I woke with a runny nose and a bad sinus headach. I just got home after a 10 hour shift and it was fucking miserable. I can't call in sick tomorrow because I have to put in a new service, and this guys panel is genuinely dangerous. I got shocked just taking the cover off. Do you guys know of a legit way to get rid of this or at least make the symptoms bearable?
Is there a way to get rid of a cold quickly

Yes - get some pure vitamin C powder or tablets - L-ascorbic acid.

Good producers are Swanson, Nowfoods, Solgar if you cannot find anything else or best pure powder - ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate.
Take 15.000mg within the first 30 minutes - throat ache, most symptoms should be gone by then. Then take within 15 -30 min. intervals 5.000 mg
until you feel markedly better. Possible that you get a slight diarrhea that is gone after an hour. The dose per 24h can be as low as 30.000mg to be effective or it can reach 100.000mg. Either way it works and you are practically symptom free. Just take some with you to work and take it with some water.
If you do it right as I have done so and friends and family - you should have only a slight weakness and some sniffles if you have a cold. Fever, strong weakness, throat ache etc. will not be a problem. The body may still take some time to heal and you can quicken the process by sweating it out at night, but even if it takes a week, it is almost symptom-free.
https://www.swansonvitamins.com/swanson-...grams-pwdr pure powder
Careful with most producers - even tablets of 1000mg each by most have blocking ingredients - if you take 20, then it does not work, since the added ingredients block the effectiveness and are thus useless.
Stay warm ,cover up with extra blankets when sleeping to sweat out the cold.
Sudafed. It's the only thing that makes me feel better. It has psuedoephedrine which will rev you up and clear your congestion. It's awesome. Get the 12 hour pills. Take one in the morning and one before bed. You'd think it would keep you up all night but actually it lets you breathe so you can sleep.

Sleep as much as you can , lack of sleep might be why you got sick in the first place. I haven't had a real cold or flu in 5 years.

I spend days away on expeditions in sometimes bad weather, so when i need to recover fairly quickly, this has worked for me :
1) Brew up a cup of unsweetened green tea. Teabags will suffice. Relieves or even removes the pounding headache the next morning.
Squeeze a few limes in some warm water & add a bit of honey (half a teaspoon or a few drops) & gulp that down. That'll help with the nose & any oncoming sore throat.
2) Grab as much quality sleep/rest as possible. I find i sleep better with a black colored cloth or shirt over my eyes. If you've got an eye mask, i suppose that would work too.
3) Avoid touching or scratching your face often. Your symptoms look like an onset of a flu infection. Wash your hands often.
4) The often repeated advice of drinking lots of water/fluids works here.
5) I've taken a few drops (a teaspoon) of apple cider vinegar mixed with some warm water when i felt the onset of symptoms similar to yours before. It did provide relief & sped up my recovery.
Get well soon.
Sleep. If you cant sleep, try a sleep aid like a Nyquil or something prescribed from your doctor. I like to use the MotionX app to track my nightly sleep, and aim for several nights of 7 hours +.
A few weeks ago I banged a much younger girl, who had this nasty cold. I said fuck it, I am getting -17 yr younger pussy and a night of no sleep.
Well.. I didnt get sick! I put it into over drive;
I went and bought this, totally putrid stuff but maybe it worked..

I went high dose on Zinc, 100mg+ per day

Totally worth it, and no sickness

Airborne, vitamin C, and sleep. I don't think their is some secret method. The best way is through prevention: rest, deal effectively with stress, wash your hands regularly and eat lots of fruits and vegetables.
I woke up with a running nose. Maybe in Thai pharmacies they will suggest a different solution.
This doesn't fail.

Also, organic coconut oil.
Another option would be echinacea.

Heres what works for me:
- Lots of citrus fruit (oranges, lemons, tangerines, etc) and/or Vitamin C efervescent caps.
- Eat as much as you appetite allows and drink a lot of water, tea, or coffee.
- Lots of star anise tea. Crush a small handful in a mortar, let it seep in water over a low flame, and drink warm. Tastes awful, so its ok to down it as fast as you can.
- Lots of sleep. Stay in bed all day if necessary. My work schedule allows this.
- Take flu medication if you need it and only to ameliorate the symptoms like a runny nose or achy joints. They serve for little else.
- Sleep as warm and covered as you can, even to the point of discomfort. Wear long sleeved shirts, a hoodie, wool caps. double calf lenght socks... The point is to sweat the flu out while you sleep.
Following this method I can get back from a flu in 2 days, 3 tops.

Take Afrin nose spray to clear up sinuses and runny nose. Take ibuprofen for headache.
And then mega dose with vitamin C. That's really the secret.
Additionally, hydrate. Lots and lots of water. This has many benefits but will also thin the mucous and allow it to exit your body easier and faster etc.

