Freezing Your Sperm for Future Children

I searched: jizz, sperm, semen, freezing and one thread I got when searching semen was El Mech's: "Basement dwellers w/ online charisma"

Don't think it's a dupe.

I'm 29 going on 30 fast. I don't forsee for at least another 8 years having a child, and I want many if I can swing the $. I want the healthiest children possible if I do opt for having kids.

I am going to look into freezing my sperm now and am strongly considering doing it. I will update the thread if I choose to pay a yearly fee and put my jizz on ice.

Anyone with experience or thoughts?

I just think it is a moral decision if I am not having children until my late 30s+ I give them the best chance possible.

Paying a few extra hundred bucks a year to give them even a 1-2% better chance at healthy genetics is worth it to me. Also I don't know what technology will be available in a decade or more. It would be nice to have the healthiest sperm possible for any set of circumstances that arise.

Go the natural route of sperm freezing -- have sex with a Minnesotan.

Yes. I have frozen sperm already in a vault.

I'm a cancer survivor and I had to do it for reasons outside morality haha.

I did it as a precaution because chemotherapy can kill sperm cells and there was a 20% chance due to chemotherapy side-effects that I could not have children.

So yeah they put you in a room with a TV a couch and a DVD player with an unlimited supply of porn magazines and videos. I chose "Cruel Milf" and masturbated furiously. I tried to fill the cup all the way up to guarantee I get as much of me as possible. You turn it in and that's that. My sperm is frozen for 150 years so they say.

I pay around $250 a year for this.

Did they give any info on costs to "thaw" the sperm for invitro?

In one blast/freeze did they tell you approximately how many shots are fertilization you have?

I'd want to make sure I have 20+ chances in case I want lots of kids to include failures etc...

I'm against this. Not everyone was meant to have kids. If you can't do it naturally then don't bother. If you're going to wait til 50 to have kids that's pointless too. You'll be retired when they're a teenager. Prime age for men to have kids is 25-35. For women its 16-26.

^ My father was 42 when he had me, he did just fine. Played sports with me all the time growing up.

50 is pushing it... for now.

38-45 is not.

People also cast aside the fact with rejuvenation research how different things will look 20 years down the road.

I think everyone should freeze their sperm, but not because of any increased risk of birth defects/autism for your offspring as you age. You should do it in case you have an illness or a catastrophic accident that renders you sterile.
There is also an increased risk of birth defects from freezing sperm or eggs and then using them.
For example, if you are 25 and freeze your sperm for 10 years, then use it to impregnate your wife/partner when you are age 35, the risk profile of the resulting fetus is not going to be the same if you just shot in her when you are 25.
However, I'm not aware of any credible research that can quantify the risk, or properly estimate it. If you reach 35 and want to have a baby, and are still fertile, are you better off using your 10 year old frozen sperm from when you were 25 or just doing it the old fashioned way? I'm guessing just doing it the old fashioned way. Now, if you were 50, and had perfectly, ideally stored sperm from when you were 25, then my feeling is probably the frozen stuff, but I don't think anyone really knows.
My own approach to this, is the following:
I've frozen my sperm for use in case of infertility due to illness or accident. I will have offspring the natural way as long as I am under 45.

I would say freeze sperm if you are going to have a vasectomy. A vasectomy reversal is expensive and may not work. If no vasectomy is on the radar then dont worry about it. Men can sire up until death or prostate removal. Which ever comes first.

I thought this was going to be about giving your children the option to have more half-siblings via a volunteer/hired mother if they so desired, or if you died.

Which, come to think about it, is a cool idea--at least for a sci-fi novel.

Good point. I didn't consider this.

I started TRT recently and am considering doing this for a couple of reasons.

-Won't have to come off TRT or supplement with HCG for sperm count

-Will make impregnation a very deliberate, time-consuming process (not to say I can't still load a chick while on TRT but sperm count will be vastly diminished)

Dunno about the health thing because I'm not a doctor, but lots of men are still able to father kids well into middle and old age. As long as you can get it up, you should still be able to be a dad at any age. Even though the quality of your sperm apparently declines a bit, you'll still be making millions of the little buggers, it just takes one of your troops to get through.

Late 30's isn't all that old to become a father for the first time, but make sure you find a much younger woman. Female fertility drops fast after the age of 30, and so do their tits. And having babies is a huge strain on a woman's body, they're far better equipped to deal with that in their 20's.

Ask yourself this, though. Do you really want children? If so, why not now, or in a year's time, or within the next five years? Why 8 years or more?

Are you thinking of freezing your sperm as a displacement activity? Is this going to be like how most people who take out a gym membership and then never go to the gym, but rationalise it as them having had good intentions but never quite finding the time?

Being a father is one of the greatest things you can do with your life. It's also one of the hardest and most thankless jobs. And it's expensive, not just in terms of money, but in terms of opportunities and freedom too - like it or not, you will be tied to the mother of your children for the next 20 years or more, even if you end up hating each other and splitting up.

Even if you find the perfect woman, you will still have days where you see some hot young thing at the checkout or whatever and think to yourself - damn. It's why so many married men with kids have the cliched mid life crisis.

But it's still great having kids. They're like tiny half-clones of yourself, and they get up to all sorts of crazy shit. This morning me and my youngest were watching Spongebob Squarepants, then he got distracted and tried to eat the cat's tail. After I got him away from an angry cat, I thought he'd sit and play with his toy drum for a while so I could have a coffee. I was only in the kitchen for 2 minutes and came back into the living room to find he'd emptied the contents of a box of Pampers all over the floor and was gnawing on the leg of the couch.

It's never boring being a dad.

I had it done before I got my vasectomy. I pay a few hundred dollars a year to keep them stored. My experience matches Midwest in just showing up to the Sperm Clinic and jerking off in a cup in a room with some porno. I don't think its a bad backup plan for any guy with some financial means given the low cost just in case he suffers an accident or illness and can't procreate afterwards but still wants kids. For any guy who gets a vasectomy this is just a bit of insurance in case you change your mind.

Yes they did but it was a separate cost. They do cycles of freezing, then thawing and over and over again as much as you want. If I remember correctly it was $750 per cycle.

Also I didn't understand your second sentence. Do you mean how much sperm in one blast? Or How many times are you able to try to fertilize? You can try as many times as you'd like. All you need is one sperm and the cup holds millions of them. I had 21 million. So if you feel like going with 1 million the first time then you can. You just have to kind of play around with it but its the patients choice.
