I've noticed that when I'm really hungry, I rarely get drunk because I dont even feel like drinking. On the contrary when I'm lunching with friends even a half-bottle of rosé get me tipsy very quickly. Same pattern with a lot of people.
I'm not talking about the biochemistry of it, but more like the behavioral aspect. It seems like when you are snacking you seem more at ease with consuming alcohol, and it makes taking multiple shot/glasses seem more natural. When you are just having a drink you get too focused on it, while if you are snacking and drinking you forgot that it's your 5th glass already. Kinda like eating popcorn during movies.
I'm thinking if this is really the case it would be a good idea to have plenty of snack at home to help with the booze?
