At times when I day game, I approach and talk to a girl as she's walking. We talk well. But as soon as she turns a corner, she'll say something like, "well I'm going this way, it was good talking to you".

As soon as girls say this, I want to continue walking and talking with them. But if I follow her, it feels like I'm stalking her. I've tried, "Oh, I'm going this way too." But it still feels like its bullshit to her.

Is there something I can say to counteract this so I don't look try-hard?

There was this hot girl that I would see every so often in my gym, and one day I saw her on the corner of 72nd and 2nd. I approached, and mentioned I recognized her from the gym. We chatted and eventually she said, "Well I guess Ill see you around at the gym."

I said, "Wait, we both know we might never run into each other again, how 'bout you give me your number so we can make sure we do?"

She did, we went out that Sat afternoon and turned into a same day lay.

First off the key is to get them to stop. It isn't always easy but it can be accomplished with your presence and body language. Lead the interaction and stop walking. If she continues to walk hold up your hand as if to stop her but don't touch her. This will show dominance. Soften the gesture with a smile and tell her you only have a minute but that you should continue the conversation another time. Number close and move on.

Always go for the number close at a minimum. There have been instances when I thought I was getting blown out but pushed through for a number and ended up with a subsequent bang.

Anticipate the corner before you actually get there

Do this by asking "Which way are you going?" a couple of moments before you reach the corner.

Then just continue talking about whatever you were talking about before and turn with her as she turns.

It's more 'natural' this way.

If she asks where you're going just give her a playful answer like "I missed my plane so now I have to walk all the way to Buenos Aires" or whatever silly shit your mind can conjure up

I appreciate that, but I've found that asking a girl's number after a short interaction doesn't go anywhere. It usually turns into a "dead" number. On the other hand, talking to her at length and even going on an instant date works wonders.

But I do agree with you on being persistent no matter what.

Hey man, that's good! I will try that. But one problem with that is, you really don't know what corner she'll turn to. It could be any corner. Any suggestions on that?

Rather then walk along and ramble, its best to stop them before commencing any kind of interaction. Just a simple 'Hi' from the side followed by you actually stopping will get the majority of them to stop and for you to deliver the pitch.

Its not a perfect world, so there'll always be ones that will not stop, listen to your opener and decide to go as well as ones who'll entertain conversation.

I have gotten my share of dead numbers as well. My original point was to stop her. Walking along side someone is something you do with a person you know. Get her to stop, then proceed realistically in one of two ways: 1 go for an instant date. 2. Develop a conversation in which you establish an interest level and rapport so that getting her number is a natural part of the interaction.

When I am unable to accomplish this and the conversation is short, I still go for the number. The odds aren't great but I have been pleasantly surprised.
