Chronic shoulder pain/unable to workout-Need physio help

Hey guys, I need serious physio help. I am in chornic pain and have been for the past 4 and a half years. I have seen tons of doctors and do not know what to do. The pain only gets worse when I work out so I have never really worked out.

I am 22, 6 foot and 126 pounds. I want to change my life by both getting pain-free and getting bigger. It is the most important thing in order to me right now to become a man.

I have chronic pain because the muscle that goes between my spine and mid back is always in spasm only on the right side. I have a pretty bad muscular imbalance, my right is much weaker and looks different from my left side. the pain goes from my head all the way down to my shoulder. I know i do have slight scolisosis. Also my mobility is fine but scapular stabilization is really weak.

I have seen several doctors and they all send me to physical therapist who all give me crappy stretches and excerises that put me in more pain. What do I do to get better? Do i see a personal trainer? Foam roll? Massage? I have no idea where to go from here but I want to start balancing my body and getting rid of this spasm. Also, I have never worked out or played sports so I have extreme muscle substitutions even on extremely excercises like a 5lb curl ( i tend to use my bad shoulder to help).

sand, I think you should post a detailed description on Prophylaxis' great physical therapy thread:

http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-20051.html

That thread has resulted in suggested treatment modalities that have helped guys here get rid of chronic pain.

You will probably need a combination of flexibility, strengthening exercises which hit underdeveloped muscles, and different types of massage (foam roller as well as lacrosse ball). You may have to work through your pain in some contexts, as long as it's done in a controlled way.

In any case, write a detailed post on the PT thread, and Prophylaxis will probably have some diagnostic movements for you to do that will allow the problem(s) to be identified more precisely, and then go from there

Try sleeping on the floor. I know it would probably take a while to get used to, but I have heard it help a lot of people with back issues. It's simple yet effective. And if you can't make that commitment try getting used to laying on the floor when you're just watching tv and chilling out.

If your muscles are in spasm on a particular side then I suggest seeing a back specialist. It is likely your bones are grinding on nerves.

That is some serious work that needs to be done. Light physio work will not solve that issue. Re-adjustment physio work and maybe surgery at most would be options.

Astounding that no doctor can help you. Don't know what to say, other than to keep trying many different exercises and things to attempt to get rid of it. If the doctors and therapists can't help than it's up to you to figure this out.

Also, a sports massage therapy may help?
