast in CR. Yes the coffee is top notch. I brought back big $2 bags of it as gifts to friends and family. You absolutely have to go rafting. Great experience. CR has a mix of locals(Ticas) and Colombian girls. Also prostitution is legal so lots of hot 18 year old hookers walking around like its no big deal.
