Girl has an alpha smirk and is leaning away, he is leaning toward her if you look at his head. Which ever person is not leaning is the one that has the upper hand. That Porsche has a ribbon on it so I'm guessing he just bought it for her.

Does anyone know why there are so many rich Persians? I've read that Beverly Hills is one quarter Persian. I don't I ever even met a poor Persian all my years in L.A. They all seems to be driving Benzes and Beamers and the women seem haute and extremely materialistic.

Where did they get so much money? Were their families the corrupt class that looted all the oil revenue and then ran with the goods when the Shah fell? I have a hard time believing that Iran has more rich people per capita than Western nations.

Iranians in the US are naturally screened for wealth because it is more difficult to just make it to the US from Iran, without having money.

Many of the Iranian-jews that make up Beverly Hills come from families that came to the US before the revolution with their wealth when there was an exchange rate of 1 dollar to 7 tomans. Now the rate is 1 dollar to 2,600 tomans.

Also, in general, Iranians are nothing less than obsessed with education so once here, they tend to make it to at least upper-middle class. Also there is the emphasis on image which causes many Iranians to buy status items that they can barely afford, and are not at all proportional to their actual income. In LA, there's a running joke among Iranians about Iranians with a BMW and a $600 studio apartment.

I believe all these factors added together create the impression that so many Iranians are rich.

"Does anyone know why there are so many rich Persians?"

Many of the Persians who came after the revolution were the educated class but they also lost a lot of their fucking money so they came with shit to the US. But Persians value education and hard work, something that most native born white Americans have lost interest in during the last 30-40 years. So it is really not a surprise that the Persian community has done well in the US. You see the same thing with Arabs, Indians, Chinese, Koreans and other Asian groups in the US. These are really the only groups along with Jews that even care about studying medicine, engineering, or computer science anymore.

It's true. An Iranian friend told us about how they came to Canada with $120,000 and were trying to decide whether to buy a house or a Porsche. They bought the Porsche.

Not even just unique to Asia. Nigerians, especially certain tribes, have the same mindset with education and status. Its not uncommon to see Nigerian immigrants or first generation kids at the top of graduating classes in America. Most black doctors in America or in the West in general are Nigerian (on a per-person ratio as the sheer size in numbers of the African-American community would dwarf my claim but on a per-person basis simply more Nigerian-Americans are in medicine then many other groups). It is another place where they don't play games with education, class, and status.

Western nations started taking naps but the old world work ethic is still prevalent in many nations. If you don't put up government safeguards (cockblocks) that make engineers drive cabs when they immigrate they will quickly rise to the top of you countries middle and upper classes.

In America hostility towards Mexicans picking fruit is overblown to the the Persians, Nigerians, South Asians, and Chinese whom are taking all of the few non-government government professional middle and upper class jobs in STEMs and other top flight fields. American's would rather compete with the Mexican picking strawberries though versus the immigrants going for tech and medicine.

Its funny because its this old work ethic that made America so great to begin with. You had a nation filled with hungry people from abroad whom worked like mules to create the most wealthy society in history.

There’s a rich Persian girl in my office and I barely talk to her because she’s incredibly shallow and I’ve never heard anything of any substance come out of her mouth. Because she’s always talking I overhear everything about her.

She’s extremely hypergamous and doesn’t hide it. Here’s an example: A wealthy family acquaintance is getting married, so she’s looked up this guy on Facebook and LinkedIn to see what kind of jobs his friends do (or in other words, to see how rich they are). She will then try to approach guys in order to date them and possibly marry one of them. She already has a boyfriend - also looks wise, she’s a 5 – you would have to pay me to bang her.

I get the feeling that many of them are embarassed to be called Iranian, and want to be called Persian. There’s been no country called Persia since the 1930s! If you want to troll somebody from Iran tell them they look Indian or Pakistani.

Once the old guard gets too old or start off dying, the regime cannot last. My Persian friends told me that their parents were misled during the revolution and the young generation is pushing and pushing. Eventually it will tumble. You cannot keep people shackled for long. Dictatorships etc eventually come to an end.

Another person or group will post photos that aren't kosher for the regime. Let them show off and be shallow.......at least there is life in them rejecting the black boring abaya that sucks life out of people. These death to Israel or America chants are just chants. The majority if young people want to live like Israelis or Americans do with freedom and to be able to buy luxury items too.

Iran is technically a democracy! I know that a lot of candidates get banned for being too non-Islamic, but a lot of people do get voted into power. Also, aren’t the conservative families outbreeding the secular minded people?

There’s Jews (both Israeli and American), people of Arab descent, Armenians and people from Iran in my office and they get along fine.

One contrast between Pakistan and Iran is that in Pakistan the general population in Islamic and the rulers are more liberal, wheras in Iran it’s the other way round.
