Amanda Bynes, or, We Clocked This Hamster Wheel At 3,000 RPM

Now, we know dear Amanda has ... issues, but in a way she has become a larger-than-life, almost a cartoon version of the average American woman.

Quote:Quote:

Troubled actress Amanda Bynes has claimed she is engaged and is set to marry her 19-year-old boyfriend.
The 28-year-old was pictured sporting an engagement ring while out and about in New York last week, just days after she was arrested on DUI charges amid new concerns about her mental health.
“I am very needy for friendship and I hate men,” she told an In Touch reporter. “I want to f--- them, but I can now say I’m engaged — get away from me.

Quote:Quote:

She said her 19-year-old fiance Caleb lives in California and works in a bait shop, but they plan to settle down in New York.
Bynes also told the mag of her plans to start a family.
“I want boys, for sure. However many I can pop out,” she said. “I don’t want a gorgeous girl around. Then I [would] feel way jealous. Ew.”
Bynes, who was once enrolled in the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in California, said she will not be designing her own wedding dress.
“I honestly would rather not [design my dress], but I’m so particular about how I look that I cannot imagine not designing it.”

I will not ask WYB, since that would be a redundant query, but I will ask WTF?

Remissas, discite, vivet.

Lay off, guys.

I know some former child actors. You have no idea how difficult life can be for them.

Her fiance works in a bait shop...game recognized! This guy should read up on the Kevin Federline method. K who you say? The backup dancer that married, then divorced britney spears, who then was awarded sole custody and $20k per month in child support. He is a god among male gold diggers.

Not any more hamstery than any other "normal" chick. The difference seems to be the fact that she said it out loud

Her saga continues:

Quote:Quote:

(Reuters) - Troubled former teen star Amanda Bynes has been placed in involuntary psychiatric care, her family's attorney said on Friday.

Bynes, 28, who has become known in recent years more for her legal woes and bizarre public behavior than her acting, was placed under so-called involuntary psychiatric hold after arriving in Los Angeles, her family's attorney Tamar Arminak said.

Under Californian law a person may be detained for mental health evaluation for up to 72 hours.

The development comes just hours after the actress alleged that her father had fondled himself in front of her and asked her for sex. Later, she tweeted a retraction, blaming the comments on a "microchip" in her head.

"My dad never did any of those things. The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he's the one that ordered them to microchip me," she tweeted.

Here's a picture of that microchip:

it's so odd. She was one of dozens that came out of the Disney television channel merry go round of childhood stars......(I am including Nickelodeon, ABC family, whatever else is Disney owned).

But she was one of their biggest stars. Bigger than Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and a few others.

And only rivaled in popularity (at their time at Disney) by Keenan Thompson (SNL), Miley Cyrus, Raven Symone, and Melissa Joan Hart (Clarrissa Explains it All), in terms of having their own show, and exposure on the network.
And of all of the stars that came from the Disney networks, she was by far, the most mature and sober-eyed about her success.

She eshewed all lot of the Hollywood trappings that befall other stars of that age. Drugs. Expectations about her future sucess. Lesser projects. Being typecast. Being a spokesperson schill.

And she seemed to recognize the fraility of her stardom and what other avenues she migh follow.

And then, BAM. Just like that. She went crazy.

It would be a fascinating turn of events if it actually was revealed that she did have a microchip in her brain.

This is not surprising if in fact she has schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is notorious for turning perfectly normal, bright, well-adjusted young adults into raving, homeless derelicts, often within the course of only a year or two. It's heart-breaking, in many cases.

I agree with the above comment.

Watching what's happening reminds of reading about Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd, Skip Spence of Moby Grape, and Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. This sounds like out-and-out mental illness -- perhaps brought on by the stresses of stardom and drugs, but still something worse than eccentricity or acting out.