I'd suggest like 10K minimum Vitamin D3 - up to like 20k daily single dose is fine along with high dose Vitamin C. Afrin is amazing as well. Unfortunately the best you're going to do on short notice is mask the symptoms.
I find the Theraflu brand stuff (non-drowsy) works pretty well but I try to stay away from pseudo-ephedrine.

I second zinc. Vitamin C does jack shit for me but zinc will usually get a cold over with in a day or - if I start hammering zinc the moment I feel the tiniest bit off - prevent me from getting it in the first place.
brandy ! works like a charm.
Don't forget the garlic!

This is understating it.
To get rid of a cold or fever, throw yourself into the hottest space around and start roasting under as many hravy blankets as are available.
Sweat as much as you can and just stay there.
You'll sweat out the cold.

Psuedoephedrine is sometimes misunderstood as only masking the symptoms of a cold. I discussed this with my doc and my theory that because it dries out the sinuses and "pipes" the sickness can't spread as easily. Not to mention relieving pressure and pain so that you can sleep thereby going into and staying in recovery mode quicker and longer. My doc said he actually hadn't thought of that but it made sense. In any case, it works well for me.
Here in Thailand it's hard to get psuedo without additives (Triprolidine, chlorpheniramine maleate or paracetamol) and you need to go to a hospital now to get anything with psuedo in it but some Chinese herbalists have "Ma Huang" which is herbal ephedrine. That does the trick too.
It ended up being the flu I woke up with a fever and I could barely move. It took me 12 hour to change the damn panel. I had to call the power company to cut the power from the transformer because the cable from the weather head had 4 inches of insulation shaved off. The bare strands of wire were touching the meter enclosure and it shocked the shit out of me. I got major brownie points with my boss though, that's a plus I guess.
+1 for high dose zinc as soon as soon you feel the slightest bit of a cold coming on. Studies have shown that taking zinc at the onset of a cold reduces length and severity. Hence the popularity of Zycam in the states. Although I reckon taking oral zinc is better.
( The literature: http://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=zinc...CBwQgQMwAA )
I also pop 15k-20k IUs of D3 at the onset. I literally stopped a cold in its tracks last week with this combo. I took an ice bath for a little too long and started to feel sick and spit up some colored mucus indicating an infection.
So I hit the zinc and d3 right away and the next day I was back to training and feeling great.
I've found that if you wait even a day too long to take the zinc and D3 it'll be too late and you'll be stuck reducing the severity of your cold rather than nipping it at the bud. Admittedly this is bro science on my part but just stating what appears to work for me.

If you had some vit. C, it would have worked on the flu just as well - just at higher doses - probably 60.000mg to 120.000mg within 24 hours. I personally took 60-70.000mg per day sometimes.
The funny thing is that despite all the scientific reading I did beforehand I was still completely amazed how fast and effective it was! It was a shock to me - that one minute you are in pain and miserable and then the next after one dose of some 10.000mg ALL the symptoms are gone! LIke - all of them! Then after some time some return and you take some more vit. C. But it was still amazing and shocking to me the first time as I realized how ridiculous was all the medication I took in my life when having a cold, while something as cheap and easy was that much more effective! Those Pharma-sheisters did a hell of a job to obfuscate that and tell you that mega-doses of vitamin C damage your kidney etc. (while the reality is that doses as low as 15.000-30.000 dissolve kidney stones and an operation is not necessary - had it happen with an acquaintance who was scheduled for operation, but he took some 15.000mg and the stone was gone).
The other things the guys mentioned here work too in tandem - vit D3, zinc, multivit, some fresh juices, water etc. But the vit. C is the main thing that works like a sledghammer.
What form/brand of vitamin C are you guys using?
Even so called 'buffered' vitamin C tears my stomach up anywhere above 5g.

Most brands and producers are terrible - on purpose in my opinion.
Use Nowfoods, Swanson or better - only medium sized mostly founder-family owned companies like those with orthomolecular doses.
The easiest way to take vit. C is in the form of sodium ascorbate. You can buy it that way or mix it yourself. https://www.swansonvitamins.com/swanson-...grams-pwdr
Just take pure l-ascorbic acid and mix it with some pure baking powder - sodium bi-carbonate - in water. Can be 88% vit. C with 12% baking powder - but it can be as high as 50-50. Also do not use commercial baking powder which is mixed with aluminum and other crap. Only pure one will do.
The same goes for vitamin C. Tablets for mega-doses in vit. C are a bother, because you swallow so much filler stuff. I experimented with some brands in the beginning with completely ineffective results, because producers put in strange ingredients in which are blocking the absorption.
Have to do that supplement data-sheet, since I did so much research on the stuff and even talked with quite a few orthomolecular doctors (though they have to research most of it by themselves too).
