There's a new book coming out. "A Billion Wicked Thoughts"
In essence, two neuroscientists decide to go pouring through all the data "analyzed a billion web searches, a million Web sites, a million erotic videos, a million erotic stories, millions of personal ads, and tens of thousands of digitized romance novels." and have come up with interesting findings. A study almost on the magnitude of the Kinsey study.

They stress numerous times that they are trying to be objective with no political agenda whilst delving into a subject that is a political minefield (rape, homosexuality, etc..). And as someone with a science background I can sympathize. You just read out what the data gives you.
