Well, he's banned, but I definitely suggest using your own photos, plus costco printout and thrift store frames. Better conversation piece

Even though skip has long been banned.

I wanna keep this thread going.
I'm trying to say up my place as a nice bachelor pad.. That doesn't include a lot of stuff that will be a headache to move.
Such as extremely large or heavy furniture.. Or items that will permanently change my apartment such as permanent wall fixtures.

I'm 22 and have had my own apartment for the last couple months now.

The problem is, it's three bedrooms. All wood floors.
One bedroom I use pretty much for storage, extra clothes and work stuff. The third bedroom has only a bed in a empty room.

Even though I'll likely move in the next 8 months, I want to decorate my place so that I don't have to come home to bare walls.

Another factor... I'm limited to places that can quickly ship and make it to my overseas address.
Like Amazon.

I like the map idea, in planning to find a big wall sized map and I'm trying to find some abstract art type stuff.
I don't really need many appliances because I have to use converters for American appliances.

Any advice?

Hey guys, MMX2010 started a thread on my behalf in the Lifestyle section (which is where this thread should probably be as well). I'm dealing with setting up the design of my new apartment in Tribeca, but I wanted to challenge your choice of a map of the world on your wall....why?

I think that if the answer is "because it defines me as a person", then you're going down the wrong path. If the answer is "because it improves the design of a vagina kill-zone" then I think you've got the right idea, but I will accept "because I need this visual to keep my sharpness" or something like that. So for example, I'm planning on having a poster of grape varietals on some wall (maybe my bathroom?) because I want to improve my knowledge of wine, but I wouldn't just put a map of the world (as cool as I think vintage maps can be) "just because" OR because "that apartment defines me".

Remember what Tyler Durden says, "the thing you own end up owning you".

I plan to slowly revamp my whole place. This is not only to add to my enjoyment of the place (as well as vagina moisturizing affect), but also for my bottom line as I've been doing some vacation rental type stuff on the side.

Recently I helped my friend move and his girlfriend who is a designer was getting rid of her bedroom set. They were super busy and couldn't get it sold on Craig's List (lots of tire kickers) so I picked up the entire thing for under $250 bucks and they even helped me load it along with some free extras.

I previously had a decently nice wood dresser but I hadn't bothered to put all the handles in it and two mismatched side tables with some sort of matched lamps. Now the dresser, both side tables, and the lamps all match each other perfectly and the colors work much better with the new drapes I just put up as well as my linens.

I haven't even put up any photos/paintings on the wall yet and my bedroom looks WAY better. I can't even believe I got laid before in that room. The rest of the house is better put together than my old bedroom setup, but I can already see small changes I could make that would look worlds better.

I will have to ply my friend's gf with some wine for more of her advice and temper it with a male's perspective so I don't stray too far from the masculine but keep it female friendly for both getting laid and getting paid.

One thing I really want to get is a coffee table like the below (something nicer, but similar style so it's easy to eat while watching something interesting and while comfortable on the couch) and with the addition of a power strip inside so you can plug in laptops and play video off the hidden HDMI cable.

I recently bought a large tapestry from this website:

http://www.trippystore.com/

The tapestry I got was 60" x 90" and I put it over my bed. It adds to my "sex temple" vibe and definitely helps with my girls who go to yoga class and like spiritual shit. It was only $40 and takes up a lot of space.

However... I still have a large wall in my living room that needs some love. What's something cool and big I could put in there? Besides Ali's dick pics of course.

It doesn't really matter if

1) you've got really good game, and she wants to fuck you before you get in the door

2) you want to pump and dump, so you need to not look special

But if you have some coin, or some time to think about it, you could make a very nice integrated space.

Like this.

At the macro level, if you got a view, use that shit.

My boy had a spot in Downtown LA. Ridiculous view.
Chicks he'd date would see his spot and want to get married.

IT BACK FIRED.

Partially because he had no game. He'd bang, but they'd pester him.

To Be Continued.

Living Rooms

Ultimate

Attainable

1) Attainable

- Decent modern couch. Dark color, won't show stains as badly as a light colored spot

- Good use of pillows to break up the monotony, and bitches love pillows. And there is a blanket on the side cause hoes love to curl up when they watch a movie. Movie night can easily turn into fucking night.

- Bookshelf doesn't dominate - but this is a good place to put your "bait" books, as well as nicknacks from your travels

- Coffee table is glass - so you can stack stuff for her to look at and pick up.
- The Area rug is for visual interest as well.

2) Easily Attainable

The real draw here is the calfskin. Whenever I price them, there' like 300 bucks, but i'm sure a player can do better.

The couch is a Chesterfield, but it's not too old timey.

Here's another one

Don't go all bro though.

The living room is probably the first real room in the house that you're going to bring a broad.

Now if she's ready to go, don't give her the grand tour.

If she's on the fence, you need to avoid red flags.

Display Your Hobbies, if they're cool

But if they're not, don't do it

Way too Rice/Bro

A not so obvious layout issue - you have too much seating

She might sit here instead of the couch

Modern Bean Bag
[Image: tumblr_ncc8reduGl1qzleu4o1_500.jpg]

So even though you like your extra chair, she might just plop down there instead of next to you.

You have to engineer the spot

1) 1 place to sit
2) shoes off at the door
3) no clocks
4) video camera for your protection?

Also bitches like to pick things up (they will also "scratch" if you have your tables out)

These might look cool and bad ass, but it's just asking for some bullshit.

What should you have lying around? After you get the couch, what else do you do with the living room?

If you're an artist, some shit like this can really be a focal point. (ooh draw me, umm you get naked first)

The Oversize Lamp - a conversation piece, but not one you casually drop @ the bar.

I don't know about this one in particular, but this is like having a vase in your spot. It's 3 dimensional Art

Framed Art or Photos - How you get things to pop in 2 dimensions. A big piece in your bedroom and in your living room are ideal

Branches and the Telescope - regular shit that makes you look suave and debonair.

Side Table in The Back. Hoes love these things, cause they all seem to have one. As far as I'm concerned, they're entirely useless.

I'll check some of this stuff out.
When you walk into my place the first thing you hit is the living room.

I have a short entertainment center that was given to me.
The thing is, the wall behind it is pretty bland.
The TV sits on the center and I don't in allowed to put a wall mount.

The living room also opens right onto the balcony, which isn't big. But it can hold a couple people and has a nice view.

I usually close of the three bedrooms, so the entrance should be the focus.

What my spot used to look like when I lived in the City proper

It was good enough, spartan. But it was a lost opportunity.

Thanks WIA, almost spit my coffee across the keyboard when I saw the Lambo in the living room. Laughed my ass off! Still, #LifeGoals.

Great suggestions. I really liked the style below and will use as inspiration when moving into my new apartment in September.

Seriously. There's no telling where that ax would end up when a drunk bitch gets crazy. Could be your tv. Could be your throat.

I don't even like to keep these in the apt:

An ex put a 20 pounder into my sternum when I was in high school. Literally threw it at me from 5 ft away. I was sitting on the couch. I still feel that one from time to time.

Any of you guys living in small urban studios (e.g. amazing logistics, small space).. set up the bed to double as a couch Tuthmosis style (lots of pillows)?

It seems like minimalism is the way to go?

I've thought about it and decided against it.

The futon/pillows/pull out bed
- not that comfortable to sleep on
- not that comfortable to sit on

More than adequate to fuck on, but you're going to spend more time sleeping and sitting than you will fucking.
