All you need is a $3,000 phone for you and anyone you call and you can have full end to end encryption...

Here's an app that can help detect these devices:

Not sure how effective it is.

I read an article late last year where it describe how easy and cheap it is to intercept mobile phone traffic.

The total cost was around $300 and 4-8hours of work depending on your skill and you could intercept ALL data within a certain area.
Have it transmitted to a laptop to organize what you were seeing etc... Texts, calls, snaps, imessage.

Could you post that link ? I'd be interested in seeing if it could be done

"Who cares if you have nothing to hide". Said to me a day ago by some broad after teasing her about how she's making the overlords job easy of keeping tabs on her through "Social Meds" accounts. Broads are naturally facistic.

The story mentions that they jam 4G because it's encrypted, to force you down to a 2G network which can be intercepted. That would seem to be something the telcom carriers would be interested in.

I'm a little skeptical because the story is all about a guy selling the encrypted phones, what he says, and has no answers about the alleged towers themselves, where, who, why. They even throw "Area 51" in Nevada into the story. Seems like a real journalist would have dug a little more to get some answers.

What the hell do these people mean they "don't know" who owns and operates them?

They can't check who owns the land?

They can't check construction records?

Honestly the Illumanti aren't even trying anymore. [Image: tinfoilhat.gif]

Great response to that:

"So you'd feel comfortable with me putting hidden cameras and microphones in your home (including the bathroom) since you have "nothing to hide"?"

I've won many of arguments with that.

I'm going to steal the above but Kingsley said the person was a woman. She's not an adult using a rational argument like you or I.

I'd reword answer to agree & amplify and add they should also embed tiny gps devices in our cavity fillings. Or just frame her as being crazy.

But nah, I wouldn't say that because I wouldn't discuss anything like this with a woman anyhow.

Anyone with a keyboard and internet connection is a journalist nowadays.

You're a journalist.

I'm a journalist.

We're all journalists.

Hopefully we'll see some more off-the-grid tech like this:

Off-the-grid texting device GoTenna attracts antisurveillance crowd

Quote:Quote:

Daniel Levy, a Web developer living in the Puna District of Hawaii, lived through a 12-day blackout after a rather vicious hurricane earlier this summer. Many residents in his community were stuck powerless until the local utility company restored the grid, while some subsisted on solar energy. It was after that, Levy said, that he sought a solution and came upon GoTenna.

The gadget -- a small Bluetooth-enabled rod packed to the brim with modern radio innards -- lets you create your own private, secure communication network for sending messages without cell service using your smartphone. Though marketed toward outdoors and emergency situations like hiking and disaster relief, GoTenna is getting a boost from the cryptography community. Levy, whose neighborhood gets little to zero reliable cell service, happens to represent both. He's among the more than 25 percent of GoTenna preorder customers who paid for the product with the cryptocurrency Bitcoin.

I usually tell them "I have my privacy to hide." That always gets them to shut up.
