OKC Founder Says Copy-Pasting Is Most Efficient Strategy

Christian Rudder, the founder of OK Cupid, has a new book out that examines the data collected from the site. In an excerpt, he explains that copy-pasting really is the best strategy.

This graph shows number of keystrokes and message length:

The graph above shows that copy-pasting is widespread, but your results are only slightly worse than writing a message from scratch:

Quote:Quote:

Sitewide, the copy-and-paste strategy underperforms from-scratch messaging by about 25 percent, but in terms of effort-in to results-out it always wins: measuring by replies received per unit effort, it’s many times more efficient to just send everyone roughly the same thing than to compose a new message each time.

I go back and forth between short messages from scratch and copy-pasting a four-sentence opener. After seeing this, I'm sticking to the copy-paste method.

I coulda told you that. I've probably banged more bitches off that site, than even the founder, with the same message.

I've banged many girls using a repeated message. Most of the time, I implement a general template (about three sentences) with very little customization tailored for the target. I recently used (for a couple of months extensively) a generic and terse introductory message (one short sentence) that didn't perform nearly as well.

Damn, I feel like such a sap. There's only one path now...

How long are your copy pastas?

Also, do your copy pastes share anything about yourself, or is it entirely directed as a comment about them?

In this thread.. we boast about how well our copy and paste messages work.
But none of us will share them...cause they well spread across the iinternet like wildfire and become ineffective.

How many guys are article sitting around writing out throughful messages to chicks.
That takes way to much time

Copy pastas are all about testing the market.

Try a variety and see which ones work well.

I've tried dozens over the years. Some were total fails, most were mediocre, a few did well, rare ones are gold.

#2 was my workhorse until I gave it away:

You are attractive, and I want to go out with you.

Basically.

Lately I've used:

I want to go out with you.

How about it.

I'm new to OKC (only been on it a week or so) and still finding my feet with it although it seems to be more effective than Tinder, at least in terms of getting dates.
I get many many more matches on Tinder but the conversion rate for OKC has been higher. Although there are nowhere near as many users of it compared to Tinder, at least in Australia.

Anyway, I just moved my Tinder game across to OKC and it seems to be working ok so far.

I was not an OKC copy paster. My process was the following:

1. Pick out an interest from her profile
2. Sentence that is a dig on copy pasters (ie special snowflake indulgence)
3. Sentence that is something like "but not everyone likes...(neg on one of her interests...even if I know nothing about it, google makes me an expert)
4. Sarcastic sentence about how her interest above ^ is why I dumped by last girlfriend

This worked well on nerdy/quirky girls.

If I remember, delicioustacos has a pretty epic profile too. He's got that Bukowski-esque sense of humor going on. My prediction is that if you've got a shitty profile, you're going to have to write a hell of an email to get any kind of response.

This also has to correlate to the other OKC data on picture quality. If you're ripped and under 30, you could write Martian gibberish and have an above average response rate. There's another as yet unreleased chart which correlates the opener data vs picture rating.

Copy-pasting works. 95%+ of what attracts her are your photos and profile description.

I'm in pretty good shape with an interesting lifestyle, so I have to game less but it also took a while for things to be this way.

If a guy is starting from basement dweller virgin who plays video games all day, nearly no type of message will work.

Your openers are works of art. You really should upload them on your blog posts as pictures instead of text, so they're less likely to pop up if a girl Googles them.

I've done plenty well on OKC with a simple "Hi" or "Hey" to almost every bangable girl in my area. No need for actual effort.
