Personally, I say (and think) that IG is for girls.

Mind you, I've very rarely had any girl ask - maybe twice.

I wonder if the guys that get it a lot are gaming too many ditsy air heads.

Have also wondered if it's worth creating a 'curated high status' IG profile with some fake followers for this reason, because for some girls I can imagine a guy without IG is an axe murderer. Unfortunately it is probably a way girls 'get to know' and becoming comfortable with a guy in clown world.

You can take exactly what you said and replace IG with Myspace, Facebook, or any other Social media app that was popular. A decade ago it was Facebook, I didn't give girls FB then and I don't give them IG now. Would a 'high status' FB, Myspace or IG gotten me some extra bangs here and there? Maybe. But the whole idea that it is necessary to get laid and to build comfort with the girl is bullshit.

That same girl who unrelentingly demands that you provide her your IG on tinder or during daygame doesn't have the highest attraction for you to begin with if that is a dealbreaker. That same girl will fuck a stranger on the sand in Miami Beach after two cocktails without knowing his name if the attraction is there and the guy escalates properly.

I'm a college student and don't have IG. But everyone in college seems to have IG - especially the girls - so I'm curious how I can answer this question without becoming a social pariah.

Would the answers differ if (1) you were running solo (2) part of a social group?

Definitely do not go into a big explanation telling them how you are not an "attention whore" or something like that.
I would just say I'm not really into it in the most casual way possible, alternatively you can say you deleted it for x reason (too boring/ too much time wasted/etc).
Keep it simple and don't go on an anti Instagram charade.
