As I browsed meetup.com last night I stumbled across this http://www.meetup.com/Photography-Events-by-Amy/
After looking at the numbers, this lady is pulling in about $2600 in just two days combined in the month of January. These are basic workshops shes offering, nothing special. Shes also a complete hack and has no photographic skill whatsoever, shes basically selling gimmicky bullshit like "how to turn a photo into a painting".
I'm thinking as spring approaches I could form a meetup group offering photography workshops, but higher end, more about actually becoming a good photographer. I'd hold two workshops a month with a smaller group of 3-6 people to emphasize more on one on one training. The Package I would offer would be feature rich and unique, with one on one training in a great location, a sit down theory discussion, post processing training, portfolio critique, all in one day. I'd charge a premium for this.
Its worth mentioning that I'm an experienced photographer and I know I have a lot to offer.
I cant help but think there is a good amount of money to be made with the right amount of planing. With a little more digging there appears to be quite a few of these meetup groups leading workshops in my area, making decent money with what appears to be a half assed approach.
I'm wondering if anyone here has tried this or thought about it. I'm sure plenty of guys here could capitalize on this as well.
